By far the absolute best resource around to learning any classic Skynyrd songs is Scott Raines channel. Everything is spot on, your passion to Skynyrd is outstanding.
One of the best Skynyrd songs ever. Highly underrated.
A few redneck kids from the same area turned out to be near prodigy level musicians and play and write the most incredibly complex and simple tunes. I've been playing since 85 and it still blows my mind how 5 or 6 guys manage to intersect that are all super talented players. The Eagles is another great example .
🌟 Ronnie VanZant GODFATHER of SOUTHERN ROCK 🌟
Way to fast!!!!!
I was at their last concert given by the original band on October 19th, 1977, in Greenville, S.C. at the memorial auditorium. I've also seen you in the Artimus Pyle band and by far the Artimus Pyle band is the closes thing I have ever heard to Ronnie and the original band. I tell everyone if they never got to see the original band, please go hear you all, if possible, I cannot wait to see you all again. Thanks for the music, Bill
Allen Collins is one of my favorites and his brilliance is on full display here. Shades of Clapton and Johnny Winter in these licks and so tasty.
I've got a request for Roll Gypsy Roll. Never seen anyone get it close, but with your ear, I figure you're the man to do it.
I saw them in 87 on the Tribute tour and Ed King just blew me away with his soft touch and precision.
You are the ONLY person I have ever seen play this song correctly. Bravo!!
Once again, Scott saves us hours of time by demonstrating the correct forms from the start. When I watch these I can feel Ed King's spirit in the room.
Man, Lynyrd Skynyrd had some brilliant guitar players and you do a fantastic job of covering their work. Thanks for the excellent videos!
Scott you never cease to amaze with your in-depth studies of some of the best guitar parts ever put to tape. Ed's & Steve's solos alone are borderline rocket science: reckon it takes a degree to figure out that stuff correctly. If you ever decide to make a bold move with Steve's I Know A Little that'd be the best Chrismas present the subscribers could deserve. Stay safe and keep the fire burnin'
Just ran into your videos yesterday. I’m a musician and been playing live and studio work for 20+ years . I’ve played this one a thousand times, and felt I never had the “sound” right on, from rhythm to solo, and you are so right about rolling off that bit of distortion. Ed’s playing was incredibly clean, BUT in order to get through some of those leads I always added a touch more roll on gain. However after hearing your tutorial I realize just how over distorted I was. It want horrid but you are right, you really have to roll that volume back to get the right sound.
Yes sir!!! Phenomenal man I love it!!! Thanks for all you do Scott opening up each section of the song and absolute wonderful information about using an important tool the metronome. Helps in keeping time and placing techniques where they belong in the songs. Thanks Brother!!!! Troy J
That was a fun video. Thanks for going over the solos and the harmonics parts. I stumbled across the harmonics parts by ear a few years ago. I do it lower on the neck, then I saw one of the Winterland videos and noticed that Gary plays it higher up the neck. lol
Thank you, Scott. I wish to extol your mighty musical greatness and your generous nature in sharing it with all of us. I could not a dunnit wit' out you.
I can't believe the solo fade out at
So cool Scott I was just playing this today one of my favorites but need to work on the solo's now I can thank you 👍☮️🎸
Crazy how smooth you went over this! I always thought the little roll you do in the intro went from a C back to D instead of the C#
