- Welcome to this travel guide to Whitby vlog.
Whitby in North Yorkshire has been labelled as England's Perfect Seaside Town, but do you agree? Let us take you on a guided tour from our first time In Whitby.
So what are the best things to do in Whitby? What are the top 10 sights in Whitby? Well, let us show you in this guide.
One of the many things Whitby is famous for is it's connection with Bram Stoker and Dracula. Bram Stoker visited Whitby and started to write Dracula by taking inspiration of the stunning Whitby Abbey and the graveyard at St Marys.
Fish and chips are an important part of any seaside town, especially Whitby. We visit two of the most famous fish and chip shops in Whitby, The Magpie and The Quayside and do a taste comparison and review.
We take a lovely boat tour around Whitby's harbour with Fisherman Pete.
We also take a visit to Saltwick Bay where we go searching for fossils.
We did so much more during our time in Whitby and we hope you will come along and join us in this travel guide vlog.
As always, we end up in a lovely pub to give a cheers to the day, but this time, we meet up with our good friends and fellow RUclips channel, Generation Xplorers.
We hope you enjoy this guide to Whitby vlog, and Cheers To The Good Times x

⭐ About Postcard & A Pint:
Welcome to the official Postcard & A Pint RUclips channel.
Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. It's just a bit of fun, and great for our sanity. Your support is hugely appreciated x

Enjoyed the tour of Whitby, Rachel and Wills. Lovely town and shops. Loved the story about the polar bear but feel it' appropriate you pass right past the "John Bull" store right after, Rachel. Even the seagull was too confused by the "fish and Chips" review to swoop over and have a taste! Lovely beach but the "old fossils" are sitting right here. Cheers to the GenX times!
Thanks for watching both. It’s a gorgeous seaside town and we loved it there. The icing on the cake was meeting Nick and Jill. The fish and chip review may have confused the gull, but they were delicious!! Cheers 🍻
Very interesting Dracula connection! I had no idea!!
It was fun to find all of those places from the story 🍻
Hey friends!! Another amazing video.. Thanks for sharing with us. Loved watching.
Stay connected friends.
Thank you so much for watching. Cheers 🍻
A very nice story telling about the places..No nice to listen everything you told. The day was so freat,,blue sky and pretty clouds...Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you so much for watching. We’re glad you enjoyed it 🍻
Hi both that was so lovely there. The boat trip with the jumping fish 😄 looked great . Loved the quaint streets, the little passageways, shops and the harbour . The Dracula connection was interesting. St Mary's GRADE 1 listed church from 1110 is beautiful and so is the 7th century Whitby Abbey . The beach is so nice and great that you found some dinosaurs and some gen xers too ! Loved this :) ~ Anna 💕🏴
Thanks guys. Pete said in all the years of doing that tour that had never happened!! It’s such a picturesque place and the church and Abbey were incredible. Meeting Nick and Jill was so lovely and we had a great evening chatting. Cheers 🍻
Cool sharing Guys 😀 BIG 👍 From Denmark
Thank you so much for watching. It’s a beautiful place to visit. 🍻
Lovely day, beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing 👍
Thank you so much for watching 🍻
SO FUN to see Nick and Jill!💕
They’re brilliant. A fun evening was had by all 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint Hopefully we can meet up with them next year!
For me, they’d have to throw the cook at me too. Great tour from the boat. Love fish and chips. Stoker section was so interesting. It is a lovely beach. Love the old passages. What a lovely location. The drone footage was just lovely.
