This is a very hard time of year for me. My husband and I have been quite depressed. Couple of days ago, I chatted with a girl over an anxiety disorder video. Tried to give her some advice, and we kind of bonded. My husband told her his experiences, too, and it seemed like it helped. Crazy thing was how much better it made US feel. I hope you have someone to talk to. Stay strong!

As a nonmusician, this kinda shows me (again), that its not the electric guitar which is the most important for the sound, it is the gear which comes after the guitar (amp and other stuff).
On one hand mate, you're right on the money, but on the other hand, not so much. As a musician, there are a few differences. The sound of the guitar "clean" (non-distorted, not using pedals or other gear) is what appeals to some, especially for bass guitar, and guitar. Some styles of music prefer to have a certain 'sound' to their instruments, as do some people. The gear itself can also have the same effect, having different sounds, and while usually it's about brand names, sometimes it really does make a big difference. You can get 'good' sounds on cheap equipment, but it can be challenging.
The instrument quality is also a really big factor. A cheap instrument may not stay in tune for long, it may be made from bad quality materials (that is also another thing people sometime buy instruments for, the material they're built from can change things (i don't really think so)) and many others. Something called the 'action' is big for me, because higher quality instruments tend to have better actions, and tend to keep a good action for a long time. (the action is the distance between the fret and the string, if it's big, it requires more force to press the string to the fret, thus making it harder to play many notes in quick succession. )
All in all i think this really doesn't make much of a difference for a lot of instruments, and branding can have a lot to do with this as well.
I think both the instrument and gear can be driving factors in the sound. Overall the gear might not be that good, but the instrument might be really easy and fun to play, always be in tune, and you'd enjoy it better. But it doesn't matter if you've got the best gear in the world, if you've got a crap instrument, you're not going to enjoy it to it's fullest extent.

I was hoping for something Crack The Skye-esque. Not disappointed, though, the acoustic ringing gave this tune a refreshing touch. Nice one, Jared!
This was still cool but I was disappointed when the distortion kicked in
DontKillAnts even without the distortion, there were effects you can't get on an acoustic from the start of the song

I realize that. I didn't say I was disappointed there were effects, I was disappointed there was distortion. It kinda defeats the purpose of an acoustic.
Having the distortion made it listenable to me. I've never enjoyed the sound of an acoustic guitar. I was hoping he'd turn the distortion on since it's supposed to be "metal", after all.
But that is why it would be interesting. If he could make it metal without distortion it would be an interesting accomplishment instead of just doing electric guitar stuff on an acoustic.
