You need to understand that there is a huge difference between Slytherins in the story and Slytherins in real life. It’s not the same context. In the story, you cannot divorce Slytherins from the history of its house and the circumstances surrounding when the story is told. The context is that this is a house that’s tainted by pure blood supremacy because of the last war and the influences of certain people within that house and how much family influence can affect children going to school. Slytherins in real life do not have the baggage of in story history, and thus Slytherins in real life can express Slytherin traits to its full potential without it being “evil” Slytherins aren’t typecast as evil because of ambition and wanting to achieve goals, they’re typecast in story due to very specific circumstances and history. You in real life should not be ashamed of being a Slytherin because you are not someone that exists within a story and its set of circumstances and history.
I found that most of these weren't quite right. Also, the full saying is, "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Meaning, the loyalty of friendship is a stronger bond than the duty of family. Also, a Slytherin will fake a smile and be polite if it means getting what they want.

Just because you are a Slytherin doesn’t mean you’re automatically evil. Just because Salazar Slytherin was a pure-blood supremacist doesn’t mean you have to be exactly like him. Sure, there have been multiple people from that house who were totally prejudiced against Muggles and Muggle-Borns, or as they prefer to call them: “Mudbloods”, however, that doesn’t mean all Slytherins act that same way. We must be happy with our own houses and we shouldn’t be enemies with the other houses. While it might be true that most of the Dark Wizards came from that house, with the exception of Wormtail and Quirrel, that doesn’t mean we must be totally against the house as a whole. One example of a Slytherin who was never bad was Horace Slughorn. He’s ambitious, determined, and fights against the Death Eaters at the Battle of Hogwarts. Harry’s son Albus is also a Slytherin. We are not supposed to hate each other just for being in different houses. Let us be happy with our houses and keep having magically wonderful lives.

I found that most of these weren't quite right. Also, the full saying is, "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." Meaning, the loyalty of friendship is a stronger bond than the duty of family.

Just because you are a Slytherin doesn’t mean you’re automatically evil. Just because Salazar Slytherin was a pure-blood supremacist doesn’t mean you have to be exactly like him. Sure, there have been multiple people from that house who were totally prejudiced against Muggles and Muggle-Borns, or as they prefer to call them: “Mudbloods”, however, that doesn’t mean all Slytherins act that same way. We must be happy with our own houses and we shouldn’t be enemies with the other houses. While it might be true that most of the Dark Wizards came from that house, with the exception of Wormtail and Quirrel, that doesn’t mean we must be totally against the house as a whole. One example of a Slytherin who was never bad was Horace Slughorn. He’s ambitious, determined, and fights against the Death Eaters at the Battle of Hogwarts. Harry’s son Albus is also a Slytherin. We are not supposed to hate each other just for being in different houses. Let us be happy with our houses and keep having magically wonderful lives.

I used to believe in "Slytherin scum," but a couple friends and this video are helping me to slowly overcome that prejudice. This belief was so pertinent that I honestly would not be surprised if, at some point, there was at least one wave of a Slytherin killing spree.

They were mostly described as bullies, cheaters, prejudiced, and murderous people who abused those whom they considered to be in a lower rank. J.K. even stated that she herself hates Slytherin. That’s why Slytherin is way too over-hated. Slytherin is not supposed to be viewed as “The Evil House”, it’s just too harsh for one of the most well-respected houses at Hogwarts.

Pottermore sorted me Slytherin, so Imma go with it.
Pottermore sorted me into Slytherin house and for my Ilvermorny house I was sorted into Horned Serpent.
I was sorted into Ravenclaw, redid it and got into Slytherin. I retook it again after that and got Ravenclaw once more.

Slytherin competitive trait is Snape giving gryffindors detentions during their scheduled practices so Slytherin is better trained, or not awarding house points to anyother house.than Slytherin while taking unjust amount of points form other houses; its Malfoy practicing potions and spells in his home before school starts so he has a leg up in class; its Slughorn giving special treatment to the most accomplished students; basically, its strategic decisions made to guarantee a win in life. i’m a proud slytherin!! i hate that we’re known as the evil house and all the evil people in the wizarding world come from slytherin but it’s because one thing all villains have in common is their ambition to get what they want by any means necessary and that’s the epitome of being a slytherin. we’re hard working, cunning and goal oriented people. i myself do draw a line when it comes to things i’ll do to get what i want or to achieve my goals but it’s only a fine line. for example, i won’t betray a friend or family member or even go as far as to commit a crime like murder but still, i have a lot of drive and ambition and i’ll go as far as i can without hurting anyone. slytherin is one of the best, if not THE best house at hogwarts and we’re so underrated. 🐍🐍🐍💚💚

I think the movie is more fun and Slytherin more suspicious but you’re wrong, Merlin was a Slytherin yet he didn’t kill anyone. Gryffindor is recognized for their courage, wit is the main trait of a Ravenclaw, kindness makes up a Hufflepuff but it is cunningness that defines a Slytherin, not being a killer. The movie is more exciting with the viewers suspecting Slytherin, but it is also wrong in a way.