Hahahah, I think Pete was taking it home for his tea!! We’re glad you enjoyed the Stoker part, it’s a fascinating town. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious!! Thanks for joining us 🍻
Whitby has it all, the best place on the coast full stop, enchanting in any season, I know because I'm always there 😀
I don’t blame you. It’s a gorgeous place. We absolutely loved our time there. Cheers for watching 🍻
OH I never thought about putting Whitby on my 'to visit' list. It's right up there now. What a fab video. I felt transported from James Cook's New Zealand to Whitby. 👍🇳🇱🙋♀🇳🇿💖
Definitely pop it on your list Anita, it’s a beautiful town. We had such a lovely visit and meeting Nick and Jill was great. Hope you’re still having a blast in Mew Zealand. 🍻
So beautiful Whitby thanks for sharing 😍
Thank you so much for watching 🍻
Nice whopper of a fish! Lovely boat cruise. Love the streets and architecture. Nice story of Dracula. The play would absolutely be something to see. Love the little light houses. Nick and Jill are awesome. Do you live far from each other? Love the church and Abbey. Awesome views from the Abbey. Poor little bugger who still ended up in a zoo and his Mother was shot! Very sad. So glad that we have seen the end of Whaling. Although Japan, Norway and Finlay still kill Whales 😔. Now you got me salivating, sweets 🤣Beautiful beach. Wonderful adventure. ♥🤗👍🏼🙏🏼 Cheers 🍷
Thanks for watching. It’s such a lovely town and we enjoyed our visit. That was a whopper of fish, i think Pete had a good dinner that night! We probably live close to Nick and Jill by Australian standards -but by the U.K.,no- about 3.5 hours. Despite the whaling history, there is so much to see and do there (and fish and chips!!) - Thanks for joining us. Cheers 🍻
Oh my great vid guys. Can you possibly get any better. This was truly brilliant. So love your style if vlog. And great to see the bird up. ( not you Rach ) 🤣. Good to see Nick & Jill too. Fantastic work as always. Massive support from us in Glos vegas. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻❤️.
Ah thanks guys. We had so much fun up there and it was lovely to meet Nick and Jill. Wills is getting better at the drone and we’re less nervous of flying it. It was such a gorgeous day and the views were amazing. See you soon 🍻
Hahah... well I know where I'm going when I want no end of pubs to choose from! I'm kind of in love with the idea of yapas... I'd try making up a platter of that for myself! The abbey was stunning to see, and that beach when the tide started to go out... my goodness. This looked like a heavenly place. Thank you so much for this Rach and Wills!
Thanks for joining us. We’d love to see your take on yapas! It would be divine. Whitby is a stunning place and we had such a great time. We felt like we’d been away for a few days, not just overnight. Cheers and have a good week 🍻
Awsome video guys, Whitby looked amazing, and meeting two amazing people too ❤️
Those two are legends! Cheers for watching. It was such a great place to visit. 🍻
My favourite place! Love a good disagreement in arguments yard 🤣🤣
You guys are amazing story tellers!
Magpie all the way 🙌
Rachel& David
Ah thanks guys. What a lovely place it is, we were wowed by it. Both fish and chips were amazing, some of the best we’ve had for sure. Thanks for watching 🍻
Hi, wow great tour. Great town. Thank you and have a nice Sunday. Greetings Alex and Alex
Thank you both so much. We loved our time there. Cheers 🍻
You have good content! very beautiful! I love Yorkshire!👍👍🙋❤️
Thank you so much for watching. We loved it there. Cheers 🍻
Whitby has so much to offer ...try visiting at Halloween..
We’ve seen a few vlogs of Halloween and the goth fest, looks incredible. Cheers for watching 🍻
Absolutely brilliant. Lovey to see Nick & Jill 👍♥️
As I was watching my daughter said ‘That girl had a really good TV presenters voice’ 😁👍
Ah thank you so much. I don’t know what I’m more flattered at - presenter or girl!!! Bless your daughter. Thank you for watching. Whitby is a truly wonderful place to visit. Cheers 🍻
Fishing is easy when they just jump into the boat! Cheers Susan! Glas she returned to life after flying into the airplane. That's got to be the best place to see Dracula. Christmas cards!!! Wonderful drone shots over the abbey. Polar Bear is at least for Christmas. Maybe more. Excellent story though. Hilarious mug! Fish and chips look yummy! Go see First Class Wrestling lol. Dinosaurs! More beautiful drone work! Cheers to the good times! 🍻
Thanks guys. Fisherman Pete was a total legend and that was the first time in all his years a fish had jumped onto the boat. It’s a gorgeous place and seems to be doing so well even in the hard times we’re having right now. All the best people are called Susan!! Cheers for watching. Have a great week 🍻
Very fun tour! I enjoyed the details about Dracula and it would be awesome seeing the play. Loved the argument over the cat/dog but I have to agree it was a cat. 😂 Sad story about the polar bear but glad he didn't get killed by the angry villagers. Great area!
