One second and I try to replay
Two seconds ain’t enough ’cause you’re my prey
Well I saw you there
Hands up in the air with your face to the floor
Well baby
I’ve seen your baby
Oh I know we’ve been here before
Yeah I know we’ve been here before
On the dance floor
All night with the dice
Cause I refuse to think twice
You’re mine
It was your knife in a lie
But I refuse till its time to die
Save me tonight
Pity drinks the spite
Open wide
Tell me where you’ve been so I can hide
Your gun
In my hands
Cause it’s you and me
Promiscuous
Keep your eyes on me
All night with the dice
Cause I refuse to think twice
You’re mine
It was your knife in a lie
But I refuse till its time to die
“You know that I don’t want to see you burn”

Don't be shy Thornhill, release the album
The groove is phenomenal and the snare tone sounds so pure
that's what hit me first during my first listening !
Snare so good
Yeah, so nice to hear a different snare in modern metal!
thank george lever
@@shanelarue8162 It was Lance Prenc who did the enginnering on the drums, but my guess is that they definitely used samples if Lever was involved, oh well, still a good song though.
Deftones out here still inspiring new sounds in bands 20 years later..
*Muse
Yeah has alot of deftones vibes.
@@LeagueMixtape both! if you can't hear the deftones influence try listen to diamond eyes. muse is all over this track as well! what a stunning way to define yourself as a new band - and we've instantly tried to compare it to other things because it's so NEW
@@ediblenebulas1164 Personally I can't stand either Muse or Deftones so that's probably why I am struggling to enjoy this new song but respect to the boys at thorny for trying something new!
@@LeagueMixtape and you are very welcome to explore your musical interests! im sure there will be something on the album that you will enjoy :) i happen to love both of those bands to death, definitely part of why i love this so much!!
"Guys, you can't looks like some boysband and play some metal music"
Thornhill : Hold my pink guitar.
The grooviness to the heaviness is amazing. It’s giving me this weird disco vibe but in a heavy rock way and I love it 😂
This album is Thornhill's White Pony... And I'm not saying that because of the obvious Deftones influence (Heroine having so much of a Deftones sound just adds a bit of irony). I say that because when Deftones released White Pony, a large portion of fans either disliked it or just didn't get it at first because it was such a radical change from their previous work. However, it all grew on us within a month to a year at most (depending on the person) and was quickly realized to be their Magnum Opus. It's still their best selling album to date. I'm seeing a similar phenomenon here with Thornhill's Heroine. It took me about a month to fully understand & appreciate the masterpiece of White Pony back in the day. Personally, with Heroine, I loved it right off the bat. Give it a chance guys. Listen to it from front to back to really get it, see them play it live, or at least watch Leo's stellar video/mix of their live set at The Foundry. Even though the beginning of one of the songs on the album sounds almost exactly like "Beauty Queen" by Deftones, they do it so well (plus, I'm pretty sure that was very intentional)...and there's a similar riff to "Climbing Up The Walls" by Radiohead lol. The album is phenomenal and brings a lot of nostalgic sounds to heavy music in a very fresh way.
This is me right now, you need a certain vibe to really get it and I’m finally in that mood
Agree 100% My friends hated White Pony except for Change. “Deftones got soft” “Around the fur is way better” but over time they grew to love the new sound. Unpopular opinion but I feel like TDP was pretty basic metalcore, Northlane was already doing that years earlier. Even though Heroine is heavily influenced by Deftones, Muse, 90’s aesthetic, they really make it sound modern and fresh. I love the album and it was really one of my most listened to all last year
@@MiguelRamirez-cr7gh i always think it's funny saying Deftones "went soft" on White Pony. I mean, have you not heard Be Quiet and Drive, Mascara and Dai The Flu on Around the Fur? It's a ⅓ of the album.
Most anticipated release of the year
Really digging the Muse influences. Can hear a bit of Karnivool in here as well.
Yeah! Karnivool is definitely there!
Karnivol is mainly the band that every Aussie band took inspiration from, northlane,… but in a better processed version
Am I crazy or is Gorillaz in there as well?
This song has grew on me so much, that chorus is to die for!
