This was 100% the best step by step explanation for lighting I've ever seen. And I've watched hundreds or tips and tricks tutorials for lighting. Most of them are filled with examples of different lighting and leave it up to you to figure out the best ones to use. But for a beginner it is a lot harder to learn from a very broad list when you have limited supplies. Even tho you guys have more expensive equipment, it's easier to find cheap alternatives for specific lights then trying out lots of other ways and having it not work together.
This channel has really stepped up there game when it comes to quick comprehensive tutorials that get to the point. Thanks guys!
I missed this type of video in this chanel
jesus christ it IS jason bourne
jesus christ it IS MeLikeBigBoom
(To those mainly looking for a Free Video Editing Software) I use BlackMagic Design's Da Vinci Resolve 12.5 Its Free. Theres a Professional Version with the same name with the extra title of "Studio". Da Vinci Resolve works well with Pr users, they have Final Cut, Vegas presets too so it should be familiar for anyone moving over :) ( I also use Fusion 8 from BlackMagicDesign kinda like Ae
Nice!
Have u got ur own film bro? Can i see it?
Loved the video!
TrueMOBSTER hi mobster love your vids.
Awesome video! I always love seeing the really specific stuff on how you get your videos to look so good. I might just apply a lot of the stuff I've learned from these videos to my own amateur video projects, and I hope to see more in the future!
4:25 Please, always use the second method mentioned here, and let the videoplayer create the "cinematic" bars. Unless you purposefully wanna piss off the ultrawide master race.
fluff0 True, but the big problem is that YT doesn't allow end cards on 21:9/ultrawide yet, so we're forced to use old school click annotations.
HAHAHAHA YES
RUclipss does accept 21:9 aspect ratio. It will have black bars in windowed mode but in fullscreen it fills the ultrawide.
SirMightyPlays he’s saying that in 21:9 they can’t use end cards like links to other videos and the subscribe button
Great Video! Sorry for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Peyilyan Especial Principle (do a search on google)? It is an awesome exclusive product for learning how to create unlimited videos minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my old buddy Taylor at last got excellent results with it.
This is so insightful and awesome. I love when you guys get to really show how great you are at filmmaking. It's also so educational.
'I actually don't care that much about continuity' was that a sneaky jab at the people behind the Bourne films?
Torquebrown hahahaha I see what you did there
Highway Knobbery and a good
It would be cool if you guys had a dedicated day/channel where you uploaded these style of videos, just my opinion.
hmsdion people need to thumb this up.
I feel like theres not any need for even more channels
Not so much a channel, but a day was more what I was refering to. They used to have a filmschool before FreddieW left, which was okay, honestly though Neko's way of explaining things is a lot easier to follow and hes a more personable teacher of the subjects they cover.
They unfortunately only do this kind of tutorial stuff for their Patreons. I mean I get it, they need reward tiers.. But still. So don't expect it to be a regular thing.
They do tutorials using their patreon for the $20 tier
I like all the video types you guys post on this channel (shooting to fooling around and everything in between). But definitely never, ever lose these tech vids. A must have for the channel, Cheers boys!
As a college student in a media program, I really appreciate these tutorials! We actually covered three-point lighting in my last film production class so I understood what you were talking about with the edge and key lights. Thanks a bunch, guys!
These kinds of video's are truly awesome, got to learn a lot of new stuff! Thankyou so much !
Lots of help! Thank you guys!
Love this kind of content. You guys nailed this.
Loved the video! Great info Niko
this does that there really is so much more to filming than just point and shoot. great job guys
Yay, back to vids explaining film making!
I absolutely LOVE these tutorials!
Super great tutorial. Full of information but very concise. Loved it.
This was great! Loved the video, very Jason-Bourney indeed. Also loving these informative behind the scenes, can't wait to see more.
You guys makes this looks so easy, and oh my god, how have you grown! Giving us tips and tricks like the lights placement, it's so important but so overlooked! I learned a lot! Thanks Niko and Corridor Digital! :)
i would love to see more tutorial videos like this from niko on your channel nice job nico
best video you guys recently made! I'd love to see more of this!
Cooooool video! Hope to see more content like this.
I would love y'all to do a series of this.
This was a SUPER helpful breakdown. Thank you guys so much, please do more of these! I love seeing lighting setups broken-down. That's an area I still struggle with, so any advice is greatly appreciated!
Awesome video guys. Thank you
thanks really enjoyed watching the whole process
Thank you for sharing this video!!
Can we please have an action short staring Nick? He did a pretty good intense hitman face.
Also, I like how when Niko was at the computer, there was still the blue edge light :)
I love this! Please do more if you can!
This was awesome, thanks for sharing the knowledge Niko!
wow man...made my life..