Thanks so much for watching. We had such a lovely overnight and meeting Nick and Jill was so lovely. We really loved the town and that part of England, we definitely need to visit again. There seems to be so much to explore up there. We’d love to see the live performance too, must be so cool to see it in the Abbey. Thanks so much for watching 🍻
What a lovely day you had in God’s own county ❤️ You guys are living life to the max. The river Mersey to the North Sea 🤣 We love Whitby; so glad you did too! It really is a travesty that you aren’t getting more views 😡 Your filming, content and editing is really good and you deserve more! Cheers to the good times 🍻
Ah thanks guys. We absolutely loved Whitby and will definitely be visiting North Yorkshire again, it was beautiful. We’ll just keep doing what we do, fingers crossed the views will come soon! Cheers 🍻
Ooh a little mini break to the seaside , what a treat, for you two and for us viewers! We have always wanted to visit Whitby, your tour around was so good we feel like we have now (although it's not quite the same as tasting the fish and chips for ourselves😋, a fish and chip review, had to be done!🤣🐟🍟). The Dracula info was fascinating, we are both huge horror fans, so that gives us another reason to visit👻😈. The poor little polar bear, we are just glad he wasn't killed by the village folk after that journey, amazing story and well recounted as ever Rach 👍🐻❄️. Ah there is Nick and Jill! More you tube royalty, they should have laid out the red carpet for you lot at the pub, or at least bought you all a beer🍻. This deserves thousands of views, as do all your videos, throughly enjoyed as ever. Have a brilliant week guys😊👊
Thanks guys. You definitely need to go up for a visit, it’s a gorgeous place. The fish and chips alone are worth the trek across country! It was lovely to spend the evening chatting with Nick and Jill,no red carpets were ruined (or even used) in the event!!!🤣. Cheers for watching 🍻
Enjoyed the tour of Whitby, along with your fun narration! I loved the Dracula section - so interesting and loved the special effects. Lots of amazing views and fun facts. Aw, what a shame the polar bear story had a sad ending. I thought he was going to continue to sail the seven seas with his owner! Btw, I'm really craving fish and chips now! Cheers for a fun video! 🙋♀🙋♀💕
Those fish and chips were epic!!! Thanks for watching, we had so much fun both visiting Whitby and making the video. Cheers 🍻
Wow Very beautiful place. Nice ship and free admission today. 👍 199 steps! Tombstones yikes😮
Thanks so much for watching. We had such a fun trip. There were a lot of steps in Whitby!! Cheers 🍻
Beautiful Vlog My Friend 👍👍
Thank you so much 🍻
Beautiful town and shopping. I loved learning about Dracula, and I'd love to watch the show!! I really enjoyed the polar bear story!! Lots of breathtaking sights and interesting facts! 🤗🤗New Supporter 🤗🤗
Thank you so much. We’re so glad you enjoyed it. It was a beautiful place to visit. We loved it. Cheers 🍻
Beautiful video filming, my thumbs up
Thank you so much 🍻
very good 👍 hope you have a good weekend 👍
Cheers you too 🍻
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VIDEO! I want to visit!!! Very interesting history! You’ve given us it all Dracula, pubs and dinosaurs! Incredible drone shots too! So nice you met up with RUclips friends we’ll check out their channel!
