but that 100 percent not true, why dawson did throw a fit, after finding out his best freind LIED to him.
pacey was the same one that told joey i not staying here if you pick dawson, when they broke up i cant be your freind, was jealous all the time when they were dating. throw a fit anytime he did not get his way, broke up with joey in the worse way possible
why dawson risk his life for pacey, was man enough to tell pacey he like his siter before anything happen, and pacey first tried to tell him NO, then talk mad shit about dawson to his sister, then tried to set her up with her cheating ex, then dawson had to pay and push joey for college, why pacey got drunk and got into fight,
THEN when pacey broke up with joey in the worst way possible, left and would no one know if he was alive or dead for mouths.
dawson after dealing with gratchin breaking up with him, brooks DEAD, still help joey did his best to make her feel better AND then once again prove what a good man he was when she ASK him to stay, he could have gotten back into a relationships with her BUT said no give her the summer and more to heal, and she had to ask him to date.
so pacey was never emotionally mature, or he was a little bit patient at time. and then wanted to drink and start fight.
dawson was never selfish, was never insecure, and out side of this one fight, or a emotional wreck,

I agree with everything you said. For people who say this relationship was “pure” Are you kidding? The start of the relationship was built on lies and deceit. The relationship was completely forced. I will agree in the first and second season Dawson was a tad bit immature. But he was a kid/dreamer that’s all he knew. But for me he was the one that matured the most through the series. Even he told Joey it’s time to move on and get out of this room. There’s so many reason why Pacey and Joey didn’t work. For starters Joey was clearly in love with Dawson. It was so obvious throughout season 4. Why is she upset about Dawson and Gretchen? If she was so content with Pacey. Answer. She wasn’t, she was in love with Dawson. First person she wanted to see when they got back was Dawson. First person she kissed 20mins after Her and Pacey broke up....DAWSON! And Pacey became so insecure in season 4 because of that relationship. They’re relationship has it’s cute moments but it was destined for failure because it wasn’t True Love. Dawson gave up everything for Joey. Sacrificed his love, gave her his money, dropped out of school to be with her. I can go on and on. Pacey didn’t even want her to go to school. Just writing this makes me more confused as to why the writers and people wanted Pacey and Joey. It was always Dawson!

here one, people BASH dawson for asking one time if she sleep with pacey,
but leave out everyone ask her.
but also joey ask dawson SIX time about his sex life, when JEN, with EVE, when he went to the nightclub with jen ex, she broke into his bedroom to ask him the second he walk into the door. and then ask him Two time about grachin.
she never once ask pacey even when they broke up.
ps if pacey was jealous before how he going to deal with dawson being a big director why he run the ice house, you know the same place joey sister ran and she acted like she was dirt about it.

I think he just always thought he was better than Pacey and never thought he'd lose his ex against to his best friend out of all people. Him and Joey have been broken up but I think bc him and Joey had so much history he didn't think the other guys would ever compare to him and that Joey would eventually always run back to him bc of their history and how close they are but Pacey was the one guy he truly felt threatened by bc he shares the same amount of history with Joey as Dawson did since he's been around just as long and the fact that they use to "hate" each other to now fallen in love makes Dawson question how that could of happened and now he feels like he lost his place in both of their lives and felt defeated by Pacey in some way. It was clear that Dawson was still in love with Joey and knew that if Pacey won her heart that it was officially game over.

@Miss Manawaka there is still a difference between a person at sixteen and a toxic one. you can be heartbroken, but he claimed joeys feelings "do you feel the same way about me", no dude, come on. she couldn't make her decision without his approval and since he saw she was way happier with pacey, he couldn't give it to her. he wants joey, when he can't have her and even in their friendship he treats her horribly. i agree that the "all or nothing" vibe is very teenager, but its not really reflective. he takes her love for granted and when it changes, he gets angry. that has nothing to do with 16, its possessiv and that makes him toxic.

@@az21bob666 eww no. Dawson was jealous, controlling and didn’t respect joeys right to make decisions. Paceys insecurities come from a broken family, still he grew to become faithful, loyal, and supportive. Dawson threw Joey away like trash and didn’t even think of her again until he found out Joey and pacey were together. Then he wanted to stake his claim. If he were such a good person he would have never manipulated Joey into choosing. Joey clearly wanted to be with pacey and told Dawson as much, but since he was her friend she wanted his blessing and didn’t want to cut ties with Dawson and his family. While pacey didn’t always have the best behavior, neither did Joey and certainly neither did Dawson. He was the worse character on the show by far. I’m glad many people see that.

