Thanks for the gentle strengthening exercises for the muscles supporting the knees. I have been rather too enthusiastic in getting back into exercising, and my knees are not happy campers. I tend to get ahead of myself and do too much too soon. This time, I will follow April’s advice and build up (slowly) to 2 or 3 sets at a time, and also build up to 2 or 3 days per week.

I have been looking for these sort of exercises for a long time. I have tried different ones and all ive done is more damage to myself. Your exercises are just wonderful and im doing them everyday. I have a really bad spine, hips and knees. I was looking after my husband for many years of lifting him causing the damage to myself. Thank you for posting these, im 71 and being locked down because of covid for so long and living on my own this is just what I needed.

This is a workout I plan to do every other day. I did this yesterday and my knees felt amazing today. I followed it with your 6 minute cool down with a good stretch. I have exercised with you two for the past 10 days straight. I feel like you are in the room with me. ❤

very nice.. going to PT twice a week.. chemo and radiation has done a number on me.. I am 65 and was very active.. I did not realize how stiff my leg muscles are still.. I can not lift my legs very far side ways.. I do stretching's several times a day.. Because these are slow pace I can do them.. the neck roll one.. will really help me with driving .. turning back.. slow and steady. And some are just what my PT has me do.. fun doing with you two.. not alone. and great guidance!

Continuing to feel all better and back to myself this morning but had already planned in advance on trying this "new to me" workout which featured "gentle" in the title. It _was_ gentle, but I could also definitely feel my muscles being activated (and hopefully strengthened) in each exercise. There are several lower body workouts that I tend to rotate between on a regular basis, and I'm happy to add this one to the mix going forward. I really loved the stretches too and may come back to use them as part of a cooldown even after doing other workouts! I followed up with some cardio and another cooldown too

I'm only 16 but my knees are very weak, I had two surgeries on my left one since it would dislocate all the time, thankfully the other one doesn't, but I'm still afraid of that happening, so I try my best to exercise as much as I can to prevent this. I just had the second surgery a week ago and I'm trying my best to go back to school as fast as I can, this video really helps, thank you! ❤️😘

Yes, Mochi is a fastidious cat! His hair is thick and long so it requires a lot of work! Usually after cleaning he is pooped and goes to sleep! We think cleaning himself is enough exercise for the day! ❤️

Just found your channel. Love this workout for my arthritic knees. Your mom is adorable. And the cat! The only one I can't do is sitting and straightening lower leg. Especially my left leg. I think I tore some ligaments or tendons at some point.

Hi there! You can sit back in the chair so that the back of your knee is at or near the edge of hte chair. Keep up the great work! We love to help you get stronger!
We applaud you for focusing on getting stronger! Generally, we recommend resting at least a day between strength training sessions for a certain muscle or muscle group. But this workout can be done everyday or a few days a week to maintain mobility. It's most important to listen to your body. If your muscle feels sore, rest until the soreness subsides before working it out again. During those rest periods, you can stretch or do light to moderate cardio workouts. Twice a week is a great start with at least a day of rest in between sessions. Listen to your body and do what feels right. Add another day when you feel up for it. So proud of you for moving with us for 2 months! Keep up the excellent work!

Happy you like the workouts but sorry about the cramp from the heel to butt move! Cramps are not fun. Some simple prep may help! To prevent cramps in your quads during hamstring butt kicks, start with a gentle warm-up and add some light stretching for both your quads and hamstrings. Make sure to stay hydrated, as dehydration can cause cramping. You might also benefit from slowing down the movement or trying a modified version, like gentle knee lifts, to help your muscles adjust. I used your videos so I could do some kind of exercise because I couldn’t do my walks anymore and I couldn’t dance. Now I’m healing after surgery and slowly getting my balance and endurance back. This is a workout I plan to do every other day. I did this yesterday and my knees felt amazing today. I followed it with your 6 minute cool down with a good stretch. I have exercised with you two for the past 10 days straight. I feel like you are in the room with me. ❤

I just did your gentle knee workout and was wondering if you could do a similar one for the hips. This workout addressed the hips as well as the knees, but I would appreciate pne that is hip focussed. Thanks!

very nice.. going to PT twice a week.. chemo and radiation has done a number on me.. I am 65 and was very active.. I did not realize how stiff my leg muscles are still.. I can not lift my legs very far side ways.. I do stretching's several times a day.. Because these are slow pace I can do them.. the neck roll one.. will really help me with driving .. turning back.. slow and steady. And some are just what my PT has me do.. fun doing with you two.. not alone. and great guidance!

Continuing to feel all better and back to myself this morning but had already planned in advance on trying this "new to me" workout which featured "gentle" in the title. It _was_ gentle, but I could also definitely feel my muscles being activated (and hopefully strengthened) in each exercise. There are several lower body workouts that I tend to rotate between on a regular basis, and I'm happy to add this one to the mix going forward. I really loved the stretches too and may come back to use them as part of a cooldown even after doing other workouts! I followed up with some cardio and another cooldown too

I'm only 16 but my knees are very weak, I had two surgeries on my left one since it would dislocate all the time, thankfully the other one doesn't, but I'm still afraid of that happening, so I try my best to exercise as much as I can to prevent this. I just had the second surgery a week ago and I'm trying my best to go back to school as fast as I can, this video really helps, thank you! ❤️😘

Yes, Mochi is a fastidious cat! His hair is thick and long so it requires a lot of work! Usually after cleaning he is pooped and goes to sleep! We think cleaning himself is enough exercise for the day! ❤️

Great work out I hve had tenernis I can’t spell it in my knee way back when for three years I did pyhical therpy and it helped but I still like to do excise’s fir it and this one is excellent 👍👍thk you and your mom and cat 🐱❤️

The only one I can't do is sitting and straightening lower leg. Especially my left leg. I think I tore some ligaments or tendons at some point.

Great workouts! They stretch my muscles well without overtiring me. I love that your cat makes cameo appearances, as well! My cat sometimes joins me also...she tried to get on my lap during a sitting exercise, lol!

We applaud you for focusing on getting stronger! Generally, we recommend resting at least a day between strength training sessions for a certain muscle or muscle group. But this workout can be done everyday or a few days a week to maintain mobility. It's most important to listen to your body. If your muscle feels sore, rest until the soreness subsides before working it out again. During those rest periods, you can stretch or do light to moderate cardio workouts. I’ve been working out with you both for two months, and this is the first knee workout of yours that I’ve tried. How many days per week would you recommend doing this routine. I am trying to strengthen my muscles around my knees, which have weakened since the pandemic. Is twice a week good to start, or maybe three times per week? Thanks April!
Twice a week is a great start with at least a day of rest in between sessions. Listen to your body and do what feels right. Add another day when you feel up for it. So proud of you for moving with us for 2 months! Keep up the excellent work!

When I kick my heal back to my butt, I feel a cramp in the back of my thigh. What do you suggest? Love your exercise videos. Thank you.
Happy you like the workouts but sorry about the cramp from the heel to butt move! Cramps are not fun. Some simple prep may help! To prevent cramps in your quads during hamstring butt kicks, start with a gentle warm-up and add some light stretching for both your quads and hamstrings. Make sure to stay hydrated, as dehydration can cause cramping. You might also benefit from slowing down the movement or trying a modified version, like gentle knee lifts, to help your muscles adjust.
