New 1025hp Dodge Demon: 0-60mph in 1.66 seconds!!

- Dodge has just unveiled the quickest production car in the WORLD!
The new Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 comes with a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that can produce 1025hp and propel this all-American classic to 60mph in just 1.66 seconds! Not only that but when tested on a drag strip it ran the quarter-mile in just 8.91 seconds!
But here’s the thing… That’s not the only exciting car to be unveiled in the past week! Ferrari has also lifted the veil on the all-new Roma Spider - the first front engine-mounted Ferrari with a soft top to be released since 1969! It won’t come cheap, though, with the price likely to cost £170,000+!
Not only that, but Lamborghini has unveiled some details about the upcoming Aventador replacement, which will come with a 6.5-litre V12 and THREE electric motors! With that in mind, a 1000hp+ power output is pretty much inevitable.

I’m just interested in seeing if anyone will ever be able to launch this thing to achieve that time. My guess is this is going to struggle for traction like the others in the line up.

Considering this car was produced to be run on a drag strip, I'm pretty sure it can eaisly achieve 1.7 seconds. Also, considering how it actually launches, unlike the AWD systems they have in Europe, it's actually more capable of launching that fast. After all, a stock Demon can do the quarter mile at least around 9.8 seconds, proven.

Yep. That’s exactly why the Demon 170 would get smoked by the Plaid on the street. Electric cars can control traction better than any gas powered vehicle, but even cars like the SF90 or 911 Turbo S still have much smarter traction systems that Dodge ever could.

Note that the 1025 HP comes from using E85 fuel. Which, in the US, you can find at a number of pump across the US or buy some and store it at home. This is way better than the last Demon where you HAD to take the car to a dealership for them to swap the ECU then actually get some high octane race fuel thats not easy to find. Using regular pump gas and it drops to 900 HP. Dodge is doing a awesome last call for their ICE Chargers/Challengers but unless you are running drag radials all the time and in warm, dry weather then you're never going to be able to put that power down on the road.
Still would be nice to own one and then wait 10 years and flip it for a huge profit like the original Demon has done.
Too bad they didn't make it AWD, then you could actually use most of that power on the street.
Still, gonna be a mean car on the strip.
ICE are not going anywhere, lol. Few countries in Europe who started the stupid EV conversion has backed out and they will be making ICE vehicles.
EV vehicles are just useless and impractical especially in counties with extreme weather.

Note the surface! Dodge was using a prepped surface which is so sticky you’d lose your shoes if you stepped on it. No way it could do that on a normal surface. I’d like to see the McMurtry on the prepped surface.

these dodge 0-60 times are so inflated.. its assuming you have drag radials, high octane fuel, and a prepped drag surface, AND a slight roll which is allowed in US drag racing.. anyone who has tried to drag race the demon on a runway or road has never been able to get near even 3.5
Yup the SF90 would win every time on going head to hea don regular tarmic with regular fuel and tyres
@@anyexpat carwow drag raced it against a Turbo S… demon got destroyed… even in the roll race. throttle house even did a hellcat red eye which is basically 95% a demon, vs M5cs… in a rolling race the M5 still won. dodge will never get near european levels of engineering, hence them being way cheaper.

Dodge literally said they're not trying to be a sports car or track car. They're aiming to be a drag oriented car. The Dodge Challenger looks very good because it has that retro muscle car look with a modern twist.

Seeing as they are selling it only in the US (3k units) and Canada (300 unit's). E85 is available across the US at gas stations and Canada...not really. You can buy 5 gal cans with E85 and have them sitting at your house when you need to fill up.
But I agree. Still silly on their marketing scheme but this isn't as bad as the promotions they did for the first Demon. At least with this one, you don't have to swap ECU's (which could technically only be done at dealerships) to get the max power. You just need to fill it up with E85.

It would be cool to see this hemi engine in a mid engine design considering it's too much power for the wheels to handle and it's why you have to prep the track and get specific tires for it. If they can manage something like that and did what GM did I'm sure that car would sell out tbh. It would be one of the fastest cars you could buy if they pushed it for 100k , it would sell like hot cakes.

I had the Hellcat - this car lose again every RS3, because you are not on a drag strip. At the normal Highway this car is senseless, but extremly cool :)
The biggest issue with hellcats and above is traction in everyday use. Impromptu streetraces with this car is never a good idea, especially going against awd cars.
True. With road legal tires and Premium fuel (not racing fuel), the Demon 170 just gets demolished by cars like the Tesla Model S.

@@MarksTech A plaid on the street is as fast as this new Dodge on prepped surface so sticky that you can't walk on it. Dodge needs 95% octane fuel too AND a perfect launch. Just get any real wheel drive car, place 1000HP on it. That is literally this Dodge. Know what is more impressive? A Porsche 911 Turbo S ;) Low HP but tuned to perfection. A true machine.

It got its 0-60 mph time with drag tires, drag strip, and E85 fuel. It’s just another challenger to everyone else at that point, fishtailing like hell on a normal surface.
