I have an "old" ID.3 and to be honest, almost none of the things all "journalists and youtubers" are complaining about really bothers me in real life...their main complaint: the dashboard is made of cheap plastic...I drive my car daily, I never touch my dashboard, who the hell touches their dashboard? Nothing rattles, the armrests are sturdy, not a real-life problem. A real issue, the piano black stuff leaves fingerprints and shows dust-particles, VW should give more options for dashboard trim. Another one of their complaints in 2023, the software isn't any good. Go to the dealer, get an update. The 3.2 works perfectly fine. A real issue is that android auto sometimes takes a while to load, but I start to question my phone (Samsung A54) rather than the car's software lately. A real world issue to me were the original EV-friendly tyres, they gave very bad grip especially in wet conditions. Changed them to Michelin Crossclimate 2, problem solved. I drove many other EV's before deciding which one to go for. The Polestar 2 has far worst interior quality imho and feels claustrophobic, don't even get me started on the 15 menus you need to go trough if you want to change anything simple like the radio, temp, regenerative braking....things the ID.3 brings on with one click on a button. Also I like my steering wheel to be low and outwards and I wasn't able to see the speed I was going in the Polestar 2. The D/B function on the ID-cars in real life is super practical and the way VW-software is subtle in helping you is amazing, even if cruise control is not activated. The super short turning circle, another feature that goes too unappreciated. You don't know you miss it, until you drove an ID.3. The fact that you just get in and can drive is also very practical, although I would appreciate it if VW would match my key to my user in a future software update. The Renault Mégane, a car with similar performance, but feels more SUV than car. Visibility in that car is so bad, they even had to install an electric rearview mirror to cope with their bad design. Also doesn't have much storage room compared to the ID.3. Talking about design, that's the main reason I didn't even consider the Tesla 3 (old version) with it's frog eyes and useless trunkdesign. The interior looks nice, but I missed the essential information to be right in front of me. The older model was also backbreaking hard to drive. Haven't got around to drive the new one. Never mind anything from China, they base all their designs on stuff they find on the fishmarket. I liked the Ionic 5's design, but if feels sluggish to drive. The Ionic 6 looks like a beached-up orca, I can't believe people who bought it were actually sober when they did. Must all be real "Free Willy" fans or something. The ID.3 isn't flawless, far from it, but at least VW designers took their time to think things true and made use of the newly found freedom in available space and listened to the needs of normal, every day drivers.

Interesting - I've just done a review of the old version on my channel. Does the new car still have only 2 electric window switches for the driver? With a 'rear' button so the driver can work the rear windows with the same switches? I found that very difficult to use while driving. Also - in driver mode 'B' does it actually come to a complete standstill now? Many thanks

Yes, still obly two switches for the power windows. No change to that ..

"old" ID3 charge speed is 130kw after the 2.4 software update. I have the 58kw Pro Performance 1st Edition and got 3.2 software (it now shows car location, windows/doors open or not, lights on or off etc in the phone app).
Also, I always had the Aircare function, yet you say your car didn't have it, a bit surprised.
Also, I have all games you talk about. Probably 3.2 update got them, not sure

Hej! 👋 I'm driving an ID.3 as a company car, Pro S, pre facelift and a Volvo C40 Twin Ultimate as a personal car (for the context ^^) The big down side of the VW is clearly the inside ergonomics. This car is horrible on this side. I mean, the haptic buttons, the way they put everything together, the slides at the bottom of the screen not backlit, I don't get it. Don't get me wrong, the ID.3 is not a bad car, not at all, but when you drive it, at some point, you are wondering "what were they thinking ??", it's like, they put everything together without driving / using it in real life.
On the other side, the strong point of the ID.3 (compared to my C40) , is the HUD and the AR driving system, as for the ID light in the front. I love it, it's really super practical and well integrated. I wish for my C40 to have an HUD, it's really missing. And also, the climate functions are way better in the ID.3, as you can chose where to focus on.
But, if it was not a company car, I would have never buy an ID as a private car. The value for money ratio is not well balanced at the moment (but I think VW is trying now to settle down a bit, to have a better price range if I'm not mistaken)
I got the fact that VW tried some new things and approach with the ID lineup, and I hope they will finally find their way. Some manufacturers think that, because it's EV, everything should be totally revamp in the car, from the ergonomics to the line up. But in the end, we don't want to drive spaceships, just regular EV cars. This is no reason not to be innovative, just; dial it down sometimes; especially when it comes to ergonomics 😅

I agree with your points about the id3 on top of that my biggest concern is that I'm stuck on old Bob working software. 😔
I'm trying to get hold of the upcoming id7 and think and hope that they have learnt a lot from the previous models and that the id7 is kind of a 2.0 implementation.

@@ItsOnlyElectric Have seen already some reviews of the ID.7 yesterday (official release it seems), looks like some snags are still here (like the fugging haptic buttons on the wheel), but the software seems to have been improved
My C40 runs under google automotive and it’s great. I wish I had a bigger infotainment screen tho

@SeeliFlorea most of the parts seems to be better on the id7, but some still left behind.
The small screen is one of my biggest downsides on the c40, at least 12" would do.