They really do be pulling all the stops to try and get Jacob a girlfriend
I know it's a running gag but I honestly wish he was gay or bi cause he is ridiculously hot in this
@@whocouldthisbe111 glad someone commented haha
@@zerozeeros my man you talking straightup facts Jacob is so fucking gorgeous in this video same with the Year of The Rat one by Void of Vision
this is a running comment, and I honestly wonder where it came from 😂
@@zerozeeros as a recently bi dude Jacob and Maneskin are the driving forces behind me wanting to wear makeup
This was pretty incredible. Old school muse, deftones and I don’t see anybody calling this out but I hear Daryl Palumbo and Glassjaw styling in there too. Especially the end of the track
They pulled together sounds from some of my favorite 90s early 2000s bands and still sounded unique and fresh. Just, wow.
Yesss.
Great comment, can hear some Glassjaw in those vocals for sure..........good call!!
listen to vexes for more deftones vibes, they are underrated for sure
Cool bro
Not that sure for Muse.
i bet atleast half the people who hated this at first loves this song now
Well those people are sad and goes to show they'll turn their back on anything and not give anything a chance
Keen for the new Thornhill era
Not quite there yet xP
Trying to tho
It's me. I'm half of people
Hi
You got me… I’m one of them…
These Men are ARTIST. They NEVER disappoint. I'm in Love and Addicted.
This is literally my favorite Thornhill song. It’s their best imho.
UNFD continues their recent streak of releasing music that makes me actually excited for the future of rock again.
Reminded me alot of Muse!
That chorus was huge 🤟
I really hear that resemblance and I’m loving it
You’re absolutely right!! HUUUGEE Muse vibes and I’m so here for it
Man I hate Muse personally. I liked Thornhill because they were Thornhill.
remember deftones
@@viniciushenrique8308 I first got Muse Vibes obviously. But half way through was like.. Oooooh I memba deftones!
Song gets better after a few listens. Love the Muse/shoegaze sounds.
You have to judge these guys on how they want to sound, rather than how fans want them to sound. I think this song is awesome, and unique.
Every time I hear this song it gets tastier and tastier
I like the live version at triple J better.
When Muse meets Australian music, I LOVE IT SO MUCH, congrats guys, can’t wait for the album 🎉
Pensé en MUSE también!!!!
Yall ever heard of deftones?
@@george2994 def what ?
MUSETONES
Meets Deftones.
Definitely very different to their previous works, nonetheless still unique and still with a very recognizable guitar tone and a dope song overall
I love thist part 2:24
@Mike Honcho maybe you have a really bad ear to guitar tones, or you've been listening to music in really shitty smartphone buds or something, cus this drooped tuning tone is indeed very characteristic to them
@@albanonabla lol i think you need to check your ears asap
@@albanonabla no offense mate, but it's true. it's quite a common guitar tone in metalcore now.
@@albanonabla i mean theres nothing unique when it comes to the tone its heavily inspired by something like loathe which they do have a unique sound and the solo is pretty similar to the stuff cane hill writes so nothing special going on to say this is something new but its not a bad track its cool
Their entire first record is absolute FIRE! I can't wait to see where these guys go in the future. My hope is that I'll get to work with them and do their media!
1:36 was insane.. wish we would’ve heard that section more throughout the song
For real. I was banging my fucking head off.
I am for sure throwing fists when I see that live.
I've been waiting for 2 years. These last hours are the hardest
wasn't worth
@@jorgesebastian1262 it was
wasn't worth a shit. It's normal, because it's impossible to do better than older works, so they went to create this awful song
@@shhsjfkf2832 seethe harder nerd. Im bopping to this so hard
Yeah I hope this Muse track isn't on the album
Don't listen to all these tryhard music critics. Elitists and generally negative people gravitate to these genres of music, so you're going to get more of it than you see elsewhere. Do what you want. Music has no boundaries, no right or wrong and you can always continue to change in the future. What you release doesn't define you.
I have to admit that this song had to grow on me by listening a few times, but then it suddenly made click and now I can't get enough of it. Thornhill is just something else!