Nice one Subscribed...Keep'em comin....
Great video, you should definitely make this a series, where you give tutorials on how to achieve the looks of certain films and directors.
Amazing. Looking forward to more vids like these.
More of these types of videos. Loved it. Do it for different movies with distinct styles/color grading. Gladiator comes to mind.
Awesome Video. Thank You for talking fast. You gave a Terrific amount of important information, jam packed into 6min 23sec. Much Appreciated. Keep up the Excellent work.
Really love this kind of video. More would be awesome!
Thanks so much. I've been wondering how to make videos look like Hollywood style and you guys gave the answer but I'm pretty sure there's so much more to this. Hope to see more content like this, great job :)
Really truly appreciate this little tutorial, been watching you guys for a couple years (updating/new accounts and such) and really enjoy that you are teaching the ways of the trade. I would really enjoy some more of these tutorials, I'm not going to say in which aspect/field, just wanna learn what your going to do next.
i'm liking the recent ratio of tutorial/bts vids to vlogs, and thoroughly enjoying both! keep up the good work, guys
I think you can get M31 for free. They offer it as a freebie.
www.colorgradingcentral.com/osiris/ yep it's right here
Thanks for the information, great video.
This was awesome and very informative, thanks guys! Definitely do more vids like this.

it's amazing how you stick to your own lighting tutorial while colorgrading
Really liked this walkthrough. Would of liked to see a lil more of the actual bts of the filming though. Great job guys.

SO much information in one video
GREAT tips. Will apply these in my next video man!
Love these types of videos :)
like the way u do your work!
yes please make more tutorials like this one!
this was really helpful and interesting :)
Sweet!! Thanks for the great tutorial, guys!! :D
More of these please!
This really helped, especially as I'm a media student and I'm supposed to be shooting a trailer today!
LUT overlook helped a lot thanks!
Awesome Guys! I wish I had this type of place like you have to do some crazy Stuff!!
I absolutely love this channel. Funny Informative and entertaining.
loved this. You really made the tutorial intresting. Dont know how, but you did somthing extra.
love how each video there is something to learn from :)
Would love to see more tutorials!
First I want to say, great video! Thanks for the editing, lighting and filming tips but I want to ask..
What camera did you guys use to film? Could you guys recommend a good camera or perhaps make a video about it? Not those DSLR cameras but those cinematic EOS cameras with adjustable aperture and shooting with low saturation(forgot the term for it) because with DSLRs, I feel like our options are limited when filming something. Thanks
More tutorials like this would be awesome!
Really nice video!
its crazy how far you guys have come. and jake is just an actor with a law degree now. :D
You guys have done some pretty epic stuff. I think it would be awesome if you guys could get together with Film Riot and make a short film. If you ever get a chance to. Please take it.
Yeah that'd be great!!
Love that M31 Lut!
Thanks was very helpful :)
Wow, humble channel beginnings ❤️
Wow, this video was great!!
I will probably never shoot or direct a short film, but in my opinion, I can never learn too much about something even if I may never use it... especially if it's so much fun learning things from you guys!
One of the most interesting videos I've watched really loved it
I feel like that scene you shot of Nick sneaking where you told us about how the lens helps with composition would've been a good opportunity to explain lateral movement as well, since the context of the scene is what it's trying to indicate
This is SO COOL!!
Thank you for this short tip on Cinematography it is much appreciated :)
Thanks for making videos like this. It makes me think of you guys as a channel about making videos by making videos that are about videography itself. But doing all of that in a simple user friendly way that doesn't expect all your viewers to be professional producers. All the while still giving detail and not counting us as purely unlearnable doofuses. Thanks CorriDidge!
Man, best 6 minutes action film school ever. People, what else do you need to go out and create something? :)
great video!
U R OUTSTANDING N THNX FOR THE AWSOME INFO PROVIDED TO US WHO R TRYING TO BECOME A FILMMAKER SOMEDAY 😊😊GOD BLESS 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love these videos, the tutorials and BTS are actually really fun to watch. Please keep making them
how do you maintain focus well when someone moves in a frame at a really open aperture?
+FDXvids lots of practice.
FDXvids Or you get a focus puller to do it for you. But, if you're not using cinema lenses or you don't have the means for the focus puller to check the focus, pulling yourself is the best option.
Niko you went over so much! You Ruke!!
I like it when the Tutorial / Tips / Guide Video is separated from Vlog.
it's a bit easier to share.
My gosh! Nick looks cool here. I've never screenshot so much in my life 😍
Seems like it's been a while since the last tutorial. Keep em comin
Would love more tutorials guys.
This was great
But how is he such a damn good cook!?
i love this channel D;