In the last hour we just got electricity & internet! Cheers to electricity! ~Cara 🍻
Yes, you’re back on grid!! That was a long time without. I hope you didn’t get too much damage. Thanks for watching, it’s such a lovely town (pop it on your list for next year!!). Nick and Jill are lovely, so check them out. It’s such a great town with so much going on. Cheers for watching 🍻
Yapas?! I love the idea! Looks yummy😋
It was great! Seems that pub is the only one that does it though!! 🍻
I've visited Whitby several times. Such a fun and exciting place. Cool video
It’s a great place isn’t it. Cheers for watching 🍻
Ahh this is wonderful! You know, i've always wanted to visit Whitby, so beautiful, seasidey and historical! but now i've watched your video i 1000% am going to go. Loving the harbour tour!! So nice to see all the cobbled streets, rammed and nice and busy! Loving the abundance of pubs too! oo Yapas sounds nice. So cool to listen to your storytelling about Dracula, very very iconic! Whitby Abbey is incredible, can certainly see how it would have been an inspiration for Bram. wahey! Cheers! Loved this video, as much as i did seeing our lovely friends Nick and Jill!!
We’d love to see you guys to Whitby Abbey, you’d do a cracking job. We loved our time there, there was so much to see and do. It’s such a quaint place and pubs a plenty!! Meeting up with Nick and Jill was great and chatted for ages. Get up to Whitby guys so we can enjoy your video . Cheers 🍻
Nice sharing 😊😊. Both God bless 🙏
Thank you so much. How kind 🍻
Very interesting and good video 👍 Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for watching.cheers 🍻
Fun video and great tour around Whitby! Nice to start putt with the boat tour and get a perspective of town from the water! The Abby is super interesting, fun to learn about the connection with Dracula! Cute streets and shops… great pubs and food… I can see why it’s a very popular Seaside Town!! 👍😄☀☀👻
Thanks so much for watching. It’s a lovely town and we had the best time there. Cheers 🍻
Thanks so much for watching. It’s a lovely town and we had the best time there. Cheers 🍻
Cool! Yapas! I was in Yorkshire and this is my first encounter with Yapas but then have not stopped in Whitby. Cool Scoresby bear and link to NZ! Cheers! 🥂🍻
Hahaha, yep we’d never heard of Yapas til that day and have been to other places in Yorkshire. It was delicious thought. We learnt so many cool stories and things from history in the town. It’s a great place to visit. Cheers 🍻
Now that's a neat area. There are annual pub crawls by many groups doing fundraising here in Halifax...I can see that the crawl would be an easy little joint here... The church and views from there are really something else. My goodness, all our coastal areas have such a "questionable" history...whales, polar bears...seals and cod here. Can you get a gluten-free batter...would love to have a great feed of fish and chips! Looks like you could spend many a day here and not retrace your steps...awesome! Bruce and Otis
Thanks guys. It’s a wonderful place to visit. You’re right, we do have a questionable history, but all those things made the town it is today. It’s such a quaint town and we absolutely loved it. I’m sure there a gluten free batter there somewhere as it seems to be a town that embraces modern life even though it looks the same as it did centuries ago. Thanks for watching and cheers 🍻
Very nice vlog, beautiful😊 place👍
Thank you so much for watching 🍻
Looks like we both had Whitby videos drop on the same day! We stayed at the same B&B and loved it! You two definitely won with the weather!
