I've been part time film making for the last 5 years...solo..like no help whatsoever...just me. The reason i haven't taken it full time is because of how stressful it is. I stop exercising, meditating, taking care of myself and obsess over the project....not good for longevity. I feel ya on that one. Also, one of the main reasons i like film making is the team aspect of it....hard to do that during a pandemic and when you make solo projects. Gets very lonely. It's nice to know i'm not alone in how i feel. Thanks again danny
I live how you're always evolving and glowing your heart. I remember when you were trying to decide whether to go full time RUclips or not and now you've done that and can move on to the next step.
What you've created this year will live for years. I can't tell you how many times have I watched Rapha Rides film - it strikes every time and every time it helps when I'm stuck creatively - it really does help to reignite the process and pull myself together. The character, colours, pace, vibe, edit and of course sound design of that film is something else and I truly can't name anything in that short film that you could have done better. Please continue to push the limits and wish you all the best in 2022!
Your vlogs have been so helpful to me. It’s not a vlog that makes me second guess whether it’s a “get rich fast” vlog/advice, it has condensed & specific tips on the experience. I’m really excited to see your feature film & hopefully I run into you in the future industry. I love you too
Ever since the pandemic started I've been solo filmmaking little shorts here on RUclips and its been some of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences I've had as a filmmaker. It gives me the practice I need on my cinematography and audio skills as you mentioned and has taught me creative ways to improvise if I ever need to. I really do want to work with a small team of people at some point, but Danny you keep giving me inspiration to keep shooting solo here and there to test my skills. Thank you dude!
I enjoy watching your videos. The main thing is I love the fact that you help us realize that it's not about where you're from but where you're at. You're not in Hollywood or the Bay Area or New York, no, you are in Hawaii, and you are making it work for you. . Not just for you but for us. And you make it look good. I appreciate that. Thank you for keeping us inspired with all that you do. I watch and I listen and I look forward to learning more from you.
Fully agree Danny!! To be a solo filmmaker takes a whole lot of different skills stacked together but it’s so freeing to create the story thats in your head without barriers. And when you care about all the details people can’t tell the difference between a massive crew and just you 👌🏼 We actually just won Best Drama for the My Røde Reel comp! And the entire crew was me 😂 My bro Curt & my Dad were the actors, and I did everything else on set. I decided to up my lighting game on our 3 entries inspired by your channel so thanks 🙏🏼 Blown away that we won with just us! So fully with you bro it’s possible to make amazing short form content solo (with a small team), great video once again. So excited to see your feature film!
You’re channel is one of my absolute favorites. I’ve been watching your stuff for a year or two now and it’s incredible watching you grow. You’re a huge inspiration for me as I am starting to break into videography and hopefully cinematography, so I can’t wait to see your feature film.
As a senior year college student studying filmmaking/video production, I can relate to a lot of the struggles here. Just not having the resources available to me starting out is frustrating, because I want to do more but I don't feel I can do what I want to with where I'm at. Appreciated hearing this one
First of all, your videos are a joy to watch. Secondly, I am so excited for your feature film. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself here in RUclips.
It’s been inspiring watching your growth and passion turn into something great! You got this, the film will be awesome. What you share really helps new videographers like me.
Danny the love and passion you have for filmmaking is inspiring. Can't wait to see what you have in store for 2022, and the feature film project. Cheers
You're so inspiring, Danny. It's awesome getting to watch your journey and learn from you. And also seeing your online growth! Pretty sure you only had like 4k subs when I first watched you. Amazing. Thank you for sticking with it and sharing with us!
Looking forward to that feature film. You're one of the only RUclipsrs that I believe can make a moving feature-length film so I will definitely be watching it
Been always wanted to be in a full production team until I saw this. Thank you for sharing and hoping that you can also share/create a video on how your pricing works right now. What did you consider and how do you explain it to your clients if portfolio didn't work as some are expecting a large set for an ad.
Its not only that your films are amazing, its the positive energy your videos give out… you are an amazing person Danny Gevirtz! Thank you for inspiring me!
Congrats! I still to this day remember crying as you're story telling brought me on your journey when you recreated that scene on the bridge from your favorite movie. You literally can do anything and as a fellow 27 year old, you inspire me. Thank you.
Will forever and always be my favorite youtuber. I hope you realize how much your storytelling, relatability, and talent impacts your audience. We are so grateful for you man never stop🤝
Good job at manifesting that beautiful future project!! It will be gorgeous and touching like all the other projects you've made. It's crazy how you think your projects are like good...they're amazing!
Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for 2022. Your story, and how you've shared it with all of us through this vlog style, career based perspective, is remarkably important. I think I speak for many people when I say, thank you for continuing to inspire us with your work. I see you as a pioneer to this art form, and you are testing the boundaries of it, while you deliver, your constant, and very entertaining feedback.
Mate, honestly can't wait for this feature film! Must be well exciting! Thank you for the amazing input you share on this channel, great work, it really inspires me to keep working hard towards my goals. Bless
Facts. Story is nothing without presentation. That's why I lean heavy into the term Story-TELLING! You have to know how to tell the story and the story you want to tell. Such a great video. Thank you Danny!
as a solo documentary filmmaker.. thank you so much for this video... for all of your videos... your vibe and attitude towards filmmaking gives me a massive boost ...i really needed it .. thank you Danny.. love you too
Love your work man. As someone who's been through the journey, may I suggest - build an empire. Build your brand. Back yourself. Build a team that will endure. Whether you stay in Hawaii or move to LA or Paris, find your tribe, and keep shooting. Greetings from Sydney Australia. AJ
I'm happy to see another filmmaker from the 215 making out of Philly. Amazing that you moved to the same state I have been dying to move too. I wish you all the luck and continued success!
@@DannyGevirtz yea but I'm dying to get out lol. I turn 43 tomorrow and other that producing television for Pto wrestling companies that I have worked for my adhd has limited my productivity. That and the fact that 2 years ago someone stole my car with all my gear. But I'm working with what I still have. I admire you younger guys getting those dreams started earlier! I admire the drive!
That very last point about larger than life project hits some truth as someone who is always trying way to hard to do everything myself.. great video man! Thanks!
Go for it bro, each step you've taken, you've taken it as it comes and done what was necessary to get it done in whatever way you could... and we all still love you.
That having a minimal rig is really hitting home. Because I have a BMPCC4k with additional monitor, v-mount and matte box and all these wires shooting out the side. And its becomes hard to shoot because you have to make sure, everything is in order. And it's difficult as a solo filmmaker to just pick up the camera and go. The image is great but at the cost of convenience it is not worth it. Especially traveling with a pelican case and all. I'm definitely down sizing by the end of this year. FX3 or A7SIII possibly. Love these videos!
i wish you all the luck on your first feauture film, and i just want to say for someone all the way from Brazil watching you has been a school, your style is so authentic and pure, your work has been a huge inspiration for myself, thank you and keep on doing cinema!
i want the credits to be rolling for an hour at the end. i do enjoy being the face of the project, but i also really like collaborating with others-especially if we managed to hit it off with each other. i would understand going solo if the environment was hostile and money driven, but most of the time everyone is decent and it's fun. and thank you, what a great video this is.
Thanks for keeping it real as always! I am in a very similar mindset at the moment and I think working with a team that you trust and that has your back is crucial.