These guys have a huge world ahead of them
I came back to say that I love this song so much. I was confused at the beginning, but after a few listenings I got it. Can't wait to hear new music from Thornhill!
That hypnotic, ambient part before the solo was nice too
Elegant Heaviness......
Can't stop listening to their tracks , hypnotising melodies ! ⚡ what an awesome band !! 🖤
welcome
There was no way they were going to top Darkpool. They needed a new sound to stop being a one trick Pony. Im here for it. LOVED IT lads.
First time I heard this I was like Hmmmmm.... But now I'm over how different it is from previous Thornhill its on repeat. Great work boys just give tracks time to grow on you!
Same
facts!
I like the live version live at triple J like a version better that's my opinion.
Jacob in the beginning sometimes reminds me of Sebastian Grainger from DFA 1979! kick ass track!
Now THATS the kind of funk we need
You're rhythm section is from another world guys
Heavy Ocean Grove vibes on this one. Not a bad thing at all, loving it.
the intro is hype as fuck, if I heard this live id lose my shit over this song
vocals give me death from above 1979 vibes
Yes 🖤✨️
My body's already quivering in anticipation of that sweet, sweet guitar tone.
Welcome back, lads.
Bold, Brave & Beautiful
Can u insert the head-thumping cat meme in the corner vibing out with Jacob!!
this song is immaculate 💯
Lily & The Moon for life
I LOVE THORNHILL
>The Dark Pool was a 10/10 masterpiece
>This song is a fantastic progression of their sound
BOTH STATEMENTS CAN BE TRUE. That is all!
I'm interested to see what they do with this sound, but this has zero echoes of The Dark Pool in my opinion. It's got downtuned guitars and Jacob in it. That's the only comparison I can make. If you had told me this was on the new Don Broco album I wouldn't have thought twice.
This is not a progression of their sound. They completely abandoned the sound the achieved on The Dark Pool. Bad choice for them in my opinion. The Dark Pool was one of the best metalcore albums in years.
@@skilledbros still sounds very thornhill to me
@@userdarkshadow3307 the groove and guitar riff style screams thornhill
Love the drums ughhhh slaps!!!!!!!!!!!!
1:36 is one of the greatest musical compositions. Simple yet undeniably effective!
The overall song is a level down from their best IMO, but that part makes this a standout amongst others. Thornhill at their worst wipes the floor with the rest!
Also, never have I seen a Bassist lead a song the way this does. That's the standout!
Hope you guys release something in this style again!
THAT SNARE 😍
Muse + Deftones + great song writing = Thornhill
listen to vexes for more deftones vibes, they are underrated
While I don't dislike this track... I personally love Thornhill for their extremely unique sound in this genre... The reason I fell in love with them was because I believe they had a style and sound that no one else really had... I can't say that I am not slightly disappointed to not hear that same familiar beautiful sound I'm used to hearing from them... All the power to them to continue to find a new sound and direction... But I don't know if this is an evolution of their sound that will keep Thornhill in my top five favorite bands moving into the future anymore.
Dude don’t be sorry about it. Yes I didn’t like the song as well. They changed the style and we don’t have to automatically like it. They are free to do whatever they like, but we are also free to have and express negative emotions about failed expectations
I feel link this is still unique but different. If you look at Nurture I was dissapointed when it came out but the album that was released after I didn't expect such a banger. I like this song and I was nicely surprised but I can understand that people don't dig in the "muse/royal blood" voice. It's still a single to sell the album to people that won't already buy it, so it's normal that it's a bit more pop as Nurture was imo.
@@salleafist2802 nurture was awesome and it was absolutely in their style. Atmospheric clean verses, a bit of screaming, nice harmonized chorus. Their cool “atmospheric metal” style. This particular song is 50% rock, not metal. And vocals are very different. If I had to choose another band to compare with, the dark pool would be Northlane but this one would be Muse. And they are very different
@@angryktulhu I listened to TDP maybe a hundred of times and honestly Nurture is really different from the rest of the album.
It is still atmospheric compare to this song ofc. I think that what I like about this song is the surprised they put on. Saying it's 50% rock is true but the other 50% are metal for sure. The bass slapping, the intro and the breakdown sounds metal. Only the chorus is rock imo.
