Good video. I also have a 2019 ram 1500. That has 134,000 miles on it. I’ve been watching your videos and looking at all my stuff and double checking to make sure everything is still ok with it. So far so good with mine
I agree with that to an extent. A 10 year old vehicle will have been subjected to more static conditions like UV radiation, cold cycles, and general ‘weathering’. But a 3 year old vehicle with the same mileage will have the same interior, drive line, and suspension wear. IMO.
@@MrJustinWheeler Valid point. I don’t think Dave downplayed the 10 year old vehicle, though. I’ve had my Ram for just over 4 months, put about 6500 miles on (bought used at 26000) and am eager to see how this truck plays out. I got a great deal with the one original owner backing into his boat trailer (he actually claimed it for some reason) causing $1200 in damage and a Green alert on carfax. 38.5k for a 2019 Lonestar 4x4 Crewcab 5.7 with those low miles. I’ll be doing a video once I hit 100k as well. My truck sees a lot of use so it’ll be a more true 100k in my opinion.
My 2013 Ram 1500 just turned over 100k miles, I put a 6 inch lift on along with 35's at 85000. I currently get 10.5 mpg, horrible i know, buts its partly due to me always driving with tow/haul on to disable to MDS 4 cylinder deactivation. I have heard that is the true killer of the 5.7's.
Most of this is maintenance and half of it can be solved by $30 for wiper blades, a leather fob cover, and WD-40. I appreciate the updates, and look forward to the 150,000 mile version 🥳
I just bought a Big Horn 1500 about a month and a half ago. Love it so far. Your videos helped with that decision, and after test driving Chevy, Ford, GMC, and Toyota (I have an aversion to Nissan), it was the clear winner. Great series of videos!
Here in Europe there are quite a few Dodge Rams and GMC Sierras, Ford F150s roaming the road. They are too bif for our streets and finding a parking spots is a nightmare. But it's worth it imo, cause those things definitely have a lot of road presence and comfort
I'm considering a 2022 Longhorn. This was very helpful. I won't be running my truck as hard as you have to so I'm feeling pretty good about getting one.
“I don’t choose my fuel because I’m scared of breaking my manifold - I shouldn’t have to” This is gold. I’ve seen so many people out there putting in additives every time they fill the tank up with premium to help the fuel pump and protect the injectors and blah blah. By the time my exclusively 87 octane engine has worn to the point those components are breaking, I’ll be able to replace them all and still have a few extra thousand dollars in my account over those cats who treat their truck like an eggshell.
I don’t use additives often but I had issues on my 5.3 with an injector sticking when cold around 60k miles and after some injector cleaner that issue went away.
Love my 1500 Classic. Daily driver, and light over landing and camping most of the summer. Super reliable, good sound system, and only cost $40k. I did add skid plates and tow brake controller.
I bought a classic too end 2019 with V6. Quitest driving inside truck I've ever owned. Added a steelcraft bumper had it painted color of truck. The oem tin foil one is in the trash. Adding progressive rear springs to bump capacity.
I love my 2019 Ram Laramie Sport. I will hit 100K in the next week or so. The only problem I have had is both exhaust manifolds have cracked and been replaced under warranty.
BLUF: This comment has nothing to add. I don't know how I do it, but I can spot Oklahoma within seconds. The intro shot on the gravel in your previous video looked way too familiar to me. Obviously, your license plate sealed it. Subbed, brother. Gotta help my fellow Okies out!
Very nice that you have made it to 100k. I'm at almost 90k and have had my own problems I had to get fixed or am currently working on getting repaired, everything is handled under my max care warranty so that saves me thousands of dollars
I have a whopping 21,000 miles on my 2016 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4 6.4L Tradesman. Would love to trade up for the 8 speed tranny, but not seeing any deals right now... and it seems like everything that is standard on mine is now optional! Gotta say... I LOVE the 4.10s on mine!
