These bikes are not only used by school children and young adults. I'm riding a 2019 Carrera Crossfire II (had from new) and I'm 69 but It's kept in top order and I love it. Thanks for vids keep up the good work.
Learned so much by watching your channel - your professionalism attention to detail and going above and beyond is something I appreciate as I’m sure so do your customers - pleasure to watch someone who not only is good at what they do but also clearly enjoys their work - thanks for making this available for us
Thanks tinkerer! We always appreciate a comment like this, thanks for watching!🧡
That bike was not only serviced, it was renewed! Looks like a complete different bicycle
Thanks Jorge! 🧡⚙️
Love that this bike was rescued and has new life.
It’s got some more use in it definitely, but the next service it’ll need a few parts that’s for sure ⚙️
These are so satisfying to watch! I got a bike off a friend to do up, I only have use of one arm, but I still managed to totally rebuild it! Thanks for all the entermainment chaps!
Wow that’s an incredible story adam! Thanks for watching, enjoy your work🧡⚙️
Brilliant work. All those little details really show that you care about the bikes you work on, even if they aren’t fancy expensive bikes.
Wish I knew a bike shop near me where people showed as much dedication as you do. The bike shops around here do exactly what they promise, but nothing else, they don’t go that extra mile like you guys show on your videos every single week.
We spoke about this comment in the shop today, thanks for the very kind words! Enjoy the videos 🧡⚙️
As always, the gold standard of bike servicing. Well done.
Thanks for all the support Greg 💪🏼🧡⚙️
Great to see the grime come off, plenty of life in that bike now.
Sometimes we don’t realize what we’ve done until we see the before and after ourselves! 🧡⚙️
Wonderful to see you gentlemen caring for this bike as well as for way costlier bikes. Congratulations!
Thanks! 💪🏼🧡
Love this - anything that prevents unneccessary waste, whether its for a kid to bash about on or for an adult to use to commute! Its great!
I'm doing the same thing in the garage as well! Same bike and everything, so this has been useful! I bought a new bike so thought I'd do a tear down and rebuild to learn everything so I can keep the new one in better condition!
Another bike back on the road for the owner to enjoy 👌 great work as always 👍
Another great service. Anyone would be happy to ride this clean, well serviced bike.
Thanks for all the support again Todd, glad you liked this one🧡⚙️
It’s like watching someone perform CPR on a bike. Love watching these bikes brought back to life. 👍👍
Awesome! Thanks for watching Stuart🧡⚙️
Brilliant again, love the way the Carrera turned out. Thanks, Dave, Mooloolaba, Queensland, Australia
Thanks for the support dave!🇦🇺🧡
Awesome video! Managed to catch it before the graveyard shift too :)
There you are! Good for everyone
Great to see you do the same professional job on this well used Carrera as some of the more top end bikes you service. I love to see a well used bike.
We enjoy doing the day to day stuff is often more satisfying bringing a bike like this back than doing the high end stuff! 🧡⚙️
Thanks for another great video. Another bicycle ready to provide a smile to its owner.
Agreed!🧡⚙️
Awesome to watch especially with it being my own bike! Thank you very much
Was a pleasure!🧡⚙️
That was worth the wait. Well done and a great bike service.
Thanks Mike! We did our best this week to get it out to you🧡⚙️
Another bike saved from the dump
This one was saved but only just, it’s gonna need some new parts next time that’s for sure ⚙️
It'd be really nice if you could also post some videos upgrading bikes, explaining why individual parts had been replaced with something better.
If we get one in worth filming we will🧡
Another great service-so impressive. Question: how do you get the insides of components (e.g., derailleur, cassette) dry after you clean them? Do you blow them dry with an air compressor? Or just air dry?
We use microfibre towels and occasionally an airline⚙️
Great result on that bike 👍
Thanks again!🧡⚙️
Great service as usual guys !! Gutted had to wait an extra day 😉
Haha we tried our best this week but couldn’t manage it🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds Don't let it happen again !! 😉
Lovely video. Thanks so much.
Love a nice clean bike great job 👍
Thanks Clive!⚙️
Thanks!
Thanks for the super thanks Jonathan, it’s a massive help to us! All the best, Lee and Simon🧡⚙️
Crackin' job yet again.
Thanks!!🧡⚙️
Excellent work guys!
Thanks Ivory!🧡⚙️
Nice and shiny again!! Thumbs up
Thumbs up to you two 👍🏼⚙️
Great work!!
Thanks again Tom! 🧡⚙️
Another great video...
Thanks!!🧡⚙️
Big difference for before & after. Good job on a budget, unfortunate to see the slashed tire.
It is a shame that things like that happen⚙️
Nice👍
Love these videos, even though I watched them all, I always come back in case I find a new tip on bike maintenance. The progress and your voice is therapeutic. I’m impressed you never have to adjust disc calliper position after maintenance to make sure there is no rubbing. Is that an experience thing or do you have a secret?
Being a big fan of brakes with high biting point, I don’t leave much clearance between pads and the disc so adjusting them to prevent rubbing takes a few tries.
I've never seen the back of a pad seize to the piston, I would think the anti-seize would be more likely to contaminate the pads than provide any meaningful benefit
Or end up getting sucked into the piston seals and into the hydraulic system. I think loads of people don't check or move pads from the caliper regularly, this fixes that potential issue.
