I just finished the series for the first time. Throughout the series I never felt like Joey and Pacey made sense. The dynamic and connection just felt nonexistent for me and I'm not sure why. You know those relationships that are meant to take up a few episodes and then each character just moves on? I thought that's what this one would be like, for example when Jen and Pacey tried to become friends with benefits. I was surprised when the show tried to make Pacey and Joey an actual thing throughout the show. It felt forced. Same as Dawson's sudden love for Joey after the pageant. None of it felt real except for Joey's feelings for Dawson.
From like the very first episode when Joey n Pacey had to do that school project with the snails…we See that Pacey at least had attraction to Joey and that Joey doesn’t Hate him. And that Pacey always been there for her to protect her even when she was fawning over Dawson.. example when Joey first got drunk and Pacey punched a guy for her, only for her to thank Dawson. Pacey kisses her first. Pacey is always the reason why Dawson suddenly realizes he doesn’t wanna lose Joey. Joey started to actually see Pacey season 3 when they became better friends, but we remember that Pacey had a crush on her season 1, of course it will resurface. Overall, the connection between them was always there. Especially for Pacey.
