Pat Benatar, she’s not country, but she is a trained opera singer who chose to sing rock. If you haven’t already, check out her songs Promises in the Dark, Hell is for Children, You Better Run or All Fired Up. She has an incredibly powerful voice, and is touring to this day at 71 years old.
She has so many genres she sing, check out her with Ludicrous (Champion), she also does a great cover of Paradise City live at the CMA’, and the cover she does of Ozzy’s song (momma I’m coming home) on the Howard stern show is great too. Her well is extremely deep personally and with other singers.
A song a like of Carrie Underwood’s I like is Before He Cheats, the video version is what I prefer. It is very different from this song. Also, Jesus Take the Wheel. Vince Gill’s Oklahoma Swing is just the first of his many hits that popped into my head. Although you cannot go wrong with any of his. His song Go Rest High on That Mountain especially the one done for George Jones’ funeral is also a great song.