They both, ah, thanks for the view and the moment. We’ve just watched your video, really enjoyed it and have subscribed. Thanks again
Hi Guys, Whitby looks amazing and loved the incredible stories you told along the way 😊 great meet up with generation X and loved the fossil hunting at the end too 😊 great video
Thanks guys, it was a lovely overnight break. We felt like we’d been away for a few days. It’s a stunning place and we loved everything about it. Cheers 🍻
great guide
Thank you 🍻
what a lovely place whitby looks i never been there. loved the spooky scene so well done. and great to see you meet up with nicķ and jill
Thanks Simon. We’re glad you enjoyed it. We loved it as a place, it’s so vibrant which is rare for a town these days. Meeting Nick and Jill was the icing on the cake. A fun evening was had by all. Cheers 🍻
Wow I would love to go there and explore Whitby I find it very old like you were back to another century but I find it very very lovely and interesting..what I love the most are the sea decks if I said it correctly 😅 and the busy streets and architecture! The old abey and church on top of the hill was like in the movies! I enjoyed everything about it thanks for sharing. Until next time bye
Thank you so much for joining us, it really is like stepping back in time. The town seems to be doing so well, even in these hard times. It certainly has something for everyone. Thanks so much for watching 🍻
A very long way from us in Australia good introduction of what its like there
*big like👍Au👀always a full watch*
Thank you so much. So many connections with Australia too with that town. Thanks so much for watching 🍻
Love the atmosphere, the music is so fun, also your narration is very entertaining! Great video as always guys!
Have a lovely day! 🐢🤗❤️
Thank you so much. It’s a lovely place to visit. Thanks for joining us 🍻
Interesting place to explore. Hoping to visit here sooner or later. We are planning to travel to UK this coming December. Maybe we`ll consider coming to Whitby, Yorkshire. Dracula, that is cool. The beach with colorful houses/hubs is lovely. The other beach or the bay is so serene, I love it. Beautiful vlog, I like the way you made this vlog.
Thank you so much for watching. We hope you enjoy your U.K. trip! We hope you get a gorgeous sunny day too to visit Whitby. Cheers 🍻
You are truly very talented at making videos. We enjoyed every second of this one and you make them entertaining and informative too. The highlight for us was the Yapas! - what a great idea! Wow so many pubs there tog could easily spend a week there. Loved the editing that you used for the Bram Stoker bit. Five pounds was quite a good price for the harbour tour and the pilot sounded a good laugh too. Thank you'd so much for sharing this! Elaine, Mike, Samuel and Thomas 😍😎👬
Ah thank you, that’s very kind of you to say so. We really loved Whitby and had such a brilliant visit there. There really were pubs for days!! The Yapas was gorgeous, but I don’t think it’s going to replace the Spanish version anytime soon! We loved the boat ride and enjoyed meeting Pete. Cheers for watching 🍻
Absolutely love Whitby 😀 There is so much to do there 😊 you both captured it really well and looks like you both had a great visit! 😊
Ah thank you. We loved our time there, it was such a beautiful town. So much to see and do. Thanks for watching 🍻
Rachel and Wills, we loved this video. It was fun, we've visited Whitby and taken a boat out and it was cold lol even in Spring. Never knew about pirate (?) graves they looked fab. Loved the Polar Bear story, I can imagine it being very true. M&T
Thanks guys. Isn’t it a gorgeous place. We certainly lucked out on the weather, especially the second day. We’d read about those skull and cross bone graves online, they weren’t the easiest to find though!! Thanks so much for watching. 🍻
What a stunning place and you got to visit so much. But the highlight must have been meeting nick and Jill. Brilliant video (but not the joke 😅)
It certainly was. What a lovely couple they are. We loved our time there and would love to visit that part of England again. Cheers for watching. 🍻
It certainly was. What a lovely couple they are. We loved our time there and would love to visit that part of England again. Cheers for watching. 🍻

Thanks so much for watching and leaving a lovely comment 🍻
Beautiful :-) thanks for the Whitby tour :-)

Hi, Rach and Wills. Thank you for sharing.
I like the way you edited this footage...spooky
Oh..yes. I love those little story-buildings sitting from shoulder to shoulder in a small cozy town.
Picture-perfect!!!...5:44..are those lighthouses offering a tour to go inside? or no longer in use?
Yay..Nick and Jill!!!...6:29
Excellent, beautiful footage...7:29>>>Wow...the size of the property of this churchi= is immense, isn't it?...7:55..so many tombstones...hmmm..mysterious crossbones...8:01...treasure may be under the ground!!???
Pirates or smugglers..>>>ancesters of Tea in Valhalla?..LOL..oh..tombstones without bodies...sorrowful
Of course, this Abby has a magnificent look...8:31
I totally love the polar bear story!