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport CrewCab with the 5.7L Hemi, I have over 150k miles(I put every mile on it myself), yes it is very dependable, yes it has seen some very bad days, but I have maintained it well with scheduled maintenance, yearly brake service, and manufacture recommended service schedule for engine and transmission. The only real failure on the vehicle part is the left rear door wiring harness has quit working and needs to be replaced. I don’t have major dents, there are some light scratches that will buff out, no rips in the interior, no cracks in the dash, before you say it’s not a work truck, I haul cut wood, move furniture, boats, go fishing and hunting with it. There have been numerous time that I have maxed out the payload for this truck and it keeps running strong. P.S. it’s pulled Ford and Chevy and Toyota out of troubled spots. So to end this by answering your question in the video title/description- Yes you should buy the Dodge with the HEMI V8.
Wow, aside from the fuel leak, everything you've experienced seems pretty minor in my opinion. Very impressive, considering the bad rap these trucks seem to get in terms of their reliability. Just goes to show you that proper maintenance on any vehicle goes a long way.
Don't confuse pre 2005~ rams with the new ones. These new rams are incredible and anyone who bashes them probably has no experience in one. They repeat what they hear.
2019 Ram 1500 Laramie 57k miles here - So I have had to replace the exhaust manifold twice now, I have screen ghosting where I can see the previous screen overlay, my steering does the same thing wife told me I was crazy when I told her about it (now I know I'm not losing it,) lastly my tailgate sticks all the time. That has been my experience with the truck so far.
Thank you for posting all of your updated videos. I bought a 2021 Ram Limited and im always curious to see and know what to expect from the future with these trucks! Keep up the great work sir.
@@TruckCentral Have you figured out or are we able to change the light color that around the door knobs, cup holders, etc to a different color? I believe I watched a video where the new fords could do it, as I was curious if you knew how or if it could even be done with the ram. Thanks for your reply!!
For 100,000 miles, Sounds like a successful ownership. Surprised they replaced the fuel pump under warranty with that many miles. Your dealer must be willing to step up.👍
Depends on what you do with it. I will consistently put 60k each year on my truck so 10 years 300k is not possible for some & doesn’t make financial sense for those that drive this much. But that’s why I keep 1 or 2 other older vehicles - 2000 Cherokee that I’ve had for 10 years with 260k on the body which has been reinforced anyway. This will rack up to well over 500k miles over time - everything can be fixed.
Man my third gen 1500 with 176k miles on it just had the fuel pump go and I literally cruised in neutral on the interstate with my blinker on til I got to the next exit and managed to make it to the ramp which was safer and easier for tow truck. I still haven’t broken any of the things you mentioned though. I change my brake pads every 50k miles or less just because and my spare tire winch has never given me problems. I am in Florida though so no freezing going on. I offroad the truck a lot and mud hasn’t caked up in there. I’m looking at a 2022 ram 1500 big horn 4x4 now as they seem to be the most economical for my price range and they can look sweet and have a similar to Laramie interior - we’ll see.
My 2012 Hemi RAM has 169k. Replaced front sticking calipers after going through hurricane water for a week, cam/lifters replaced, brake pads, blower resistor, spark plugs, belt, battery, exhaust manifold bolts, radiator cap, and still drives like new.
2004 Ram 1500 5.7, 331,000 miles on engine and trans, zero problems. Changed thermostat to 185 degree at 90,000 and run full syn. and Lucas gas treatment every tank.
@@MrJustinWheeler Purchased it new in Feb. 2004. Now it has 4" front spindle life, 1" rear, 34" tires, detriot tru trac, durabak coating over the entire truck and Move front and rear bumpers. Runs strong thru the desert, mountains, etc.
I went with powerstop rotors and pads on my 2015 ram limited, so far pretty impressed with stopping ability with camper in tow and just driving around empty.
Thank you so much for sharing. 96K so far on a 2019 Limited 1500. I had two big issues with mine. Rear window was not sealed well. Water leaked into the headliner. I had permanent water mark on my headliners. Recently, I just found the dashboard is busted. Now I have a hole on my dashboard... smh. Tried to find if anybody has similar issues and how to address it. So far, no luck.
Same issue here on my limited ram 2019. Dealership fixed this by replacing brake lamp and fixing seal. Water tested and they seemed the fix this after 3 attempts.