I know. I mean Dawson had some good moments where he was a good friend but majority of the time he was an entitled, self centered, whiny, spoiled brat. I understand as to why he was upset with Joey and Pacey but at the same time Joey broke it off with him and she tried to get back together with him when she saw him with another girl. He told her no and that they needed time apart, which I didn't blame him bc Joey did break his heart but at the same time he let her go and even encouraged Pacey to look out for her which brought them both closer and fell in love. Dawson had no problem seeing Joey with other guys, bc he knew he had the upper hand over them bc of his friendship/relationship history he had with Joey. He didn't think no other guy could compete with that, but it was obvious he was very threatened by Pacey. It's like he didn't want Joey anymore since he refused to take her back but he didn't want Pacey to have her either. He felt threatened by him bc Pacey shares alot of history with Joey too and he was afraid what they have could be real and he might lose anymore chances with Joey for good.

This clip is one example of how both Dawson and Joey always tried to force romantic love into their friendship and it backfires every time. It’s Dawson’s turn here to behave as he owns Joey and he holds their friendship hostage. In the second season Joey breaks things off with Dawson to find herself because they were so young and being in a relationship with her best friend she’d known for so long was suffocating. Pacey and Joey falling for each other in season three was the perfect example of how love works. It just happened and they couldn’t get rid of it.

@@mightybitchyThey expected Dawson to be their friend and to be there for them. Yes, they were wrong in how they hid their feelings for each other from Dawson but they were scared they’d loose his friendship. Pacey and Joey were friends who became closer and developed feelings for each other,to me, the immature thing would have been if they’d stayed away from each other and miserable under Dawson’s controlling behavior. Dawson claimed to have some kind of romantic hold on Joey even though they weren’t boyfriend/girlfriend and to me, that’s toxic and immature. This is how they wrote it, not an attack on Dawson’s character from my perspective. Also, teenagers are immature and this show is about growing up. When Pacey and Joey understood that their romantic relationship was not making them both happy they broke things off and remained friends, never once laying claim to each other romantically when they weren’t together until they rediscovered their feelings for each other. They supported each other when they were boyfriend and girlfriend and when they were just friends. Dawson and Joey fought continuously over why they never could work out as a couple. If they truly loved each other romantically they would have been able to sustain a romantic relationship. Instead, they constantly put their friendship through hell. The writers could have written it differently and Dawson and sometimes Joey, would have been more likable as characters. They should have made the choice to have them be a couple or remain friends and left it alone instead of dragging it.

It's OK, it's adolescent, it makes sense. And in the end he wisens up and lets her go, he realises that if he truly loves Joey and really wants the best for her, he has to let her go, and guess what, he does it. He ends up totally broken at the end of Season 3 but he does it anyway because it was the right thing to do. It's a breaking point in his growing up process. Dawson's character was based on Kevin Williamson, the series creator, after all, the show's first couple of season were very autobiographical. Dawson is not your typical main character for a teenage drama, which is why he's not that likeable aside from the fact that he's "a good guy". He's neurotic, insecure, and over analytical, which are traits that girls don't really like no matter how romantic the character was supposed to be. That's why everybody loves Pacey and rooted for him and Joey. Pacey was "the perfect boyfriend". Good looking, noble, romantic and charming, and his only flaw was being an underachiever. He sets the bar so high for women that his character is probably the least realistic of the main cast. As a fictional character he was more likeable than Dawson, perfect for teenage girls' fantasies but way less interesting for me at least. And as the show progressed, it became less and less about Dawson and more about Joey.

We always knew what she wanted and what stood in her way. That's storytelling 101. Dawson had goals but no obstacles (at least until later on but even then his path towards being a director was pretty easy), Pacey had obstacles but no goals, Jen's goals were nebulous... I think that's part of the reason why Joey became the main character. I wouldn't even say she's the most interesting and they nearly removed all her obstacles by the end of the show's run (which is part of the problem with the later seasons).

In other words, Dawson was hurt and scared because he realized they had really fallen in love with each other and he had lost his place. There's always going to be a debate on who is better for Joey, Dawson or Pacey. I personally believe that it was Pacey. Dawson was in love with the idea of being in love but he was never actually in love with Joey. It took a while Pacey to realize that he was actually in love with Joey and vice versa. Throughout their courtship and their relationship as a whole they supported each other and made each other strive to be better people. It was a mature relationship from the beginning Dawson and Joey never had that. They were always better off just friends. It took Dawson a long time to realize this but he came to that realization to. Filmmaking always came first for him and that's fine. Pacey and Joey always put each other first. It took Joey and Pacey a long time to realize they were worthy of love and a healthy relationship even their family situations and past relationships. ALSO, keep in mind as a teenager you're just figuring out who you are, what you want to do with your life and who you want in it. That entire group of friends made mistakes they weren't perfect but they learned from their mistakes. That's what made this series realistic. A lot of the topics on the show were groundbreaking in terms of what was showing on TV at the time. And many teenagers go through similar situations even today.