'Pac-Man"...Kayak7seas would love it!
What's an exciting activity...fossil hunting is one of the K7S and my hobbies as well...mostly shark teeth...mammal bones.
I hear somebody found a dinosaur footprint on that beach...at the lowest tide.
Well done. OMG, it is the complete guide of Whitby. I would love to visit someday.🥰🥰🚣♀🚣♀
Thanks so much for watching. It was amazing to meet up with Nick and Jill, we had such a lovely evening. Yes Whitby is a gorgeous place and we loved our visit there. There is so much to see and do and the town seems to be doing really well even in these harder times. Yes I believe there is a dinosaur footprint on that beach, but the tide was too far in the day we were there. I hope you make it over to Whitby one day for a visit. Cheers for watching 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint Thank you, Rach and Wills....Yes, I would love to visit it😍😍
Hi Rachel and Wills. Great video of Whitby! James Cook's boat looked interesting - much bigger inside than I would have thought. Dracula and Whitby go together and I love the way you showed that. The bear story was interesting. You had great weather too! We must get to Whitby next year :) Tx for sharing. Best wishes, Rob (New friend in The New Forest)
Hi Rob and thank you. We absolutely loved our time in Whitby. It felt like we’d been on a weeks holiday when we only went overnight. Such an interesting place. We’d love to get down to the new forest at some point, it looks a stunning area. Thanks so much for watching and cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint wow, you did a lot for one night! Impressive :)
This is a wonderful explore of the area! Nice you got to stay over and really spend the time and enjoy. I can't believe the fish jumped right up onto the boat - dinner is here! So many amazing pubs to choose from there - it would be hard to decide where to eat next. The Black Horse is pretty cool and wouldn't mind trying out the Quirky Den too! Enjoyed - new sub here.
Thanks so much for watching. We loved our time there and highly recommend it! The fish jumping in the boat was amazing, certainly was ‘dinner is here’! There are so many incredible pubs with I’m sure incredible history. Welcome to the channel and cheers 🍻
Superb video guys, you really uncovered some fascinating information about the place, so much we didn’t know ourselves! You really did the miles and showed the place in a perfect light. Rachel, your retelling of the Polar Bear story was so good we have to agree its our favourite too. Well done on getting up so early to get those magnificent drone shots, i think you have been practicing! The Yapas looks really fun, we will have to try it! Well done on the fossil find, you uncovered that very quickly! Cant wait to see this again on the big telly when we get home, you have made our day even better! All our love, lovely meet up! Nick and Jill xx
Ah guys. It was so lovely meeting you, the first but definitely not the last meet up! What a beautiful town Whitby is (lots of steps though!!). We’re glad you enjoyed the video. Have a brilliant last few days in Italy and go bag a bear!!! Cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint thanks guys xx
Nice travel Vlog!!! I like polar bear story… Poor little guy still ended up at the zoo
I know, bad times!! Thanks so much for watching 🍻
I love Whitby! Me and Joe had our honeymoon here, as its only 2 hours from us. We also took our Finnish friends there as they wanted to visited the Bram Stoker bench. Hope you treat yourselves to some Whitby Jet. We stayed at the White Horse and Griffin. lovely small gin bar! Never heard of the yapas 🤣
Ah that’s lovely Dee. What a wonderful place to spend your honeymoon! We didn’t buy any jet this time, but I think we’ll be back. Everyone we know from Yorkshire say they’ve never heard of Yapas! 🤣 Must be a just that pub thing!! Thanks so much for watching 🍻
Hi there what a good video like always keep up the good work
Thank you so much for watching 🍻
Thanks for a great video. Enjoyed it so much. We have subscribed
Ah thank you so much and welcome to the channel. We really enjoyed this trip to Whitby, it’s such a gorgeous place. Thanks so much for watching 🍻
Your Video is so amazing, I really enjoy watching it!