2009 for the first gen Ramboxes, our Laramie has them. They haven't warped, though they do require a good hard close to get them to be fully shut properly. In the winter, the key cylinder button will get stuck on occasion. My dad bought the truck with 170K KM, and we're in the 240K range, and other than the usual maintenance issues and the stretched manifold studs on the 5.7l Hemi, ours has been fine. Currently we're dealing with continuing rust on the rocker panels (due to the salt belt of Ontario, Canada). I think we need to order proper Rust Converter, as opposed to just the basic protection, due to the paint mixture doesn't do enough, since we've replaced the panels (and as usual, the rust has returned.
I replaced broken bolt/s on my 2011 Doge Ram 1500 exhaust manifold around the 70,000 mile mark. This issue is well known among Ram owners. I put 105,000 miles on it without having any more issues, before trading it in for 2020 model.
Stuck Tailgate is an issue I have with my 2019 Ram as well. I don't believe it is the latch at all, but rather a sensor issue. It isn't "stuck" per say...it thinks it opened it. I just push mine shut again (even though it is already shut) and then it releases perfectly. Given the simplicity, I've not investigated further. Excellent information brother.
Interesting observation. I actually haven't tried pushing shut, and then pushing the button again. I usually just grab it and try to manhandle it open. I will try that next time it sticks. Thanks for sharing!
I would steer clear of drilled and slotted rotors for high mileage applications. I drive a pilot car and run about 70k miles per year and in my experience, they just cause your pads to wear faster. I suggest a heavy duty break pad. If you want to spend the time and money you could also do larger front rotors and calipers.
Yeah I think you’re probably right. I just love the look of drilled and slotted rotors. They would look awesome on this truck, but probably not the most practical. Thanks for the suggestion!
Drilled and slotted rotors are a waste, just get slotted if anything. Professional race teams don't run drilled rotor because they crack under high heat.
I have a 2013 with the ram boxes with 92k miles so far the only thing I had to replace was the backup camera, tires, wipers, brakes, both keys and the battery 🤞🏾
2015 5.3 slt 6spd crew short box. 120k. I have changed the rear brakes, wiper blades. Replaced diff fluids and transfer case juice. Numerous Oil changes. Checked iridium plugs - still good. Broken list would be a goose egg. Professional grade only.
And here I am having just gotten rid of my 2017 5.3 Silverado in September because of all the issues I was having. It had roughly 40kmi on it and the transmission had been repaired twice and was starting to feel like a third was coming , the tailgate didn't like to drop, and I had to do the brakes all around as the pads started to crumble off the backing plates. I leased it with plans to buy it out at the end since I got a good deal and it was cheaper in the long run but I ended up eating the over mile charges instead because there is no way that transmission was going to hold up long term and with the other quality issues I was having I figured I'd just cut my losses and get something different
@@BigBenC1991 Such similar reviews is why I didn't buy another GM truck. I'm confused though. Given that this vid was about a Ram, why such a long post about your POS Silverado? You looking at buying a Ram instead now or what?
@@ectofix8447 Yeah, I bought a Ram in September when I got rid of the Silverado. I was mainly just sharing my contrasting experience to bob cook's for others to see so they can make informed decisions of their own. At least I assumed he was speaking of a GM since he mentioned a 5.3
Well actually over it’s nothing really. Could be worse of course. As long as the motor, transmission, diff and electronics hold up. Those are my main concerns. Buddy was telling me Chevys also have issues on the 5.3 for cracked manifolds. He is are known for that for years but that’s one poison I will pick for have a great engine overall. Hope you keep going 💪. Look forward to more updates. Cheers.
