NAIL THE MIX is an online mixing school created by Joey Sturgis, Joel Wanasek and Eyal Levi - the guys who produced bands like TDWP, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall, Machine Head, Monuments, Miss May I, Of Mice & Men, Reflections, Born Of Osiris, Asking Alexandria and dozens more of this generation's best metal bands.
Every month, NAIL THE MIX members get exclusive access to the REAL MULTI-TRACK SESSIONS from a REAL ALBUM, and a 6-8 hour live streaming class from the producer who mixed it. These are the actual sessions by bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, Periphery, Papa Roach, Machine Head, Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember and more - and NTM is the only place in the world you'll get access to them!
my left ear thoroughly enjoyed this video
Yeah, listening to this through headphones is crap, but I find it easier to dial in a guitar tone when I listen to a single speaker.
@@suniso370 at one point i understand you :D
My work vehicle only has a working left speaker 😂
Such a pretty wild tone in terms of what you've used to get it. Fuzz pedals with an overdrive do seem to make such great tones.
Applying a fuzz treatment to octaved di mix before a preamp is a really interesting approach.
I'm liking this new trend in metal. Fuzz pedals and octavers were all over the new Beartooth album
If you don't have and or don't use "Logic". You can easily use "Waves GTR Stomp" instead of "Pedalboard". But honestly; just with "Neural" plugins, some eq and compression you can get killer tones.
finally some Thornhill
GENIUS!
Where did the video " glueing metal guitars to the mix with George lever" go?
Back in the 90s you'd get a tone like this with a £60 amp and an HM2 and you'd be gutted with it. How times have changed.
Lol to be fair, that was like, drop D not drop Z
5:24 riff would mash up with “feelin hella good” by Gwen stefani for sure
Who's a naughty tone, who
This is from Casanova mix
Heya!
What's the plugin he's using for all the pedals?
That’s the stock Logic Pro X “Pedalboard”
@@omynel any equivalents that are compatible with PC?
@@alexlevesque9687 not that I know of, but I’m a Mac user so have never looked
@@alexlevesque9687 only thing I could suggest is guitar rig
@@alexlevesque9687 BlueCat Audio has a plugin that you can blend plugins within the insert. Buster uses it on his HLB NTM if you want to look that up. Throw that in your chain and go wild. I want to say the plugin is around 80ish USD.
He actually called that guitar tone fluffy haha. I know what he meant but its not the first word that came to mind
It means not sharp and weighty.
lml
*Edit: I was wrong, the fuzz pedal was on, my most current version of Logic just has a different colour scheme for the pedal apparently!*
I find it hilarious that the video thumbnail is on using fuzz pedals in metal tones, then George proceeds to not use the fuzz pedal at all in the final tone (see 4:59 or 4:32 where the fuzz pedal is off in the original and final tones, if you look at the red light on it being off)
Either way, George is a wizard in getting amazing guitar tones and I loved learning from this video
I think he actually is using the fuzz pedal. You can see at 1.53 him turn it off and the LED light goes black. At 4.59 where you linked its definitely still red. It is worth noting that he only has the octave and fuzz on at a blend of like 20% through the mixer pedal though.
I think it's just hard to see cause it's red on red. It's on.
@@MrSomebody115 Oh weird! Ok I think it was just that when I followed along in Logic with the same pedalboard, Logic has it so that pedal’s bulb is just a slightly darker red when off now, as opposed to fully black in the video (maybe it was a recent Logic update?). But I can see what you mean at 1:53
The fact that you'd even THINK you'd be right when he's quite obviously USING IT to anyone with functioning ears is fucking insane. Should probably never call yourself an engineer and cancel all your work.
It’s a bit hard to follow when the editor doesn’t state any of the names of what he’s clicking on
Great how we see no description or what the plugins are... not sure what this and that are
Archetype nolly and the pedals are stock in Logic
How do you not know these? It literally says on screen what they are as well? What the fuck is this comment?
Pedalboard which is stock logic, Nolly for the amp and Studio Cabs Cali by DDG (this is all visible on screen)...
I'm paying for this on URM. Why is it on RUclips for free?
they only post clips of the session on youtube