I love how you describe the bike as "tired" and "sad". Poor thing.
Haha it’s happy again now though!🧡⚙️
Didn’t think you were going to upload this week but still a good vid bike speeds
It’s a monumental task filming a video a week alongside our usual work but we just about managed even if it was late lol🧡⚙️
40 y/o here with a little used but neglected 2nd had carrera vengeance... thank you for this video, its REALLY helpful. I came to learn better how to improve the brakes but i've learned so much more. Next sunny day and i'll be out in the yard having a go!
Question - the copper grease I saw you using on back of brake pads/pistons to prevent the rust ring and squeaking. Do you use this same grease on the other metal contact points like on the axel etc... I couldn't tell what you were using where. Thank you!
Yes we use copper grease on metal to metal contacts, we actually sell that kit on www.bikespeeds.com/shop 🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds thanks so much! Odd timing... My rear brakes just failed today, need to get on it. Your video is endlessly useful. Thank you
Brilliant work, I'm looking for this doing to my bike but I'm in leeds can you recommend anyone up this way please
Need a video on your watch collection!!!!!
Haha we leave it up to the keen eyes to notice⚙️
Love your channel. I haven’t seen you use a derailleur hanger alignment tool. Is that something you do visually, and if so do you find visual is enough for 11 and 12 speeds with finer derailleur travel between shifts?
I thought you’d forgotten us 😅
Haha we just couldn’t manage to get the one week turn around this week⚙️🧡
What size cone spanner do you need for these bikes?
Great videos as always 👌🏻
Can u show how the handlebar spacers go in which order ad ive replaced my old ones and don't remember what order they went in
U guys slacking, bit late this week?😂😂
These videos are a massive turnaround each week! Not slacking but simply not having enough time! Enjoy the content 🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds that's us saying we miss you already!
@@Bikespeeds i thought it’s Wednesday today. I got trolled 😅
Silly question... I have this bike and my chain snapped. Do you know what chain I need to buy for it. It seems not all chains are the same. Thanks
Question please.... front wheel hub on these Carrera's.... 1/4" bearings on a 9mm Axle and cones. Mine had worn badly, but new 9mm through axles seem to come for 3/16" bearings. Can you get 9mm QR axles which are ok for 1/4" bearings? I've had to resurface and re-case harden. :(
Would of loved if this was a how to of all this. Just got my son's vengeance in sorry state and want to clean it up and get running well and safe again. Videos too fast to get the knowledge from it. Was like a before and after video. I'm gonna check out your other videos also to try get the info on how to refurb the bike a bit. Thanks
Liked n subbed
Nice video❤ is there anything about vengeance e-spec? Mine Covered +2200miles and I'd love to do same considering all electric crap there too
Any tips as I have a hellcat 29inch with stick tyres 29x2.0 and I can’t find good replacement
Hi what are Carreras for off road riding are strong another
nice job bike looks great.....but it's not a good idea to grease the tapered crank (or any other tapered joint) as it allows the two parts to slide too far into each other making removal extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to take apart ....pre-BMW Mini flywheels are a case in point
Taper on taper will only slide so far. The bolt torque is the cryptical influence and extraction technique / tool will determine removal process. I’ve never had a problem removing either pre-greased or Dry pedal arms but can categorically say from the thousands I’ve done, you can always tell the difference between the two when it comes to ease of removal for routine servicing. Thanks for watching 👍🏻🧡⚙️
How much would a service like that cost ?
This makes me sad that I dont live in England
A day late! I was worried sick!
Haha we’re still here, just had a busy week🧡⚙️
roughly how much should a service like this cost?
Just turning grime and filth into positive patina😅🎉
I have exactly this bike ! I've upgraded forks to air and breaks to hydraulic. Are the wheel bearings hard to do as i think they could do with replacing
They’re hard if you don’t know how easy if you do so that’s more a question of how confident you are but they’re not complicated for wheel bearings so they’re doable 🧡
@Bikespeeds is always fun to have a go ! Least I'll be learning something 😂
@Bikespeeds so today I did the deed and swapped out the bearings ! It's not too hard, but one question ! on the carrera, how are you meant to nip up the cone nut to the lock nut ?? The cone nut has the rubber dust cap and you can't access it with the spanner ! Think I need to slacken them off a touch, but are there any tricks with the lack of access to the cone nut .
How much is one of these services cost?
What's that little brush you're using?
Genuinely curious, is that front derailleur safe to use? It looks like it's missing a bit...
its riveted.
It’s not ideal but it works 🧡⚙️
Isnt the fork bent?
Looks a bit like it is, hard to tell not in person. Could've taken a front impact
No issues with assembly for me ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
That all was worth more then a bike actually
85th veiw
👏👏👏👏👍🇧🇷.
Suspension ye blert
10.08 looks like this isn't the right chain for this bike
You could be right. It definitely sits weird on that sprocket.
Some people just don't look after there bike/bikes
Typo on the thumbnail!
Good spot thanks!
cowboy didn't service the hub's or the forks imagine buying that bike and thinking forks are bad will get a used set of rockshox and the headset is seized
That’s a death trap.. obviously not ridden at all.
He even loves the ugly ones?
