Great video! I remember this deck and the stickers quite well! I had no idea of the connection between RL, Steve and Rodney despite being big fans of all of them back in the day. Thanks for the very informative trip down memory lane!

Holy crap! I had forgotten about those sticker sets that you could get. I remember one in which you had like a rub on sheet of graphics and a one or two page scene and you would get a coin or something hard and and then decide where you wanted to place your sticker. You would then place that semi clear sheet on the paper and rub the sticker and it would transfer that onto the sheet. You had to make sure you rubbed the entire graphic because if you didnʻt, it would get cut off. I want to say I also remember something similar to this where the stickers could be reused as they were vinyl or something like that. The board had a glossy cover on the scene and then those stickers could be moved around. Not sure if this is the same kinda thing with this board. Cool crossover with RL too! Thanks for sharing!

I remember those rub ons too. I still have a couple of Topps baseball ones. The vinyl, I think you are describing are Colorforms. I loved playing with Colorforms sets a kid. This skateboard was sort of a tongue in cheek interpretation of those old Colorforms sets, I think. Yeah, I was sort of blown away when I heard about the RL connection. It’s such a big connection, that I’m surprised it’s not more well known. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I had the Kryptonics Krypstik pink board with black checkers and Krypstik written in rainbow colors on the bottom of the deck. 1986

I feel like Mark did the todd congeliere liberty skates icee bear graphics, not entirely sure on that. My sophmore year at redondo union high school biology class i realized i was sitting in front of Todd's sister. (Alphbetical order Brewer, Congelliere).. Todd, mike smith, rocco were all south bay legends in the 80's. I struck up a friendship with todds sister and she eventually invited me to skate todds half pipe in their backyard. I remember it being sketchy and hard to skate, but it was cool to watch Todd and Mike Smith skate that thing!!!

Hey Marcus 👋 I think you’re right about Marc creating the Icee Bear graphics. It’s so cool that you got to skate with Todd at his ramp. 🙌🙌🙌 That Icee Bear graphic, the one with the mug shots, was my next board after this one. It would be awesome if they reissued it too.

@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood yes, it would!!! I always really liked the Mike Smith duck graphic done by lucero for Madrid and later liberty and black label reissues!! I lived on 2nd ave. In Hermosa and Mike Smith lived around 16ave if i remember right... what a blessing to have grown up in the 80's smack dab in the middle of all that skateboard history in the making...First ever skateboard contest was held in Hermosa Beach!!!

So stoked on your comment! Yes all legends. I also grew up in Redondo, had the liberty board and visited Congellieres half pipe in his backyard. I was too young to skate it tho. Used to skate around Redondo with my friends late 80s and early 90's. Loved going to ET Surf :) So cool. An amazing time and amazing place for sure.

Nice video as per usual. I think Andy Jenkins done Jason Lee’s cat in the hat graphics instead of Mark. Mark done the Satan deck for Jason but he later refused it so they gave it to Natas. Keep up the good work 👊🏻

Thanks! Interesting point about the cat in the hat. I know there were a couple versions, maybe they weren’t all by the same artist? Marc has one listed in his portfolio: www.marcmckee.com/blind-1 The satan deck is an interesting story for sure, I watched a couple different videos on it, and it was interesting that Rocco was almost asking Jason to sell his soul in exchange for the $10,000 check to accept it.
And then after Jason refused it, Natas was like, “I guess I’ll take it… Karens already think my name comes from spelling satan backwards anyway, it’d be a funny joke” 🤣

@@TheNostalgicNeighborhood Andy talked about the graphic on the Nine club. He sold his deck for $2500 about 10 years ago. I tried to buy one back but to no avail as I did exactly the same as you and snapped my deck in half. Jason Lee actually took the 10 grand but it was Gonz that talked him out of it. Again heard that on the Nine club.
