    I owe so much to Jo! As someone who knew nothing about kids, her teachings showed me how to babysit well. I'm so proud of how well those kids grew up & that I could be a part of their lives.

      I began training my boy to learn to read at 14 months. Despite the fact that I am uncertain concerning teaching my son how to read at 14 months, I made a decision to do it right and also made use of this reading tip. He is able now read through a whole book without my assistance at two years and four months. . Get this guide by Google. The program’s name is *4ChildrenReading. Com*

    I still think half an hour of technology is an unrealistic goal, I'm a single mum who does activities with my daughter every day. My daughter spends about an hour and a half using technology, either her tablet or the TV. And I need that time when cooking or doing dishes ect

      Katarina Baird what did kids do before technology? I grew up READING! I read for hrs every day. If you put away the technology and the tv and fill their lives with books, you will be giving them the best gift of their lives. I allowed my kids 1 hr on the computer every day, and I thought that was too much! They rarely watched tv...it is all garbage.

      @@lessehead whilst I do agree with you, it's a different generation now - it would be the equivalent of saying "why can't they use an abacus or wheel with a stick? My kids did years ago". That's not to insult you at all, but just to highlight the generational difference there is now, and to when we were kids

    • @lessehead
      @lessehead 5 лет назад +3

      StueySquarepants Reading never went out of style. As a teacher, kids gain absolutely nothing from computer games. They gain a lifetime of skills by reading. Books are the best gift you can give them. If you create tech-free time every evening...no phones, computers, or video games, of course they will moan and groan at first, but you are the parent. You know what’s best. Create time when the whole family drops what they’re doing and reads. Be an example! The best indicator of educational success is the amount of time spent reading. Kids need the same language skills now that they did 60 yrs ago. That will never change. All this time wasted on technology is contributing in a huge way to the dumbing down of America.

    I find her approach somewhat rigid and lacking in compassion. She forgets that a child is not going to be a child forever! And she has the same strategies for all parents and kids, as if they are monolithic entities!

      I'm sorry you feel that way. Jo has touched many lives and I learned to babysit by taking notes during her TV show; I even taught the kids parents how to discipline without spanking, & how to spend real quality time with their children, which diminished any naughty behavior. It was great for all of us, & in return their parents taught me basic home skills, like cooking!
      The kids I babysat grew up to be kind & successful adults & I would still give my life to protect them. I'm honored that they still send letters & cried when they gave me the award they earned for volunteering.
      I'm not saying Jo's methods are perfect or that there aren't equally good alternative-methods for childcare, but she was vital to my personal growth.

      @@o0Avalon0o Glad it worked for you. That was just my opinion. One of the episodes that made me come to this opinion was one where a toddler is crying, wanting to be picked up. Jo insists the mother not oblige the baby to break the habit. I felt bad for the baby. How long is the child going to be that young? Kids grow up way too fast!

    • @lessehead
      @lessehead 5 лет назад +4

      Lacking in compassion? Have you seen the behavior of these children? They act like monsters! A parent’s job is to teach their children proper behavior, how to listen and respect others, how to learn, socialize and act like human beings! So many parents are afraid to discipline their kids! The parent is in charge, not the child. If you don’t teach your child what the word “NO” means and how to treat those around them, it is neglect. Jo is only teaching parents how to do their job, something they should already know. The ignorance of these parents is appalling.

      @@lessehead because you're so perfect right? you know the answer to everything, right? you're such a condescending little shit, it's apalling. not every single parent is going to know EXACTLY how to raise a child, especially first time parents that have never raised a kid before. they don't come with an instruction manual. and not everyone is as all knowing and perfect as your pompous ass is. furthermore, the parents on this show come to jo because theyve already tried everything they know how to do, and feel like they have nowhere else to turn. the very fact they are reaching out for help shows that they have acknowledged their own inability and lack of understanding, which is why theyve asked jo to help and teach them. you coming here and spewing your venom just shows you to be the heartless snake you are. instead of beating other people down because you think youre better than them, and their just a bunch of fools, you should be like jo, and teach them, be positive and uplifting, and help them feel like they're not helpless fuck ups. maybe then we'd start to see some good change in this world. if you have nothing better to offer than your salty attitude, then go find something else to do, and leave this comment section alone. have a nice day