I have a 2013 standard cab Express 1500, 5.7. Bought it with 13,000 miles in 2015. This past week, it just crossed the 60k line. This far, aside from recalls, there have been few issues. One small problem. The pull for the emergency brake release broke. It still functions, but the pivot will no longer lock in at the henge. I keep the oil changed (Mobile 1, Full Synthetic) and as a retired person, don’t put a lot of mileage per year. I’ve read about the lifter issues, so keep my ears open for any unusual tapping. So far, nothing. I made a few minor alterations, immediately after purchase. Installed an enclosed SB cold air intake, with a high flow filter. Upgraded the throttle body to a 48mm and then retuned with an Edge Tuner for 92 octane. The gas mileage improved by 2 mpg immediately. That is if I can keep my foot off the accelerator too much. Since tuning it last, we moved to a state with 93 octane fuel. I have yet to retune for the higher octane. Soon. My next step will be to install new headers and higher flow exhaust. I’m pretty satisfied. Truck is fully paid for the last four years and runs well. Can’t ask for much more than that.
For brakes, your best bet is a good set of pads (ceramic) and a solid rotor. Drilled rotors warp really easy. Slotted isn't necessary if you have a nice clean wearing pad. Check out engineering explained's video on the differences between rotors as far as cooling goes.
Good advice, thank you! Deep down I just love the look of drilled and/or slotted. But agree the solid rotor and a good pad is probably the way to go. Thanks for watching!
@@MrJustinWheeler they do look good. My wife's accord had a set when we first bought it. They developed a crack between the drill holes. No hard braking or anything.
Yep, mine stopped blowing cold after the first year and it stopped blowing hot after the second winter (all under 34,000 miles). It was like a timer was set and everything started to fail....
@@jaredglass2562 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel ... issues under 36,000 >>> 4 transfer cases, radiator sludged out, wiring harness stripped off bottom of truck driving over field grass (stranded for an entire day first week of ownership), injectors all replaced, air suspension fails every winter (as soon as temps get into the 20's - valve won't seal), no heat/air, various electrical shorts, bulbs burning out (rear cab high hat), curling of Ram Box ends, fuel pump replaced 2x. The Max Care warranty was a must. I didn't trust the vehicle at all within the first three years. Warranty paid for itself. It has 78,000 miles on it now. One more year worth of warranty up to 100k. @@MrJustinWheeler With that and the RamBox, i really love it. It makes putting stuff in the bed so much easier with less reach. Mine is Tri-coat White. Its or they are really nice riding trucks.
WD-40 will fix your stuck tailgate! I thought it was temperature based, which may still be true. But after I put some WD-40 lube haven’t had a problem since
Pb Blast will last longer than wd 40 but might soften plastics. My personal favorite spray lube is lucas extreme duty clp. Safe for the polymer used in guns(mostly pa6 30 percent glass fiber) so should be fine on the plastics in the tailgate area and won't eat away at the bio degradable wire insulation either. Also it is a non toxic bio degradable product.
mine just hit 105k. Still running excellent. I put Mobil 1 synthetic every 7500 miles. Changed the battery last January. That's about it. Just changed the spark plugs today.
If you're not knock detonating under load your octane is fine. Hemi manifolds and cats have been cracking and melting down for dozens of years now. That was the reason for me to unload my hemi durango years ago. That pile was letting me know in what direction it was heading.
Always add pressure to the spare tire mount when winding up. Without pressure on it it gets loose wraps then when it's get unwound everything binds. Thin about any wrench you always want pressure on it when winding up.
I got the manifold stud failure at 35000 miles which sucks but even with a cold air intake and an aftermarket exhaust the dealer fixed it no questions asked free of charge
Thanks for the review. You would think ram would figure out the manifold issue. It’s been going on for years. FYI. My 16 has has premium fuel since it’s first full and I’ve had to replace both sides
Dollar Tree sells an octane boost for $1 that seems to work very well in my truck with 87 octane..I haven't calculated it yet but I know it raises the octane on a whole tank of gas if I add one bottle to each tank. I can feel it on pickup too. 91 octane gas is about 30-35 cents higher per gallon. 26 gallons x 30 cents = $7.80 versus $1 for a bottle of octane boost seems like a bargain to me.
Its pretty common especially if you live up north it seems where you see snow and salt on the roads. I would lube it up with some white lithium grease. I have actually seen a couple times where the cable just broke and dropped the spare out from under a truck. It happened one night when I was at work. I was outside calling up some of the strippers to get them off their ass and to work and an S10 pulled up to the stop sign out front and the tire just dropped out from under it. Dude took off don't know how he didn't notice something was wrong with the loud bang lol. Then some girl in an old turd Honda Accord drove up and drove over it lol. It was lodged right under the rocker up against the right rear tire.