Thank you so much 🍻
Love the drone footage over the church and abbey!👍
And the sea!!
Wills is getting better at it!!! X
Very nice
Thanks so much 🍻
Brilliant! Absolutely love Whitby. There's just something so magical about it. Did you drive up and go over the moors?
Ah thank you. Yes we drive up over the moors. It was absolutely beautiful . Thanks for watching, we had such a lovely overnight there. Thanks for joining us. 🍻
Beautiful sights! Nice and colourful town! Did you find the Dino 🦕 😊
Thanks for watching. We each found a part of a dinosaur!!! Good times 🍻
I have been wanting to visit Whitby … And definitely have fish and chips by the seaside! I love that you did a fish and chips taste test!!! Just my kinda thing 😉
Which chippy was recommended to you by Pete, Nick, and Jill?
They didn’t recommend one, this was just internet research from us! 🍻
Yeah...i reckon its perfect
It’s such a beautiful place. Cheers 🍻
Pete IS a legend! Do we REALLY believe that jumping fish story?🤔
He was great, yes I do believe that fish jumping story as he was as baffled as we were. 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint it’s a good one! 😀
Lovely vlog both, another place I have never been but it looks lovely. Loved the drone shots, especially that beach at the end. Did they used to film the spin off from the TV series 'Heartbeat' titled 'The Royal' somewhere near there. I may be completely wrong. I visited Crosby Beach today to see the sculptures after a visit to Liverpool, I had not heard of them until I watched your previous video, so thank you also for that. 👍👍
Thanks so much for watching. It is a gorgeous town, so quaint and seems to be doing really well even in these times. Don’t know about the TV show sorry, we don’t watch a lot on TV (although we are watching welcome to wrexham at the moment!!). We hope you enjoyed the Anthony Gormley display. The weather was pretty good here yesterday so fingers crossed was for you too. Cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint I'm watching Welcome to Wrexham, love it. It was an old programme to be fair, I didn't watch it, my father raves about it. 👍👍
Great video!
Cheers Will, it’s a fab place to visit 🍻
I love Whitby, I first stayed there in a b&b with my mate Neil, we were both 14 and the place we stayed were family friends of Neil's father. Great fun but the hills are killers. 🤣
Like deployed 👍
Those hills certainly are killers, but you’re right, what a lovely place. It must have been magical to visit as a kid. Cheers 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint it was, we got a bus to Scarborough to go to the fair (fayre) 🤣
Ahh made it second 😊

You’re very right. Cheers for watching 🍻
Nice harbour and all but how good can a sea side town be without a pier? 😉 It actually looks like a nice place to visit. I think you had me at 478 pubs. And fish 'n' chips. I've always wondered, and I have never bothered to google it, but does UKish fish 'n' chips have other stuff? Not just fish. And chips. I'm rather partial to battered prawns and scallops and calamari. When we get fish 'n' chips I mostly have prawns and chips and the rest of the fam has the fish and chips. Although Brandy is a chip off the ol' block and he eats prawns like they're something a lot cheaper now too. So can you get the good stuff too? I keep forgetting that Cap'n Cook was a Yorkshireman. Pretty sure the Hawaiians killed him because they couldn't understand his accent. Speaking of Cook, we actually have Cook's Cottage in the Fitzroy Gardens here in Melbourne. It was shipped here back in the 1930s and re-assembled like some big Lego set. Apparently he never lived there but his dad built it so that was considered a tenuous enough link to call it good. When I was a kid I thought he lived there when he moved to Australia. Cue sad music as we see waves wash over white stockinged feet in patent leather shoes with big brass buckles as the water flows red. Fade to black. RIP James. RIP.
Anyway, terrific video. Whitby may be England's best seaside town. I hate to say but it looks better than Rhyl. Sorry Wales. Which reminds me. I was born in New South Wales. Did you know NSW was named by James Cook? He thought the coast of NSW looked like Wales. I'm starting to think James was a bit of an idiot. Unless Wales does have Kangaroos, Koalas, gum trees and indigenous people waving spears when you sail by? Then there was that whole Hawaii thing. Who goes a beautiful peaceful south pacific island and pisses of the indigenous people enough that they kill him on the beach?
