- The gang is on a trip! Pacey and Joey are forced to share a bed, and they're not happy about it!
From Season 3 Episode 19, 'Stolen Kisses'. Dawson, Joey, Andie, Pacey, and Will (a childhood friend of the gang who has remained close with Pacey) head to Dawson's aunt's house to spend their school holiday away from Capeside. The trip is filled with tension as Joey and Pacey attempt to fight their feelings. Meanwhile, back in Capeside, Jen and Henry go through a bumpy time when she is consumed with jealously over his friendship with a waitress at Gail's restaurant.

They were staying with Dawson's aunt.
Joey's mom died and dad is in jail, Pacey's mom is a selfish and has an alcoholic dad he doesnt care about his son and Andie's mom has a mental health issues and her dad is a homophobic and distant.
The funny thing is... there was plenty of room on that floor.
And the most logical thing would be for dawson and joey to share the bed since they've been doing it on and off for 16 years

.........and Will was never heard from or talked about again. Less of an "old friend" and more of a plot device to help further the Pacey/Joey story.
Will was inserted into Dawson's Creek to promote the upcoming show called Young Americans, which started airing, but didn't go beyond 8 or 9 episodes. Will had nothing to do with Dawson's Creek or Pacey and Joey. So stop fooling yourself.
The other commenter is correct that Will was brought in to promote the short-lived "Young Americans" (it was terrible and was short lived for a reason, although it did have a great cast - with the exception of the guy who played Will, who has the charisma of a doorknob) but I don't know why he had to be so rude about it in his response. I don't know how much of an effect he had on the storyline at all, to be honest. If he wasn't there, they'd have just brought Jack along. Presumably Kerr Smith was off working on a movie or something around this time as he's absent/barely there for a few episodes in a row.

Started rewatching this last night. I always thought pacey was so cute when watching this back in my teenage years. Funny who we crush on growing up.
I never liked Dawson Creek as a kid, I could never get past the Pacey/ teacher sexual relationship in the first season.So I never gave the show a real watch, but I think the show got better with time.
That aspect of the show aged extremely poorly and wasn’t a good look at the time either. They handled the Pacey/teacher thing horribly.
How woke you need to be effected by that as a child ?

How is it their fault? How are they not gentlemen? Aren't they already gentlemen enough by sleeping on the floor and leaving the bed vacant for Andie and Joey? Andie already had the choice of sleeping on the bed, but she decided not to. So how is it their fault? How are they not gentlemen? They didn't even follow the first come, first serve rule. Instead they did the opposite and let the last person to come, to have the bed.
It makes no sense that they all chose to sleep on the hardwood floor without mattresses but whatever. It's a silly trope but it was worth it!
Based on what Will and Dawson said, it seems no one wanted to share the bed (as in sleep with someone) so it makes sense that they all chose the floor with their own sleeping bag.