I have a 2017 RAM Laramie @ 120k miles. The only major work I had to perform was replacing the fuel sensor. Other than that, it has been typical wear items like brakes, belts, etc.
The biggest problem with any FCA vehicle is inconsistency. I've seen some that go 100k with out any problems and I've seen some that go 10k and need a transmission. I've seen a RAM that was built wrong from the factory, the frame was so out of place the tires could not be aligned. There almost never seems to be a middle ground when it comes to how well FCA builds their vehicles. It's either a great vehicle or a lemon.
The manual even recommends 89 octane and I've tested it myself 87 vs 89. The 5.7 is tuned for 89 octane and actually gets better fuel economy and performance from it
You are right. I get a fuel card from my company because I drive so much. It is our company policy to only use 87 octane. So I get the option of using free 87, or paying for 89. Easy choice for me. Haha. Thanks for watching.
@@MrJustinWheeler have that discussion every winter with the owner of the semi I lease lol. He says I don't need to add antigel but then I gel up and then he's OK with me using it lol
Yeah run 89 if you can. These engines like it a lot better. Occasionally I'll run 87 in a pinch, but prefer to run premium. You spend 70k on a Limited, you should use the fuel the engineers recommend.
bought an 06 1500 ram 5.7 and just turned 260k on it. I keep up with routine maintenance and have not had to do any major replacements on parts aside from the norm.... brakes, front wheel bearings, a couple of calipers and rotors , tie rods etc.... its running great but only one issue is like most others the same year make model I have the same common issues with tachometer and other associated electrical issues on the dash From not having a good solder from the factory. sadly this started happening WAY out of warranty so the dealer won't do anything
The fuel pump issue, just happened to my neighbors 19 ram at 40k miles. and he only had the 3/36mile warranty Cost him $1000.they said they replaced the pump and tank.
I had a 96 f150 xlt for 15yrs Michigan truck 5liter duratech motor drive train strong as ever . Replaced front and rear suspension, both gas tank leaked, oil pan leaked (not around gasket) truck completely rusted out. Brothers 96 did same
I have a 04 ram with 192000 mikes on it. It's the best truck I've ever had. My exhaust manifold just cracked but noise goes away in 30 seconds when warm so haven't gotten it fixed yet. Thanks for video. I'm hoping for a new truck this fall and you've given me some things to think about.
Thanks for making these videos - still deciding whether to trade my Honda Accord in for a used truck and I was looking at the Ram 1500 2019 and now I have to pause.
I've got a 2012 Sport I got it in September 2018 with 28k miles...have 60k on it now (got an extended warranty thankfully) and I've had the steering rack fail, both exhaust manifolds warped and broken bolts, and now the back up sensor control module is bad (which for some reason they put them in the headliner!) AND some baffling in the muffler has come loose. I love this truck though...rides amazing...just not sure if I'm going to keep it passed September 2023 when the warranty goes... If I ran it hard, I'd understand but I baby this truck...and she still breaks!
Hi! Thanks for the informative video! I was just wondering if you made a video in regards to the exhaust manifold problem that you mentioned? I searched the other videos but maybe I just missed it? I’d like to learn a little more about that particular problem you had. Thanks!!
Hey man thanks for the info. Just traded my 15 for a 23. The 2015 abs control module failed and they couldn't get one till March 20 2024 lol. Could not get it inspected or registered like that so I had to upgrade. Man, what a nice truck the 23 Laramie Sport is lol. My wife has an 18 Hydro Blue sport as well. She just hit 100k on the same Brake pads also. As for the ehaust manifold issue I will most likely have shorty headers soon anyway lol. If my 2023 is anywhere near as reliable as the 15 and 18 then I will be happy. Thanks again.
