Impressed how you stayed flexible on this hunt. Went in, sized up the deer sign, backed out switching gears to find fresher sign with little daylight left. You pushed in until you found the most recent rubs and scrapes, then knocked on his bedroom door! I have been hunting for over 40 years but you are schooling me in some pretty sweet tactics that definitely produce. So glad for your success and the whole team’s willingness to share excellent content and knowledge!
THAT'S the reason I love THP... Ted.... The greatest part I think, was your ability to be yourself and not let anything push or influence you into a direction that could have changed the outcome. You knew that time was ticking, so you opted out of getting up into a tree, due to not seeing deer sign you wanted at the original location, then you made the choice to play the wind and set up in a travel rout that put you in the intersection, then you made the correct calls to that buck to test your luck (50/50 shot) either he's coming or he's already gone. And then he played your game and lost. That is the hard work that will never be tested on the BIG hunting shows.... Game well played Ted 👍... Now you have until Jan.1 in Michigan to fill that tag in your pocket, that's the redemption show I want to watch!

I watched this again today for the second time. Here is my favorite moment from this story...yet no one, and I mean no one, has commented on the most important wisdom from this entire hunt:
~18:20. Ted: (Pulling in...Looks at the home he grew up in) “Well, there it is. It ain’t much...we call ‘er ‘The Shack’.”
Ted, in that home, are two people that love each other, that love you, and a dad that’s proud of you. Yep, ‘it ain’t much’...it’s EVERYTHING.
man I hope people appreciate what's going on here. Slip in to public dirt, call in and shoot a big buck from the ground with a bow while filming, it's just nuts. Ted is the new BEAST! Again simply amazing.

In what seems to be 4th and goal from the 4 yard line with 4 seconds to go in the 4th quarter, Buckethead, with ice in his veins, draws his bow sending a missle through the boiler room of the Bull in the woods to score!! As he stands there all alone pumped from the adrenaline rush fist pumping from the success of the hunt and there's no crowd to cheer him on, but that doesn't matter because the thrill of victory roars through his mind and the victory is sweet to the taste!
I'm telling you that boy is a "deer magnet"! I ain't never seen nuthin like it! Lol

I love that you guys hunt from the ground a great deal of the time. The memories made when a mature buck is at eye level and spitting distance are without question the ones that hang with you through the years. Just a suggestion of a couple of things to add to your arsenal next year. 1) A sling shot and some marbles. Either to add scent to marbles and put that scent where you want it, or to launch a marble to create some movement.
2) Tarsal glands. The smell of a tarsel can work wonders when used at the right place and time.
3) Interdigital scent. Take a sharp knife and split the rear hoof of a buck between the toes. Inside you will find a canal that contains a wax like substance that identifies that deer as a certain individual. Use your imagination on how a bit of that scent, some boiling water and a sterilized marble can put scent that will totally piss a mature buck off during pre rut when launched to the right spot. The possibilities are limited to your ability to use them. Natural geletin works great as a scent extender when mixed, refrigerated/Frozen and handled properly. Really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work, and good luck during shotgun.

Really enjoy the post hunt footage on this one including the processing and euro mount stuff. We all know that letting the arrow fly only begins the work. Half the fun however is doing all that with friends/family.

I felt every piece of this hunt. I'm always hunting by myself so the drag and loading a 200 lb deer into the back of anything (my case a Nissan xterra) is never easy. Great job, Ted! He's a good buck

Congrats Ted on another great buck!! It's always a job dragging them out by yourself but it is definitely fun and makes me feel like a badass the times I have done it. I'm getting alitte old for that now but dragged alot out when I was younger and it really makes you feel like you have accomplished alot more when you do it by yourself. Good job 👍
