To anyone who sees this....and isn't an Aurora fan or only barely knows of her.
    After watching this...
Look up and watch her live at Nidarosdomen concert. The entire thing is here on YT.
Trust me....if that doesn't touch the core of your soul and blow your mind....I don't know how to help you. 4 years ago in early 2020, I'd never heard of Aurora, and randomly played that concert. One hour later...after picking my jaw off the floor, I was instantly a massive fan and could tell it would be a lifelong thing. She's a once in a generation writer and performer and vocalist. AND...if that weren't enough, she's basically the coolest kindest human ever.

Massive Attack's album Mezzanine - with Teardrop front and center - was essentially my musical awakening back in '98. I was about 14 and the impact is still living. AURORA just made me hear this song as if it was my first time hearing it back then. But different. I don't think I am able to express clearly what her rendition is doing to me. I just can't fathom this cover has dodged my attention for 6 years.

@@TheGunnCatI guess a lot of people are listening to pick out the best Like a Version covers for Hottest 100. But I feel like it's pretty normal to not want to her another person take on a track that you love, or a musician that you love. Music holds so much emotional power, and hearing a song adopted and reframed by someone can be jarring. Occasionally it feels almost blasphemous if done "wrong."
It's akin to someone copying an amazing painting by and artist who has put years of heartfelt work into creating a masterpiece, and using shoddy technique, dodgy materials and poor colour choice. It's then just a poor copy that holds no meaning. All creative work should be treated with respect when reproduced.

I believe one of the lads said the same thing this morning but I always feel incredibly honoured when international artists chose to sing their songs in English when it is often not their first language. Especially when they have voices like Aurora's which is so pure and ethereal. So beautiful.

Sophie HM I believe well over 50% of our artists sing in english (even american singers have songwriters who don't have english as their first language), and it can feel weird when artists sing in our own language. You become too critical, it's too naked, english becomes like a protection. It's funny that many second generation immigrants are the ones that seem to use our language most in music, even if it is together with their slang.

It's so smooth in her high notes but has a lot of texture in her alto range. It's not a bad thing at all, it makes her interesting and when she breaks into the higher notes, has a surprising effect. Very cool.

Few songs have impacted my life as much as Teardrop did when I heard it first over the speakers at Café Paris in downtown Reykjavík. I fell so instantly in love with it that I had the waitress write the name down on a piece of paper so I could run home and incorporate it into my life, wholly... In a way that had me sitting up, countless nights, softly playing variations of it on the piano, completely lost in time and space... And now, to be introduced to Aurora, hearing her for the first time, covering this song... Feels like the whole world just shattered into uncountable fragments... and her music is somehow reassembling it piece by piece in the order it should've been to begin with... Because it now seems as if Teardrop was just a demonstrative sample of the impact music could have...

Interesting fact about the original song, Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins was recording the vocals for the song when she found out her old boyfriend Jeff Buckley had disappeared while swimming in the Mississippi river in Tennessee. His body was discovered 5 days later. She considers the song to be about him in a way.
