- A trip away is filled with tension as Joey and Pacey try to fight their feelings.
From Season 3 Episode 19, 'Stolen Kisses'. Dawson, Joey, Andie, Pacey and Will (a childhood friend of the gang who has remained close with Pacey) head to Dawson's aunt's house to spend their school holiday away from Capeside. The trip is filled with tension as Joey and Pacey attempt to fight their feelings. Meanwhile, back in Capeside, Jen and Henry go through a bumpy time when she is consumed with jealously over his friendship with a waitress at Gail's restaurant.

Dude the amount of time they avoid hurting Dawson’s feelings is insane. It’s clear Joey was falling for Pacey but denied it because she felt so torn up about hurting her friend. Not sure why they both weren’t honest from the beginning.
The difference between Dawson and Pacey.... Dawson tried to direct his love with Joey as a movie. A day dreamer. Pacey "forced" Joey to think for herself and to make her own choices to be happy. That was the key

@@TheGuyNobodyReallyLikes dawson acted like he OWNED her. he was possessive. pacey asked him, the day of the dance lessons, if dawson still loved joey. he said no, not only once, not just that day. he rejected her more than once. then suddenly when he saw that pacey liked her, turned out that he still loved her! it sounds a lit bit odd, doesn't it? also dawson forcing joey to choose between himself (who he claims to be his SOULMATE) and pacey, his best friend, who was also joey's best friend.. what the heck? it sounds way too selfish and self-centered to me, doesn't it? you claim to be her soulmate, you say you still love her but still force her to choose between two important people, forcing her to stay in a terribile position who just makes her feel bad and hurt. at that point you're an awful man for even doing this to your best friends and i can't even find words. joey and pacey had problems just because dawson was always in the middle. joey fell in love with pacey because he was good to her, he understood her, NEVER forced her to choose. no ultimatums. he made her feel good about herself. he challenged her in a way nobody ever did. she felt ALIVE. pacey also never made joey feel like a kid ("a fifteen years old again" like she said to dawson) or just stuck in a place without being able to go out. a relationship is good if it makes you GROW. dawson never did that.
i think it's time to remember this conversation:
dawson: "do you really think you can compete with history?

pacey: "some history.. 15 years of watching pg movies in your bedroom, followed by another year and a half pretending to be grown up, only to drop each other at the first sign of crises? that's your history? come on, man. and you call this woman your soulmate?"
dawson: "yes, i do, and you knew that, and you went after her anyway."
pacey: "right after you rejected her.

well. it's good to remember that everyone has problems.. it's just up to you if you wanna drop everything at the first sign of crises or just figure it out together and become better people.

Joey chooses Pacey because the producers pressured Williamson to write a fan-service ending. After season 4, Joey moves on completely. It was rather inconsistent to rekindle this story at the end. It's different with Dawson: the ambiguous friendship between her and him is a bit the common thread of the whole series.
Thanks to God the writers decided to put these two together🔝😜

These two were that couple that completely took me by surprise. Kinda like Logan and Veronica in Veronica Mars. I didn't for a second imagine the writers would ever put them together but boy am I glad they did, in both cases. Two of the best love stories on any show i have ever watched.

One of my faves. So many iconic joey and pacey moments: sitting at edge of dock (the beginning), watching Joey sleep, stolen kisses with the countdown to kiss, anti-prom (super special scenes), cast away on true love, drew's party where joey got drunk, ski trip, apartment party where the tv got broken, locked in the walmart, and of course, the ending of the series. Tons more but those are my standouts!
0:59 I love Pacey’s “what?” when Joey finally admits she felt that romantic spark between them when his arm brushed hers in bed. It’s so sincere. He truly thought his feelings were one sided.
Still one of my favourite TV couples, all these years later. Even though Joey wound me up countless times I still love them together, that's why they're a classic.
She changed her mind to much , and made everything about her

first this was HER house two she did not creep she went out side of her house, they herd her, pacey left and she told joey i dont judge but you should tell dawson, that the women he loves is dateing his best freind.
EVERY told them that, and they both know they should, but you never want to blame pacey and joey for anything.
This scene is one of my favourites, aside from the lines between the two, the kissing and getting caught part, that particular song is just wicked and chill. Joey herself is also wicked in the way Pacey wants to kiss her so badly. Dawson would never give her or the audience this feelings ever.