My theory on exhaust manifolds: The Aluminum heads have a higher thermal expansion than cast iron/steel. Looking at the cast iron manifold design, which is very low profile/compact, there isn't much in the design to deal with the thermal expansion cycles so I guess eventually it stresses the manifolds to breakage. Headers would probably fix it (they can flex more), or design/material improvement. Either way I'd rather have this problem than many others lol.
They also use grade 5 bolts from the factory, aluminum heads + iron manifolds and junk bolts = break. Happened twice on my '12 ram, I had the dealer fix it and they used grade 5 again so the second time I did it myself and I used grade 8. Now the truck has 198k and they haven't broke. I did the 2nd repair at 110k.
The tailgate release mechanism inside can be adjusted some how. Took dealer five minutes to adjust it and it has worked perfectly ever since. Sounds more powerful when it releases.
My dads has a 19 rebel and his tail gate gets stuck but he did get rear ended pretty bad and the tail gate was replaced so I always thought it gets stuck cuz of that
I own a 2014 ram 1500. We bought it from dealer with 7 miles. It has been though 3 pro mud pits. Towed bobcats heavy dump trailer with dirt. Now has 201000 + miles. It's a tough truck!! We have not done anything major. I do all my own work and never experience anything your talking about!!
I'm having an issue fueling. I like to keep half a tank with rising prices and then fill up. However putting the fuel filler in it frequently stops just putting in say .30 worth of gas. I try to hold the handle slightly rather than a full grip and fuel trickles.. i can sometimes continue filling up .10 cents at a time and it is time consuming and a real pain in the azz. My truck is a 2020 Ram Bighorn V-8.
I had a 19 Rebel took it everywhere & did everything with it i loved the truck, It’s not unusual for hardware 1.0 to have problems that said sometimes you’ll get a lemon.
Overall not bad at all, never heard of the nut on the steering coming loose. Thats a first may be an odd rarity. Manifolds are a given. Lol Still overall id trust the 5.7 Hemi
Bought a used 2012 ram and motor went out. Replaced motor and 4 months after warranty was done the timing tesioner shattered because it is plastic. In process of repairing but not sure i want to put anymore money into truck. I am looking at a 2019 ram bighorn with 80,000 on it. Gluten for punishment i guess dut ram is the best looking truck on the road.
2009 and later ram trucks are the most reliable truck made .We have had 9 since than and all have had around 200,000 miles and never back in for service. We will see how our 2021 limited will last now.
since these engines are known for bad lifters. I would highly recommend everyone use oil with PAO and Ester base stock(actual real synthetic oil). these oils cling to metal. no, mobil 1, royal purple, amsoil, valvoline etc is real synthetic oil. motul and MPT thirty K oils are 2 of the best options.
You talked about things you liked and didn't, but what would your overall review be? Are you happy with the truck overall? Would you buy it again knowing what you know now?
Great vid. I wanna ram really bad but I don't like problems. I have a 2008 Honda Ridgeline without one single rattle runs perfect 150000 miles I wish the US car makers would learn something from honda.
It's not knowing how to build a vehicle is the problem. Its money. A family that worked for GM years ago said he developed a part for a vehicle for 5 cents and it'll last 300k miles. Management said make it worth 2 cents and 100k miles. It's anecdotal, but just goes to show it's money money money. Assholes.
Rolled over 100k in my 14 last month. Got the infamous HEMI lifter chirp at around 90k and it sounds like she'll blow any day now 😔 but before that the only failure was one bad alternator @65k or so.
Its always at 100k and more when you really start seeing the thing have problems, i hear allot of people saying they have 60k and have no issues! at 60k you really should not have any issues at all
I’ve been having trouble buying a used ram 1500… I get hung up on the etorque. How valuable is it and should I hold out for one with etorque? Or settle for a truck that checks off everything I want minus the etorque? I WOULD REALLY VALUE YOUR OPINION. thank you
Drilled amd slotted rotors are great. But your brake pads will not last long at all. Just imagine a cheese grater what it does to cheese. Well that's what happens to your bakes with drilled and slotted rotors especially towing heavy. Look into EBC brake pads. I believe the yellow is the best.
