But she knew her job was to help unify the country. And she did exactly that. First, by not letting the breakdown of the accompaniment track stop her. She knew she wasn't in charge of the program, but when those “running the show” came to her, as if to say, “We don't know what to do,” she replied confidently, "A cappella. I'll just sing it." Then she took a step beyond that by inviting those present to join her in singing, so as to include everyone in a show of unity. The best thing about this was not her performance -- no surprise, we have all known for years how well she can sing, and she did wonderfully -- but that she had a higher purpose than simply providing entertainment and she wasn't going to let anything stop that from happening. So she used what she had, as a singer and, even more, as a person with strength and dedication, in order to overcome unfavorable circumstances and accomplish what she was there to do. I believe this was a moment of unity that will always be remembered as a highlight in the history of this country. Thank you, Carrie, for this extraordinary example of courage and leadership. You have blessed us all.

I honestly felt really badly for her especially after all the crap she got for agreeing to do it in the first place. She’s a total pro and deserved better!! I wonder what it was originally supposed to be, I’m assuming a much more grand performance, possibly longer, seemed very abbreviated.