But still don't worry guys it's still Thornhill I can't imagine an album without a single TDP like song.
@@salleafist2802 you never know... They could’ve made all the other songs sound like TDP. Or none of them. Sometimes bands do weird things. Like my fav band did with their last album (it’s not Thornhill). So let’s see. So far it’s still not known what the whole album is going to be
These guys opening for volumes would be spectacular.
the guitar tone sounds like Loathe,
*sees who mastered and mixed it: oh thats why
Getting some Ocean Grove vibes out of this
holy fuck go listen to Reptile if you want Reptile or listen to Where We Go When We Die if you want Where We Go When We Die. this song is a bold, amazing, groovy work of fuckin art. stop crying.
CRIMINALLY underrated
Thornhill never disappoints!
Its groovy for sure i know we all cling on to nostalgia but bands have to evolve and try new things, Thornhill will always have my support.
Love the song.
I r e a l l y don't like whatever processing is done on Jacobs voice.
This song doesn't let his powerful voice shine
I feel the same way about the vocals on this track
I thought they’d replaced him 😅
I agree about the vox but I actually don't like this song. Quite disappointed as I love every other song. Even on their EPs and Jacob and Matt's band Cherry.
Thornhill is a band effort don't forget
TDP also had pretty interesting mixing with a shitload of harmonies on the vocals that’s why the contrast is so huge. TDP vocals sounded THICC bcs of that
It’s like Muse and Deftons had a baby, this shit slaps hard 🔥
11/10 👏🏻 That's what I call art
I'm from Indonesia, everyday listen your music,
I don't thinks it's bad but I was hoping they would continue to do the ambient progressive metalcore stuff from The Dark Pool.
I think this is just a song from their new track that is on the lighter side and they’re setting us up for surprises when all the other shit is heavy as fuck.
@@sagelyden I hope you're right
@sage you BETTER be right 😩
Same here
I like this better actually
These guys are having too much fun. I like where this band is taking me, the new material is so much more interesting.
The drums sound insane in this track 👌🏽🔥
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Lol. I came here to say Ben is a beast but the man himself has already bloody commented.
i listened all thornhill songs in bucle, onthis week and this chorus is so fucking good
This is the most inventive track I've heard in awhile. I LOVE how out of left field this was.
my thoughts exactly i was happily surprised CONSTANTLY throughout the song
Muse vibes! 🔥 🔥
As someone who has watched many bands evolve for the better without alienating their current fan base of many years, this is how it's done. If they stuck to their previous sound they'd have plateaued. Thornhill are now without a doubt a band to keep your eyes on.
KEEP DEVELOPING GUYS, WE NEED THIS NEW BREED OF METAL YOU ARE CREATING
PLS PLS PLS MORE SONGS LIKE THIS
THIS IS MASTERPIECE
I love these boys. TDP is one of my favorite albums of all time. This is a cool track but as much as I would like to, I can’t pretend that I love it
Yeah you guys might lose some fans with the change in style, but you’ll gain a lot of new ones. Great song.
Yeah this take aged like milk. Just look at their analytics.
This sound is dope af
This song is so sick!
I hear some Northlane influences, but the full composition is so perfect. I really like this vocals, rhitm and guitar riff. So modern and stylish. Wow🤝🏻
I don't hear any Northlane influences in this lol. It just sounds like a Muse rip.
Indie core hehehe🔥
R.I.P. Thornhill
This is genius.
I respect whatever they do.Maybe after a few times i'll like it,for now it's not what i've expected.
It took me a while for this song to grow on me now omfg this song is something else ahhhh 🥰
The solo at 2:24 is so fucking dirty
THAT SNARE
Cant wait to hear this. The Dark Pool was just tremendous.
Edit: Holy fuck ok I'm very interested to see what follows this.
Muse + Deftones = Thornhill
People are getting real judgemental over a first listen and a first single, it's a grower boys, and these guys know how to put an album together. Hella excited for all of it
Same
elitist hates progress, the "if its not heavy its bad" metality
@@richard6200 it makes it funnier that it was pretty heavy. And to put in my perspective of "heavy", my most listened to album recently is Penance - Bound in Fear.