I just put power stop rotors and pads on my 15 and they are drilled and slotted. I had a 05 jetta tdi and got 173k on oem pads and rotors and then sold it at 305k with drilled and slotted and didn't see a brake job coming for atleast another 40k. I know it's a light car but apples to apples they didn't wear any worse
Well I know on my 04 with 135k upper control arms twice once under warranty $600 plus AC doors twice once under warranty $2,000 but I did have them changed evaporator and heater core wheel bearings did myself about $200 AC radiator fan did myself. Fuel pump leaking when running dealer charge $600 plus

100k on a 10 year old vehicle is a bit different than the 'wear' on a 3 year old vehicle with a 100k. Likely a fair bit of hwy miles
You will not regret that truck.
Have you made the purchase? I'm about to purchase a 2022 big horn
“I don’t choose my fuel because I’m scared of breaking my manifold - I shouldn’t have to”
This is gold.
Amen brother. It ain’t a Ferrari, after all. Thanks for watching!
I film with 87 and always put 2 Lucas injector cleaner with my 34 gallon tank since new I now have 48k
I don’t use additives often but I had issues on my 5.3 with an injector sticking when cold around 60k miles and after some injector cleaner that issue went away.
Here is a tip use the fuel recommended by the manufacturer because there is always a good reason for it

Ramboxes debuted in 2009. I almost got them on mine but went with the longer bed instead
Lubricate the cable on your spare tire at least once a year you won't have that problem. Spray with a lithium grease or Lucas red Grease.

After 102k miles on the 2020, the biggest repairs I made so far were replacing the starter twice and the battery once
Two starters in the first three years? Yikes
Good video can’t wait to still see more and so far looks like the warranty is very worth it
I have a whopping 21,000 miles on my 2016 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4 6.4L Tradesman.
In the past ram denfitny wasn't the greatest but I really believe they are the most reliable 1500 out there right now ( or at least 2 to the tundra)

For 100,000 miles,
Sounds like a successful ownership.
Surprised they replaced the fuel pump under warranty with that many miles.
Your dealer must be willing to step up.👍
Yeah, I have been pretty happy with the whole dealer/warranty situations. Good guys. Thanks for watching!
It’s 2 years old. For a 60,000$ truck, 10 years as a work truck and 300k miles is a successful ownership.
That’s awesome. Love seeing that kind of mileage. How long have you owned it?

Thank you so much for sharing. 96K so far on a 2019 Limited 1500. I had two big issues with mine. Rear window was not sealed well. Water leaked into the headliner. I had permanent water mark on my headliners. Recently, I just found the dashboard is busted. Now I have a hole on my dashboard... smh. Tried to find if anybody has similar issues and how to address it. So far, no luck.
Same issue here on my limited ram 2019. Dealership fixed this by replacing brake lamp and fixing seal. Water tested and they seemed the fix this after 3 attempts.
Do you guys happen to have sunroofs?
Sounds like a pretty good 100k with the exception of the fuel pump.👏🏾👏🏾
@@MrJustinWheeler let me know if it works for you if you think about it. I hope it helps!
Strongly agree with you... Larger pads and rotors would be the way to go, especially with the 22” Limited rims (plenty of clearance)

I have a 19 Rebel with RAM Boxes it has 18K miles...... no issues...... you have driven that truck hard!! I have a leather sleeve on my FOB......

@@MrJustinWheeler agreed.... good luck bro!!

Always add pressure to the spare tire mount when winding up. Without pressure on it it gets loose wraps then when it's get unwound everything binds. Thin about any wrench you always want pressure on it when winding up.

My 2012 Silverado has the same problem with the spare tire wench not coming back down without weight on it.
Other than that, it has been typical wear items like brakes, belts, etc.
the level sensor for the tank? mine went on my 17 @ about 75 k kms. still works fine if you keep the tank over 1/3 oddly enough lol

My theory on exhaust manifolds:
The Aluminum heads have a higher thermal expansion than cast iron/steel.
Agreed, that’s a pretty good assessment.
Hmmm... I didn't know it was adjustable. I might have to look into that. Thanks for sharing!
