  • I was honored to be able to review such a prestigious relic from the not-so-distant past. I am not surprised in the least bit how well this LX has held up over the years. I will have an LX because of the size, reliability, comfort, and versatility.

    Nice work on this video tour Kirk! I have an ’04 with 250,000 miles and she looks and drives like she has 30,000 miles! I will mention a few things that I noticed in the video… the steel mesh vents at the outside D-pillar you pointed out are actually pressure equalizers that allow air to escape the cabin when closing the doors, all modern cars use them since cabins are sealed so tightly these days but most have them hidden under the wheel wells so this is just another cool detail that shows how Toyota/Lexus thinks for themselves when it comes to design. Also, if the timing belt was done 100,000 ago it is due for another one as they should be done every 90,000 miles. The “rear vent” buttons don’t close the HVAC vents but rather open and close the rearmost side glass panels for fresh air ventilation. The 6-disc CD changer has a DVD logo on it meaning you can also watch movies on the Nav screen as long as you’re in “Park” and the e-brake is pulled up.
    The steps on each side of the second row seat is to allow access to the third row, as are the handles nearby. The unit on the back of the center console is for rear passengers to listen to the radio station of their choice independent from the front using headphones.
    You’re right that the “speak assist” button on the steering wheel doesn’t work great but it does handle simple commands like saying “68-degrees” and it will auto-adjust for you. Tire pressures should be 29psi front and 35psi rear, many people and even dealers put them all to 35psi which causes some front end floating at highway speeds. If your Nav is hard to see with the brightness all the way up be sure to also adjust the contrast. The mirrors actually do fold down when you reverse but you need to set the mirror button to “L” or “R” to activate the function.
    I love Sand Dollar Pearl, a very unique color. Good luck to you, if you want one you will get one my friend!

As for your distaste for the Navi you should spend just a few moments with the manual and note back then in the (07’) era the software requires command prompts first to initiate the location i.e, “destination” restaurant, gas station etc...or “place call”...blah blah. For sure its not a smartphone w/ Siri who can decipher the word Starbucks, come on this is 2007 we’re talking the iphone 3G was barely hip yet LOL.

    My vote Kirk...you should have a karaoke segment during every car review! The Journey segment was too funny. Each car you review should have a theme song.

    You need to learn about the vehicle before you review it. I had the 2006 which is the same as the 2007 you 're reviewing. II was appalled how you didn't know what many of the buttons and features were. I now have a third generation 2014 LX. Most things are the same , just slightly redesigned. Almost everything you said you didn't know what it was for, has the same in the newer version.

    My understanding is that the headlight housings are still made of glass on that generation of Lexus SUVs. If only ALL vehicles came like that.

    Lol I was asking you about it last week
    Now that you have driven it What s your thoughts
    Is it an upgrade,downgrade or similar.....
    Some thing about the suspension when you have it in sport mode it makes the car flat when you go around comers
    The engine cover is one of the best of Lexus
    It looks so solid and like it's made of metal also the design and pattern in it looks really good
    Unlike other models that look very cheapy

    • @KirkKreifels
      @KirkKreifels  6 лет назад +2

      Ahmed Moosaji I love the vehicle. It gets around 11mpg which is a huge decrease compared to the rx400/450h. If fuel cost is no issue I'd take the LX every time.