@@richard6200 elitist? What are you talking about! Thornhill has never been heavy, it’s not a deathcore band dude.
You come to McDonald’s and you order a burger there. They bring you a pizza. You’re like “hey i expected a burger”. They are like “you elitist”. Wtf are you talking about? If a band had some specific style but then changed it, ofc it may upset some fans because they had different expectations. Yes, bands are free to do literally anything and start playing pop but fans have their own point and right of being upset
Nah bro. You could say that about any song you didn’t like first or second listen. This one is an obvious deviation from the Thornhill of prior. I don’t dig it.
Now this? *THIS?* THIS *SLAPS*
I've heard OF these guys but just checked out Arkangel and this song as my intro to them and then went back a little and honestly...
I'm glad I discovered this stuff first - A uniquely melodic band with the djent/metalcore influence staying minimal, just enough to give the music and edge. Too much of the same boring thing out there rn. Looking forward to more like this!
Their last album (Dark Pools) was much better than Heroine imo.

Great song, simple and effective. But George Lever and them jusst KILLED the production and mix. My goodness, does this track sound sick
I was just wondering when we're gonna hear something new from them ❤️
Good vid✔️ good sound ✔️ rough "wuuumms"✔️ = on one of my playlists
I listened to “The Dark Pool” and “Butterfly” so many times. TDP was on repeat for months. It was all I wanted to listen to for a period in my life.
This I’ve listened for four times. The initial listen, and then three more times trying to convince myself that I liked it, or that I could learn to like it.
I just don’t know, as of right now. Respect to them for doing what they want to do musically and artistically, but that’s about all I have for this song.
“The Dark Pool” will be just like “Sundowning” by Sleep Token, in that it was so good to me, that I knew they would never be able to recapture that perfection, in my eyes, of course. Something that epic can only be created once.
Worship!
Man, i feel 100% the same way and this is also true regarding Sleep Token haha.
@@matthiasm2802 I’m glad someone else agrees. Everyone seems to love TPWBYT, and I’m just like it’s good, but Sundowning destroys this.
Man 100% agree! It's missing that Thornhill uniqueness and their previous work is for sure their best. Also, Sleeptoken's new album has got nothing on Sundowning! 😍
@@Martindupie Yeah, I don’t know. A little bummed about both, but happy that they are both doing what they want artistically. Those albums will always exist!

Just want to comment a second time to ease anyone's mind tripping out about this track. Ethan and George were live on IG this morning and Ethan confirmed this was their "weird fun track" and that the album is indeed very moody and very heavy. They were also going for more of a JT "SexyBack" vibe for this track, not Muse/Deftones.
that's interesting, the Muse vibe has come from George Lever then (mixing engineer), he made the comment that the mix direction was "muse banger" in his mix notes on nail the mix
@@jsraudio I haven't looked at the NTM session. I was surprised by that comment, but it makes sense. I am looking forward to watching him break the mix down.
thank God, the thing about this track is that vocals are foxked up in a bad way, music is great tho
@@mggm9680 really? I think the vocals are fantastic
Jesus fuck, that's a relief. I loved the moodiness and heaviness of the The Dark Pool. That's what I lived about Thornhill. Going from "Where We Go When We Die" to this was like flying into Burbank from Nepal for me. Fucking rough. If a different band made it, it would be alright. But Thornhill is where I go when my mind is full of sad and dark thoughts.
I must have clicked on the wrong thing. I was looking for Thornhill...
hmm. This is going to need a few listens before I know what to think about it.
It probably took me about 10 listens.... but this song is so good. The ambient part at 1:50 is so them. So heavy and full of riffs, and Jacob's vocal versatility is expanding. Always great hearing a guitar solo in these kinds of songs too. The chorus is constantly stuck in my head.
me 2 was stuck in my head for few days....
I like the live version at triple J like a version a whole lot better in my opinion.
Been listening to this song almost non stop since yesterday morning. It's different but still fantastic. Looking forward to more, Thornhill hits me differently than most bands 🤘