I believe you got to look at it this way, Pacey matched well with Joey. Joey was an overly analytical person that thought everything to death. She spent so much time talking and not living/doing. Having lost both her parents, she probably had abandonment issues and needed a partner that would be focused on acts of service and focused on showing love through action. That is Pacey. Pacey, coming from a horrible family life where he was criticized a lot, needed words of affirmation and quality time. That is Joey. Joey was the thinker. Pacey was the doer. They matched up well.
Dawson, also overly analytical, was a neurotic thinker like Joey. It just didn't work out the same.

    • @fizzychizzy
      @fizzychizzy 3 года назад +5

EXCEPT we, the audience, has seen the reverse and Pacey and Joey reacted better than Dawson. Let's just assume they saw how poorly Dawson reacted and knew how to better handle the situation. In Season 5, Pacey finds out that Dawson is trying to move to Boston to be with Joey in a relationship and he wishes them the best. At this point, Pacey broke up with Joey. He has no claim on her. And he doesn't act out about it. And in Season 5, Joey catches Jen and Dawson making out after she thought she was going to start up a relationship with Dawson. And STILL, better reaction than Dawson.
I think the reason people favor Pacey is because of how he reacts after this fight. He didn't force Joey to chose. He kept telling her that he was not going to give her an ultimatum. Whereas Dawson clung to something that was not there and try to force a relationship when Joey stated several times she just wanted to be friends with him. So, its because of what Pacey did after this episode that got people to side with him more.

Joey and Pacey are so stupid in this storyline. Gretchen said it : they lie so much to protect each other that, and in the end, things are worst. In this kind of situation, there is one rule : tell the truth, from the beginning. Especially between best friends.

I literally had a friendship like this in college, except was only ever interested in my Pacey, never my Dawson. It’s so stressful. When my Dawson found out about me and my Pace, he put us in the very same predicament. Just too much.

So for all the people hating Dawson , let me ask you a question. If you were still in love with your best friend and she started dating another lifelong friend, how would you react as a teenage boy? I know the answer because it happened to me. And they hid it from him. They didn’t have the guts to come clean for a while. Of course he lashed out. He is am immature teen. I get it. It’s a very natural reaction and well written

You may have been in love, but Dawson had clearly shown that he was willing to move on from Joey before this moment. He was hooking up with another girl in front of the entire school even though he knew that Joey was willing and wanting to have sex with him not more than a week or two beforehand. He was able to take her dating AJ. Sure, he acted like an immature teen. But I think you aren't characterizing his state of mind well beforehand.

They were so bad for each other. Their relationship in season 4 ended on a train wreck. Then they realized they were better off as friends. And are endgame? It disappointed me coming from Kevin Williamson, it was preteen writing level.

Pacey had to grow up so much and was so much more grounded than Dawson. Dawson lived in a fantasy world. His behaviour displays so many red flags for me

Honestly as sad that Dawson founds out that Joey and Pacey are together Dawson and Joey were toxic in some ways towards one another it would never work out between them they always argued and never got over of the past so there so much hurt but i know Joey still cares for Dawson more like a best friend truthfully we can’t always get what we want.

Pacey. She hate him self break up with. Joey room age have a break down. He punchs his bosses

@@Nazaba09 well remember Dawson clearly had so many chances to be with his so called soulmate and he rejected her can’t blame Joey for this reminder Dawson was also playing around messing around with Eve why mess around with you can have your soulmate by your side instead of messing around fooling around so clearly Dawson and Joey are not soulmates Dawson don’t understand the meaning Pacey indeed is Joey soulmate there got back together and stayed together so that’s not toxic in my opinion Pacey got it together got his life back together and end game with Joey.

Dawson, imo is a character who, more than wanting to be a movie director, has an intense need to control everything and everyone with an ability to handle difficult unpleasant situations. James Van der Beek seems to demonstrate he works so much better with the more complex darker emotions than the 'good boy'. i feel like one of the reasons why so many viewers hated Dawson wasn't only bc of the character's scripted actions & words but the actor's intense performances in scenes where when he's angry, grieving and berating those around him.

    • @az21bob666
