This performance is from his concert at the Hammersmith Odeon, London on 24th December 1974, filmed for the BBC TV show The Old Grey Whistle Test.
The source video I used to create this one is here: mega.nz/file/j...
That was the best-quality upload featuring this performance I could find online. I have faded the clip in from black at the beginning and faded it out to black at the end. I have also raised the volume level to make it twice as loud, so that it matches the volume level of the majority of music videos. I have also cropped the edges of the video picture, just enough to clean them up. I have also added optional subtitles for the lyrics.
This song was written by Elton John (music) and Bernie Taupin (lyrics). The original studio version was produced by Gus Dudgeon, and was released in 1974. According to Wikipedia, that single went to No. 1 in Canada, and reached No. 2 in the USA, No. in New Zealand, No. 13 in Australia, No. 16 in his native UK, No. 17 in Ireland, and No. 30 in the Netherlands, and did not chart in Belgium, Germany or Switzerland. No other territories are mentioned.

An official presentation of the lyrics to this song is to be found printed in the liner notes of the 1974 album "Caribou", and a picture of the relevant page of the CD booklet can be seen here: www.discogs.co...
Presented below and as optional subtitles in the video is my own transcript of the lyrics for this live version of the song, for which I have used that official presentation as a guide.
    LYRICS
"Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" - Live in London, 1974
    - Elton John
(Words Bernie Taupin, Music by Elton John)
I can't light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired, and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life
Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blind by the light
Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me
I can't find, oh, the right romantic line
See me once and see the way I feel
Don't discard me just because you think I mean you harm
But these cuts I have, they need love to help them heal
Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me
Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
    Oh
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me
    Don't let it go down
    Don't let it go down
