@@BlakeWengdalPhotographer yeah no shit, most bands play to a click, be it only the drummer or the entire band. And to get that studio sound they had some backing tracks as well, at least for the vocals. Nothing wrong with that
It’s because they intentionally did it, trying to emulate something like deftones… i wish with all my heart i could somehow get this album in my hands without the fucking vocal effect cos this is truly incredible without it and it slaps so hard live
Originally they were a djent - metalcore band. I love how they managed to pull such a change in their style but still having those low riffs and heavyness here and there.
I don't think they're underrated because everyone who listens to em, falls in love with them. I just think they're not very well known. They'll get there....hopefully
@@user-ou3pj9yj9t I don't think so. They said it's exactly how they wanted it and I'd say masters would have been sent for vinyl production a while ago to work out the release date. That's just my take - I could be wrong of course.
They went for a stylistically different approach. I think they were going for a distorted/dreamlike vocal mix, akin to what you would hear in a lot of shoegaze rock and metal (aka Deftones Loathe, etc.). Personally I enjoy it and don't see a problem in the vocals being slightly less front and center in the mix when the instruments are melodic and layered really well like this.
Those screams are inhale screams and those tend to ruin your voice and are in this case not clear at all, like you cant tell what hes screaming. I truly hope he learns how to properly scream one day because that would fit the band very well.
Man we heard that classic rock n roll catchiness in Dark Pool with a lil bit of metal darkness to it. Here they seem to have really really embraced that feel even more.
Yeah no shit. Never had a problem with their new sound, it’s just the mixing where you can’t hear Jacobs vocals at all.. I really like it it but wish I could make out the lyrics coz it’s sounds muffled. Still love Thornhill!
The new songs are pretty killer. Good stuff so far. Love the old stuff but the new stuff is also really good. I'm glad they're not resting on their laurels.
I said it before and I say again. Australia has the best Rock/Metal scene on the whole planet. They have so many top tier bands. It's not even funny 🤔😂

These Australian bands are in another class musically. -US fan
Amen.
Thank you for all the amazing and inspirational bands your country has come out with also - Aus. fan 🤟
Light years ahead of us!
Agreed! Australia musically, is ahead of the game! COG, Karnivool, etc…

I genuinely think it's better than the recorded song. So good
Absolutely what I was thinking! Probably because it's just the band minus most of the studio tricks.
@@brendonlake1522 And it also had what I expected in the studio version the first time I heard it: a scream to close the song with the breakdown
You can actually hear jacob in this version
Its the removal of those muddy vocal effects
I agree the live version is way better I can hear Jacob's vocal's clearly.
2:43 and 2:50, that 1/2 note break, bringing a COMPLETELY different groove to the song. UNREAL
im so glad someone else said this. 2:50 is unreal.

Australia are producing some of the best bands At the Moment , great to see!!
Ultimate version of Muse for me, much love!
much more muse than muse can be today sadly xD
Wish MUSE went with this direction instead of more pop sounding. They haven't been good since 2012. At least we still have Showbiz - The Resistance
Love how the singer is styled a bit like Layne Stayley. He's got the vibes!
The recording, mixing and mastering team of these videos needs a raise.
