The difference with Volkswagen and Volvo and others is doing vs and other ev's like tesla, they are built with a sense of history behind them. The instrument cluster, glove box, trunk and seating can all accommodate what average people already understand as they dive into the life of an EV. This is a good thing.
I own ID.3 Pro Performance. My main issue (apart from laggy infotainment and general software issues) is that it doesn't have air vents for rear seats.This makes air conditioning problematic in warmer environments like we have in Greece. ID.4 has rear seats air vents under the arm rests of the front seats. ID.3 should have that too.
@@Darx97 I'd call it dieselgate effect: the first ID cars are made so cheap... the interior made me regret my Golf.
i don't think this is a shortcoming of the car; rather, it is among VWs incentives to step up a class to the ID.4 - this is quite common
@@Darx97 well they are designed by different design teams. Idk if VW management really would go to the Skoda Designers and tell them "build an uglier car"
@@peterschimmell3557 ID.4 is 460cm long, it is stupid to cut rear seat air vents to force people doing a "step up". And as other said, VW Golf has rear seat air vents - ID.3 is supposed to be the Golf EV. If I wanted a 460cm long EV car I would buy Tesla, not VW.
15:50 Model 3 is not a SMALL family car. It's half a meter longer than ID.3.
Model 3 is much smaller from silhouette that length difference is only from longer front. These is net site about car size but can't share link.
@@mr.wizeguy8995 Silhouette won't help you fitting it in a garage or a small european city parking spot, though. :) Tesla doesn't have anything to compete with ID.3 in terms of size.
@@unextro Yeah they don't. Dunno how Model 2 will do where it will hit by size. VW is also bringing ID.2 and something similar size from Skoda aswell and if not mistaken both those will be around 25k €.
Had it for a photoshoot...all nice except the UI Software and lag compared to Tesla or other EVs
Interior space is excellent for its size, rear seat space is more similar to my Ford Mondeo, a much bigger car. I could live with this for a family of four, previous Golfs would have been too small. Is this bigger than the previous gen ID3? Also, the downside of a babyseat in the front is driver distraction (I was rear-ended once by a mother in an SUV dealing with their kid in the passenger seat), but it is useful if you have more than 2 kids in car seats, or even boosters. I don't know if boosters now have iso-fix or not (ours did not), but both our previous baby and toddler seats had them. My daughter was small, and used a booster up until 10 years old to fit the seatbelts properly.
It's the same size as the pre-facelift. VW has emphasized the rear interior space of the ID.3 is similar to a Passat.

Again the touch screen is horrible!! Very laggy and I hate the drag down and slide interfaces. Slow animations are soo bad for safety.

@@jellyd4889 the non-lit temperature adjustments suck so bad. I hate them in my car.
They were such a non-issue that they made them lit up on the id7 🤡

for a press car very low trim, despite of the matrix LED, glassroof, rims and paint is all standard at least in Germany
in Germany a VW press car would be fully loaded and then for around 55.000 Euro
It's really suprprising they haven't overhauled the interior on the 'facelift'. The haptic touch buttons and overall UI is absolutely horrendous in these cars. I came very close to buying one in 2022, but literally 90 seconds into the test drive I was done. Absolutely horrific to use and a shitty move by a company that used to make such decent quality, logical interiors.
Bjørn, why are you separating seat and the frame? It should fit easily this way (at least golf fits without removing wheels).

VW had decent interior materials before whole ID family of cars came out. And now comparing this cheap plastic in ID3 to Korean or Chinese cars is almost like day and night.
Confirmed, you simply can't go from an e-Golf to an ID.3 because it's downright disgusting inside and the facelift hasn't changed that. The designers should be fired for the shiny plastic on the door handles.

The best part: Not so many small motors that can start malfunction.
Really amazed they have not addressed the quality issue. The first ID3/4 was really cheap and nasty inside, this is certainly no better. The reason VW have compounds full of these cars is the software which after nearly 3 years they still have not sorted out and the quality of materials used in this range of cars. The cars are simply overpriced for what you are getting. Simply check out the Skoda & Audi equivalents which are built on same platform but are vastly better vehicles materials wise.
That gear shifter is just as dangerous as in i3. In 3.5 years I didn't get used to it, so many times I accidently put wrong direction on. It may be "more logical", but it works the opposite way than in most other cars.
Also waiting for single pedal mode in VAG cars.

VW is trouble? They sold 400k less EV's last year, 7 million car more than Tesla total. I bet cap will start become more narrow when new models come from VAG.

I had a ID3 Max First edition, VW had the shittiest customer service I have ever met. Listen to this, I had to PAY 120 euros for a loner car when my brand new ID3 had factory defects which needed to be fixed. I sold the car after that.
I will never buy a VW car again.
I thought this car was going to be a big hit but it just doesn't seem to have sold. Could be a combination of bland looks and poor dashboard?
And expensive too in the EU. It has to compete against cars like a M3 SR, MG4, Kona, Niro and many more...Most of them are as capable or even better at a lower price.
MEB Software 🤦♂️, a 2 year old ID is already legacy and left behind. And then to mention that you have a Tesla for the same money.
Model 3 is has too less interior space for the size and model y is more expensive and doesn’t look good. ID 3 may not be perfect but the available space was very well used
@@binflydushy Also Tesla has no ventilated seats, has rough suspension, no blind spot indicators in mirrors, no parking sensor, rain sensor, no HUD, lamp above back seat, poorer interior quality, and more...
Tesla 3 have less space and seats are shit, compare to ID3.

Facelift and disgusting shiny black plastics in the most used places, which are immediately (as can be seen in the video) destroyed and dirty. They just don't learn. The main thing is that they look good in the product photos. Oh no. Shame. 😶🌫🙄

It was horrible experience,when I was first time sitting in ID3, poor quality materials and horrible haptic feedback controls and laggy userface.
