For those who don't know what that is, it is when an engine ingests too much water causing the engine to seize an 9 out of 10 times causes catastrophic engine failure. Especially if you have a low car, don't go into high water or you may pay a hefty price
@Saabspeedmaniac2k6.... Yep! Well said! The European cars are always the worst I've heard to suffer from hydrolocking because the bill is in the 1000's as opposed to Japanese cheaper fixes.I heard of a guy whose Volkwagen hydrolocked in one of these and he was looking at a $4000-$6000 bill.

There's some philosophy here. He's doing what he likes but there are some jerks who don't bother slowing down and don't care if someone gets splashed or they splash him on purpose. He, however, keeps on with his work and eventually there's no water and he can't be splashed anymore.
Also, he seems to love whirlpools. He knows he can't see whirlpools unless he solves a problem they represent. So he solves the problems that let him see whirlpools. Chaudhry Azeem The last thing you wanna do is race into a deep puddle. 😂 You can’t always tell how deep it is and there could be debris or potholes caused by the flood. Plus the faster you go into the puddle the more water your going to have splashing your engine and with modern cars becoming more technical you’re risking some damage to your engine or electrical parts.
men, we have gathered here to all enjoy the moment that we have waited for. not all of us were blessed enough to have that one street where the drains always clogged, or always had rocks in front of them. not all of us could be a a hero like this man. but we shall forever bask in his glory, as he has cemented this journey onto the internet forever.
@Thomas L I've had some arsehole drive through the deepest part of a flooded road full speed to deliberately drown my car. My car was a Hyundai with all the electronics and he had a 4 wheel drive and thought it was so funny. I certainly didn't and I'm still peeved off because he could have just killed my car.
@Thomas L Yeah same thought. My dad used to drive a Subaru through water higher than that near our house. It was low to the ground but had 4WD so it handled it better than a 2WD but he said you had to should never stop and try never to slow down but keep the same pace. Just in the passenger seat, I could feel the pressure from when the water reached the bumper and then when it let go. It also splashed a lot. I also walked the sidewalk on that road in a few floods and was splashed. It sucked but I understood it. Most people aren't doing it on purpose in those conditions. People splashing on purpose are usually when it finishes raining and there's a puddle somewhere. You can hear them rev up and if facing them see them veer over to hit it on purpose. Driving on the sidewalks, however, is the worst. Those people should get reported and fined. If flooding is that bad you don't know if someone had to leave their house and is on the sidewalk. It could be the elderly, children, someone with pets, etc.
@@jarvindriftwood I'm not entirely sure he's correct with his 'never slow down' advice, because most driving instructions I've seen concerning waterlogged roads is 1. avoid if possible 2. slow down if you have to go through. Going faster just makes it easier to lose control of the car because of aquaplaning.
If you slow down, the water can clog your engine and cause your engine to lock up (flooding the engine). The never slow down advice is actually good advice. You should keep a speed you can control, preferably a decently faster not slower speed but not too fast. Don’t speed up but definitely don’t slow down.

He may be great at his job but not good at leading other people: he should be given a job and a raise for his expertise, but not necessarily be guiding others, which is among the reasons why so many good workers rise to positions they aren't fit for. The Peter Principle: people in a hierarchy tend to rise to their "level of incompetence".
Mr Knarf He has a wealth of knowledge. If he may not be a suitable leader, but certainly a champion within the learning and development of others who are open and willing to learn. It looks simple how he unclogs those drains but the knowledge about the landscape and why the water was rising is great. Many may think it’s just some common theory but clearly no one in the city cared to fixed it. It’s not about how much you know but how you apply it!
If you wanna help, homeless shelters always need blankets, socks, laundry detergent, caffeinated drinks (helps the addicts reduce symptoms) and sanitary pads. There’s always one nearby and some even do shipment or pickups.

See… this pov doesn’t make any sense to me. Yeah, he’s a great guy and genuinely cares but look at how many people are out there ready to take advantage of that? Look at how many people drove up on the sidewalk while that one person was working hard for the benefit of others. What chance does this world have if every gem of a person like this is completely outnumbered by self-absorbed pieces of crap?
You really should give these videos to your local news, your mayor, city council, and any people that live near those storm drains to educate them on the importance of keeping storm drains clear, how easy it is to clear them, and how clearing a few drains can keep streets passable and possibly save lives. Most people don't understand it only takes 6 inches of water to sweep a car away. Good on you to take the Initiative to help your community!
The problem isn't necessarily the city itself. You'll notice a lot of natural debris that gets swept into these drains and blocks the flow of water. Get the debris under control and no more clogged storm drains.
This man is a legend. Exactly 0% of other people wouldn't do anything like this, yet this man goes out in the pouring rain just to fix the city's road. He should live tax-free just for the amount of work he does for the city.

