In the yard drainage industry we always have to use parts that are made for something else because nobody wants to make us the correct part. So here we go - here's the French Drain Man's Not Quite a 90 - it's closest to a 90 but we definitely cheated a few degrees. So we have the same rise as you get when you use a sanitary T but more flow rate because it's not a true 90 degree elbow.

I like the fact that the drain pipe inserts into the 90 rather than snapping over it.

I have one of your older style short 90 versions that I bought last year. It was just installed a few days ago and today was the first actual storm to test it out with. I’m very happy with the results as it worked well in my application.

Long sweep 90 would work also. Love the videos and info. It's fun watching and learning from other professionals.

So my plan was originally to terminate my line with 2-5 feet of 4” knife cut (with a sock) into a sump pop up emitter (so the sanitary T). Keep in mind I live in Alberta Canada which is even colder than Michigan. Would I need to drill a hole in the bottom of this new “not quite 90” fitting to allow for more water to leach into the subsoil?

Love the new design! Question, I’m now considering buying your pro kit with the not quite a 90 on both ends plus the catch basin with grate top with 3” corrugated. Will this be sufficient during winter in north east with the leaching at not quite a 90 fitting? I’m also considering knife cutting the bottom of corrugated pipe last few feet to prevent freeze ups with leftover water. Would add fabric and pea stone to catch basil, pop up emitter, and any knife cut on corrugated piping. Thoughts?

Awesome! I have 2 wye fittings from you installed in my yard. I agree, there is not enough flow. I have never had water even come out of the pop up because the water flows down into the rock/ soil into the basin. I might have to buy these and give these a try! For the north, do you still reccomens drilling a hole in the 90 degree bend for the north to keep the water out, or just don't tape it and you should be fine? I also have the slotted 2ft pipe in front of my pop up

      That's a great 👍 system you ran.
You won't see water when it starts raining because the ground's gonna absorb a lot of the water with that setup. No worries, you are good.

@FRENCHDRAINMAN do you reccomend changing out the wye or leave them? I have to run one more downspout in the next 2 weeks. Use the new 90 or a wye? Drill a hole in the 90 still or no?

In the installation for this new emitter near the end of the video, it looks like there are two of these emitters. Is there a formula for how many pop-up emitters are needed per every "x" number of feet? Would one pop-up emitter suffice for a 40 foot line?

Will there be a PVC pipe-fitting version? Or will I just have to use a PVC-to-corrugate adapter?
(My lines are going out from my backyard to the sidewalk past my driveway, which leads to a curb->drain. No heavy traffic over it, and we are indeed doing it properly using burrito wrap method, geometric non-woven fabric, drain rock, correct slope, etc.)

Mr French drain, is there a flapper or something available for where my 4" and 6" French drains daylight? I have the slotted caps but they sometimes get blocked, if I leave them open, squirrels start living in the drain tiles.

I have started to install my system using all of your products! Can't get better quality than this stuff.
I am noticing standing water after in my Not Quite A 90. Would you assume I have it pitched too far forward so it can't leach through the connector? And I'm using one 4oz 3x4 fabric for each pop-up and catch basin. That's not too thick of fabric for each one right? Thank you again as investing in your products are well worth it!

    • @FRENCHDRAINMAN
      @FRENCHDRAINMAN  Месяц назад +1

That's actually quite normal in clay soils. It's just so hard to leach water in clay. The only thing that I know of that would remedy that is if you do a stone French drain from the pop-up to where the grade breaks even more. I mean to do a video on this for those who have the ambition and feel it necessary to sleep well at night. But I'm going to give you my honest opinion in the matter. When it's frozen, everything is frozen up. When we have a thaw, it will thaw.

When is this new part going to be available on the French Drain man Canada site? As well, there is a white 4” end cap you guys use that fits your catch basins and 4” corrugated pipe that is on the American site but not available on the Canadian site that I want as well. How do I obtain that in my order? I’m planning on placing an order within the next 1-2 months. Thanks.

based on the height of the pop up, you guys are really not worrying about sloping away from the house? Just run the lines a few inches underneath the soil? The flow of the water from the downspouts will carry the water regardless? Am I understanding that right?

We have, but it's a 90°.and it's PVC, which doesn't hold up to heavy lawn mowers. It cracks during the freeze / thaw cycle in the North. This new fitting has a higher flow rate.
