My favorite random little tidbit that I learned about Melee Doctor Mario is that his black alt makes him extremely hard to see on Battlefield, when played on an old TV with bad contrast.
As someone who has 0 experience with PM, I love these videos. It's awesome seeing the progression from Melee to PM, and what aspects were kept, tweaked, or changed.
My dream is to one day have Mario be legitimately competitive in Melee. He's such a *fun* character to play and his movement feels so good, but the lack of range and lack of kill confirms makes him miserable in a competitive setting.
Always baffled by these comments. If you're not a top 500 player and don't plan to be, you can compete just fine with Mario, even without L cancels or power slides. Gold Marios beat silver Marths all day long.

I think it would be interesting to compare how PM Mario and SSB4/Ult Mario changed from their Melee/Brawl counterparts and how they turned a middling character into a solid high tier.
I wish they never decided to make doctor Mario slower in smash 4. The current games feel like they lack a solid character to learn the game with now that Mario is all rushdown and other beginner characters like Kirby also being bottom of the barrel. A Doctor Mario with ultimate marios movement speed but with a higher focus on defensive walling, zoning, and edgeguarding to take stocks, would be very fun and a great character to suggest to new players.
You hands down have the best content for explaining characters. Please keep them coming man. This helped my doc and Mario play so much better with the understanding of them.
Doc should have been an alt in Smash. He was going to be an alt in Smash 4, but ended up being his own separate character again. The Builder and Wedding alts just make Dr. Mario being his own character make even less sense.

Just to say, melee upb walljump is much more lenient than PMs and I'm tired of people thinking otherwise. Both are relatively big windows but melees when used when you could do it in PM is twice the input frames. PM is always frames 17-20. Melees is variable, but same start positions gives frames 23-29 as the window. Worst case melee in cases where it's literally not possible in PM is a 2 frame window.
I've never been able to tell if the doc Nair line was a joke because everyone's heard too many times or because someone prominent said it and it was wrong. It's been years.

You missed one crucial element of doc/mario in melee you'll always get matched up against one as your first or last game of the day on slippi unranked making them twice as annoying to deal with :p
Junebug's PM Mario tutorial w/ Gallo is what help met get into the EUPM scene back in ~2016. Even 7 years later his content broadens my knowledge, helping me enjoy the game even more. Thanks for your awesome videos

mario and dr mario jabs are not the same. Dr mario's is slower - you cant cancel jab1 into jab2 into jab3 as quickly. Dr mario cancel from jab1 into jab2 is frame 14 (mario is 6) and cancel into jab 3 is frame 16 (also frame 6 for mario)
Plz consider doing young link/toon link next, I remember watching axe yl at Press Start 2015 and it inspired me to pick up tink in PM. Plus yl is picking up relevance with Rocket making top 100

Can I just say that it’s bullshit that ucf fixed dashback (1 frame input) but not Mario up-b cancel (1 frame input). My controller has pode, so I can’t even do it consistently anymore.
Haven't seen it in the comments so You didn't mention the usmash difference Specifically the fact that Doc's end hitbox spikes grounded opponents Like at 12:15 That aside I really hate that they gutted Doc's speed stats in 4/Ultimate He's still fun to use but he's useless compared to Mario now