Don’t award mediocrity, we don’t need to pat people on the back who follow simple rules of the road and Highway Code they should have learned already like slow down when entering a flooded area to protect your car, your brakes and yourself, this is expected of every competent and licensed driver. Anyone who just ploughs into the water is either blind or an idiot which is more dangerous. Blind people wouldn’t see the massive build up of water like the guy who hard splashed him, they slammed the brakes once they hit the water so they didn’t see it coming, in which case their judgement is compromised or their vision is shit, either way get them off the road The idiot drives on the pavement to avoid the water on a cluttered pavement with trees on a corner which could have pedestrians you don’t see or just drives through the water like it isn’t there, which can wreck the car and you just know they didn’t check their brakes after leaving the water to make sure they’re working properly so they’re both a dick who should be off the road but also driving a potentially unsafe vehicle, Bad drivers make normal drivers look good, don’t congratulate people for common sense, embarrass the bad ones so they go extinct, or put some cement mix on the pavement to fuse their brakes up good

It's all about the whirlpools
This guy is awesome! As a mechanic I can say he has saved engines from hydro locking.
That 1 out of 10 times you say a prayer, pull the spark plugs out, spin the motor to get the water out and hope you don't have a bent rod assuming it hasn't already made a window in your block. Then you pray for the electronics 😂
I was really surprised at the amount of traffic. And didn't blame people for wanting to drive on the sidewalk.
@@judyjohnson9610 "Lemme just actively endanger pedestrians for the sake of my own convenience not having to detour" 🙄 Yeah nah I blame them, I blame them entirely.
There's some philosophy here.

Even I'm getting so pissed off with the people not slowing down and splashing.
Idiots

Blind people wouldn’t see the massive build up of water like the guy who hard splashed him, they slammed the brakes once they hit the water so they didn’t see it coming, in which case their judgement is compromised or their vision is shit, either way get them off the road
The idiot drives on the pavement to avoid the water on a cluttered pavement with trees on a corner which could have pedestrians you don’t see or just drives through the water like it isn’t there, which can wreck the car and you just know they didn’t check their brakes after leaving the water to make sure they’re working properly so they’re both a dick who should be off the road but also driving a potentially unsafe vehicle,

@Sugar so you are saying it's funny being a piece of shit that doesn't care about the others? Even when they're working also for YOUR car?
People love to be a-holes, when it rains and i walk to the store there is always someone who speeds up in a puddle to splash me. But then there's also nice people who slow down or avoid the puddle. Doesn't matter if you're working or just enjoying life there will always be someone trying to ruin it for you. Can't let them though
@Sugar Well it is fun if the one I am splashing are my friends but when it comes to strangers especially a hard worker that’s helping you out nah bro that’s disgusting and if U think that’s fun ur a douche and I have nothing more to say to u
@@silverchelsea3433 I agree with you but it honestly sounds like you're projecting
Here is a guy who goes out in a storm to clear drains so his community can drive safely. I wish more folks cared about keeping their communities safe like you do!
It's brilliant too see people like post10 doing these sorts of things brilliant community's to live in were people go above and beyond to help you and your community out 😊
Clare Driscoll that’s y u pay taxes
I'd rather the flooded road, way more fun to drive thru
And some people thank him by splashing water on him. Very nice, all high and mighty in their warm dry cars.
@@AnarchyEnsues i do cover them lol
(10:35)..Why is this so satisfying to watch? Maybe because I spent 35 years as a NY building super and saw my share of clogged up drains, inside and OUT..Good on you, man....
He literally walks outside in the rain, with a rake and starts unclogging the drains in the street for FUN- F U N. Wow, this is a true legend, and he’s doing it by himself.
Because sometimes hard work IS fun, rain is also fun, until too much comes
while you do nothing
I don't know if it's for fun, some people just don't want their neighborhood/city to be a shithole. I go out a few times a year and pick up litter from the roadside, not because I think 'this will be fun' but because I care about where I live.
@@MyOldTapes
But my point is I used to go out and pick up litter. There's just too much of it. These people throw it in their own yards, their own parking lots, their streets, and in the ditches near their homes. Absolutely disgusting. No respect for other people or themselves (their property).
In a democrat state where social politics is more important and the leftist media turn a blind eye.
When he said "Some people just don't care."
*damn, i felt that..*
I came looking for Big Whirpools..
But i Found a Hero...
I came looking for big whirlpools..
I found two holofans
I didn’t look for whirlpools but I found 3 holofans
Maybe 4 holofans?
Didn't expect to meet a matsuri fan here
More holofans pls ;)
For years, the walkway in my apartment with flood when it rained because it drains were clogged. Not a single person bothered to unclog the drains, including maintenance. I unclogged the drains about two years ago because I got tired of jumping over a puddle or having to walk directly in a puddle of water to get to my car. They have been unclogged ever since..
This guy is gonna be on the call of duty and unclogging the drains in the streets. I’ll commend him for doing that.
I can tell he's just genuinely loving whirlpools that's all
I love whirlpools that i always making whirlpools in a giant bucket by spinning my hands

Hes definitely in it for the whirlpools
We are simple creatures
He literally says "It's so fun!" at about 16:45. I agree.
Taking a long bath or shower after this must be the greatest most satisfying and relaxing thing of all time. You’re definitely best guy of this town sir.
unless his shower drain is clogged, too
i can feel the feeling youre going for and mannn is it a good feeling
Mad respect to the man unclogging and the people that are slowing down for him.
Right! I'm soo disapointed by those people who don't even bother to slow down.
@@monochrome1219 Inconsiderate bunch of lowlifes
The town should give you an award for clearing up the roads when it rains. You should wear some type of neon safety vest & maybe get some fishing waders so people take care when you're cleaning the sewers & grates! Thanks for caring about your town!!!