Sorry but not sorry, Dawson had his time with Joey and it just wasn't meant to be for them. Auntie was coming from a place of concern for her nephew but at the same time, she knows nothing of their dynamic. Pacey isn't or hasn't been the reason for Joey and Dawson to not be together. That ship sailed long before The Joey and Pacey Romance even became realized.

They remind me a little of Noah and Allie from the Notebook. Especially in these early stages of their romance. The way she is not certain about them and how he was always the one who knew they belonged together. How he made her knew her feelings and accept them and really do something about them. The way he says to her later is this episode that the reason why she doesn't have answers is because she has been scared to ask the right questions and then he asks her how does SHE feel, cause she already knew how he felt but somehow was oblivious to her own feelings. It's all very similar to that scene when Noah asks Allie what does SHE want,not her parents,or her fiancée,or anybody else, but...her. Two amazing love stories because they knew how to portrait the right amount of femininity and masculinity and how both of them works when it comes to romantic relationships. That's why they will always be timeless.

It’s strange to think back at how successful this show was. It’s actually terrible. Dawson is a jerk. Joey is dramatic. Pacey is the only normal kid. He doesn’t overthink things and try to sound like a 30 year old.

No you’re not alone. I hated her back in the original run and even more now as an adult rewatching it. She destroyed their friendship with her indecisiveness. Dawson gets a lot of flack but Joey broke his heart on more than one occasion. But he’s been labeled the bad guy of the series but he’s not.

I didn't like her in the beginning, and I only grew to like her because Pacey liked her. I really liked her in seasons 5 and 6 because I felt like she became funny, and just more laid back socially. I especially liked her in the KMART episode with Pacey, and the one where she gets drunk and tells Jen's boyfriend how she killed someone. When she ripped Pacey's heart out at the dance they were chaperoning, though, she made me angry. That was so cruel, and Eddie sucked as a character and as her love interest. He never had the Pacey heavy eyes and she chose wrong in that moment.

@@TKDDLJ09 (please, the following is based only in my opinion and I ask you for respect, even with you disagree. And english is not my first language. Thanks for undestanding!) Dawson and Joey are the reason why the series exists in the first place. They'd never able to sustain a Pacey and Joey couple in the series for more than 1 season. The 4º season for me was painful to see. Joey in love with Pacey and Pacey showing all of his bad side for Joey. The prom was the cherry in the top of a really ugly cake that not even tasted good. About the couples, sure, Dawson had his bad moments aswell, but, in the end, his life was always Joey in the center and the rest, you know, was the rest. Dawson had to learn to let it go even when he was still in love with Joey. And had to let her go to the arms of his best friend who hided the whole Joey thing until the moment that Dawson found out. My feeling is that Dawson really loved Joey until the very end of the series and I have a feeling that he was still in love with her after the series ended. This kind of strong feeling that Joey and Dawson nurtured for each other trought the series was the plot that held the series until the end for me (besides the awful 6º season). The soul-mate plot, the blossom of the love trought a beaultiful and strong friendship, the things that you do it for love (the bad and the good), when you hold tight, when you let it go without your will... was all there in the Dawson and Joey couple. I couldn't see that in the Pacey and Joey couple, so Dawson x Joey all the way for me. Like Friends series, Joey x Pacey was like Rachel x Joey for me. Dawson x Joey was more like Ross x Rachel. Something like that.
I think Joey and Pacey don't really like each other. They want each other because they need each other. It's a psychoanalytic thing. Joey wants Pacey because he's even more insecure than her, that reassures her about herself. Pacey wants Joey because winning her over makes him feel like he's not inferior to his best friend. Both have gone a little wrong in this transitional relationship. Thank goodness it all ended at the prom in season 4.
And eventually they got back together. 😍😍😍
