Don Early is a true OG and just a really good person. It’s funny watching this, because having worked for him at Future Sk8 many many many moons ago way before this current chesterfield location, I’d be sitting with him on his couch at his home and he proudly showed me everything shown in this interview and much much more. Don is an absolute hoarder and his collection of skateboard history is truly monumental on an insane level. When he first showed me this stuff I was absolutely mind blown. And everything has a vivid story from Don’s memory to go with it. He’s got a bunch of really cool and unique Neil Blender artwork too. I mean it just goes on and on. Genuine dude! Glad to see he’s still at it. The dude is so passionate about skateboarding that he’ll be doing this until the day he dies

I'm an old school BMX rider but love skateboarding as well. my all time favorite deck is the Vision Mark Gonzalez deck. Now i've seen skateshops my entire life but this skateshop takes the cake. This place is an all in one. skateshop, museum, and skatepark freaking wowwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That vision gonz deck is on my list of all time greats, I still want to get one of those and a santa Cruz/hosoi skates hosoi hammerhead, light blue, what a grail!
Man this is like walking back in time! Excellent collection and many of those boards bring back memories of skating with buddies as kids and swapping boards trying out everyone’s different setup. That OG Vision Psycho Stick on the wall and the Caballero on its side 👌🏼
I used to skate here and it was awsome great staff and teachers and good prices on boards too, its nice to see a good skate park and shop geting some tractoin.
The mellow cat shirt is absolutely great.... I looked forward to reading that comic every month back then.... I actually rode groundbreaking skateboard stuff cuz I ordered everything from Val surf living in Manassas Virginia.... I had the first concave deck in Virginia I dare say and that would have been 1978.... Long before any of the big companies .

What a place took me back to my youth still have my OG Santa Cruz slasher . Started skateboarding with mum dad and my sisters in the 70s in north west England still got this in my blood top video mate keep these up 👍
Future sk8 was next to a archery shop when I was a kid and I watched some guys on a ramp, Don was there, I loved it, skated until a few years ago, I'm to fragile now lol I do love bombing hills still

Thx for making this. Don sold me my first legit set up. It was a walker nightmare 2. A bunch of my close friends were on the future sk8 team in the late 80s early 90s.
Growing up in San Diego, we were pretty spoiled with skate parks, skate companies, etc. basically the hub of So Cal. Vert skateboarding back in the 70s and 80s. It’s amazing how many other places around the country have rad skate scenes as well that you just don’t think about . Awesome video that shop looked amazing!

Yeah, it’s interesting to think about it. Most of what we saw in the magazines was from your area and we were always California dreaming, but definitely cool to see the pockets of cool stuff happening throughout the rest of the country too 🙌
They will sadly get destroyed with the mall. Super nice owner. Little grumpy at first but realized I was just trying to learn and opened up instantly. Even roasted my board lol

I fell off a ladder in my backyard few years ago and dislocated my shoulder pretty badly. Definitely a good reminder to keep ladder safety in mind, but I’ve hurt myself MUCH worse riding my skateboard 🤣

Thanks for the feedback. The primary owner of Monza, Thomas, is Swedish and still lives in Sweden. Most of their sales are direct to consumer from their website. But they do have some shops who sell them too. I have no idea if any local shops in Sweden have them. If you email Thomas, he might be able to give you some direction: thomas@monzabc.com 👍

But they said, yes, the main office is still in Sweden, Stockholm but after the pandemic, we decided to stop selling bikes in the Eu and now only sell bikes in the USA.. I asked if I could not just go by their office and find a local deal right htere!? ...but seemed on whoever I talked iwth over Facebook felt that they really do not have any bikes here in Eu anymore or do not wanna sell them to us.. I do not know... I mean if had the headquarters of a BMX company in the city where the company was first started I sure would still have a few bikes at hand where I worked... but I do not know...

There is one skate deck I have not seen since 1991... The Naked board, made with I think it was called petex. plastic layer so you did not need sex wax. If you do find this gem. please do a video on it. remember how durable this deck was? hard to snap even off a flight of seven stairs.
Didn’t know about this and I lived in the city for a couple years. But it’s a little outside town to know about it. And the skate scene is not too good in St. Louis. Prob only saw 5 or less skaters in my time there
There’s actually a really nice scene in STL through the years. The skaters are just scattered all over the place in pockets. You just gotta get plugged in…
Unfortunately, they have to move. As of a couple weeks ago, they hadn’t found a new location yet. Hopefully, they’re having good luck on the new place. 🤞

Hammils Skate Shop in Mission Beach ruled all! Got my 1st Hawk deck there in 1989.

There is one skate deck I have not seen since 1991... The Naked board, made with I think it was called petex. plastic layer so you did not need sex wax. If you do find this gem. please do a video on it. remember how durable this deck was? hard to snap even off a flight of seven stairs.

Didn’t know about this and I lived in the city for a couple years. But it’s a little outside town to know about it. And the skate scene is not too good in St. Louis. Prob only saw 5 or less skaters in my time there
There’s actually a really nice scene in STL through the years. The skaters are just scattered all over the place in pockets. You just gotta get plugged in…

Unfortunately, they have to move. As of a couple weeks ago, they hadn’t found a new location yet. Hopefully, they’re having good luck on the new place. 🤞