Anyway, again, terrific video. Loved the stuff about Stoker as well. Most excellent to see you catch up with the Gen Xers too.
😍🤩🥳🍤🍟🦘🐟🍻
Cheers for watching Shane. Let me try and help you out with the fish and chips.if you want to rough it and have your fish n chips to go - then it’s dismally just fish and chips (possible mushy peas and or gravy). For the posh stuff like prawns - you’re probably looking at sitting down and using things such as plates and cutlery!! Whitby was a great place to visit. We enjoyed learning about Cookson. Maybe he was a bit of an idiot, if you had yokels who ran around close harmony singing and waving leeks then maybe he’s have had a point! No wonder the Hawaiians finished him off!! We’ll hang fire on whether it better than Rhyl, I mean it is prettier, more affluent and classier, but let’s see how many people watch this before the juries in!!! Cheers and have a great week. 🍻
@@PostcardAndAPint 😂 Yokel! 😂
I want my prawns to go dammit. 😂 Eating them off a plate, with cutlery, seems so... posh. And wrong. 😂
Prettier, effluent and classier puts me off a bit now. I think I might be back on board with Rhyl. Number of eyes seems like a really good metric. Up the western RUclips masses, down with the hoighty toighty toffs of the East. Viva la revolution comrades. 😁
PS I knew the lack of a pier was a show stopper 😁
PPS Still a great episode 😍
God bless you in the name of Jesus amen!
Thank you x
Glory be to God in the name of Jesus amen! Hi my name is James and it is always a blessing to fellowship with the body of christ. Recently the lord has led me to start a RUclips channel as well. If you like, see and hear what the lord has put on my heart to share by tuning into my channel. God bless you in the name of Jesus and have a wonderful day amen.
We never seen a beach hut. So do they rent them for the season or own them. Oh the questions
They’re quite a British thing. Some you can rent for a day, some a week and some per season! Sos of them in the south of England go on sale for £50K and more! Crazy for a shed, but they’re really popular!! Cheers for watching 🍻
A Whitby Weekend veteran thinks aloud:-
It's only "perfect" for two weeks in the year - and even then "it's not as it was". Before all the steampunks and other poseurs in fancy-dress got involved, it was so restorative to walk around those cobbled streets and be surrounded by pretty people in black and purple (with some red and gold and white and emerald-green) all of whom you could be sure would have heard of...[to name two relatively trivial and forgettable '90s bands]...Revolution By Night and Seraphim Shock.
Take away Anne S's paintings and piercingly shrill laugh, Joanne's indefatigability, Craig's rude joie de vivre and Anna's mordant wit and - what you have left is an only moderately "picture-Esk" and still rather underresouced "village that time forgot"
Sounds like you have some really fond memories of Whitby. We haven’t visited on the steampunk events, not really our thing. We were just taken with the gorgeous cobbled streets and thriving independent businesses. We loved the Abbey and all of the history too. Great place. Cheers for watching 🍻

Hello, guys !! Well, it must be said that Whitby is absolutely worth a visit and a thorough visit too! It is a beautiful place, with so many things to do and see. Its streets are so quaint, just what I imagine thinking of a typical English town!
Characteristic pubs and ... yapas with a good Moretti beer !!
And then the tour with legend Pete! Is beautiful, but it is extraordinary to climb all those steps and discover the Church and the Abbey in such a magnificent location, and the impressive cemetery.
Oh ... Rachel, really interesting to know more about Dracula's story !!
And in the end, a delicious fisn and chips is a must! I love it!
Beautiful as always to follow you, my dear friends! I have fun with you and discover beautiful and interesting places. Never tired of following your vlog !!
Oh, Rach, I guess you'll have to deal with it ... by now we will start seeing Christmas things around !! To Wills' delight! Hahaha