This guy can talk about anything and everything
My dads has a 19 rebel and his tail gate gets stuck but he did get rear ended pretty bad and the tail gate was replaced so I always thought it gets stuck cuz of that
I own a 2014 ram 1500. We bought it from dealer with 7 miles.
It has been though 3 pro mud pits.
Towed bobcats heavy dump trailer with dirt. Now has 201000 + miles.
It's a tough truck!!
We have not done anything major.
I do all my own work and never experience anything your talking about!!
Thanks for posting! I’m curious though if you leave MDS on or you’ve been turning it off?
Just traded a 2015 1500 In yesterday. Great truck still and it had 134,000 on it. Was gonna try for 300,000 but got a deal
To good to refuse.
Smart, trade in values on the 4th gens are crazy high right now. Congrats on your new truck!
What did you upgrade to?
Go for 300,000 on this one please and let me know once you get there it will be really cool to see and review a ram with so many miles!
@@adrielverdon that is the plan! Luckily it won’t take me long. (:
I'm having an issue fueling. I like to keep half a tank with rising prices and then fill up. However putting the fuel filler in it frequently stops just putting in say .30 worth of gas. I try to hold the handle slightly rather than a full grip and fuel trickles.. i can sometimes continue filling up .10 cents at a time and it is time consuming and a real pain in the azz. My truck is a 2020 Ram Bighorn V-8.
I would ask the dealer if the tailgate latches need to be greased, having dirty grease on it could cause it to occasionally hang up
I had a 19 Rebel took it everywhere & did everything with it i loved the truck, It’s not unusual for hardware 1.0 to have problems that said sometimes you’ll get a lemon.
Overall not bad at all, never heard of the nut on the steering coming loose. Thats a first may be an odd rarity. Manifolds are a given. Lol
Still overall id trust the 5.7 Hemi
I hadn’t heard about the steering nut issue either until I posted the first review video. Lots of others chimed in about it. Thanks for watching!
My 2006 Tundra has 454,000. My work truck is 2012 Tundra with the 4.6 with 337,000. Can’t pay me to buy anything else.
Wow! Thats great.
200,000 on my 2005 tundra . Traded In on 2016 limited 80 k on it now love it
I was gonna buy one.... but that interior was boring af... but cant go wrong with toyota.
I wouldn't ever be worried about the engines to be honest. Now days it's everything else that breaks.
since these engines are known for bad lifters. I would highly recommend everyone use oil with PAO and Ester base stock(actual real synthetic oil). these oils cling to metal. no, mobil 1, royal purple, amsoil, valvoline etc is real synthetic oil. motul and MPT thirty K oils are 2 of the best options.
You have a beautiful truck by the way.
Thank you Erik!
You talked about things you liked and didn't, but what would your overall review be? Are you happy with the truck overall? Would you buy it again knowing what you know now?

Did you ever have any issues hearing a high pitched whining sound when accelerating at higher speeds?
sounds like you have a great dealership, lucky.
Assholes.
I have a big 2021 horn. It is temperature based fine in the 50-degree weather at 20 degree it will not open
great review! Thanks for sharing!
Great video.
Thank you sir!!
Rolled over 100k in my 14 last month. Got the infamous HEMI lifter chirp at around 90k and it sounds like she'll blow any day now 😔 but before that the only failure was one bad alternator @65k or so.
The manifolds are leaking too. Got it fixed twice and have now accepted it.
Its always at 100k and more when you really start seeing the thing have problems, i hear allot of people saying they have 60k and have no issues! at 60k you really should not have any issues at all
09. My ram boxes still look good after 12 years owning
Did you do anything to keep them in good shape? Seems like some survive and some just get wrecked.
@@MrJustinWheeler kept up with the plastic ( mother's black tirm), use wax car wash soap.
Only reason why I got the ram
I’ve been having trouble buying a used ram 1500… I get hung up on the etorque. How valuable is it and should I hold out for one with etorque? Or settle for a truck that checks off everything I want minus the etorque?
I WOULD REALLY VALUE YOUR OPINION. thank you
Wait how long is warranty? I’m only worried about the fuel pump
