It’s amazing how much of Elton’s music speaks to the heart. I was in a horrible 14 year marriage. I tried everything to get him to love me. I read and applied countless books on saving your marriage and wooing your husband who fell out of love. I kept dying inside, losing myself until I was just a faded colorless reflection of him. Then, he left me for a woman half our age, right when his son turned 18 so he no longer needed my financial help because he was paying substantial financial support. This song reminds me of my marriage. I’m Standing is the song that became my anthem to recover from my marriage.

Every time I hear this song, I think of seeing him in concert at Dodger Stadium in October 1975 (the Sunday show). He and the band did a very long version of this. It was still light when the song began, but by the time the song was ending, it was dark. As the last chord faded out, all the stadium lights came on. It was amazing, beautiful. Perfect.

Elton and Bernie were a pair given to us by God (in my opinion) because all the songs like Your Song, Don't Let the Sun, Rocket Man, Daniel, Candle in the Wind and on and on all speak to the heart and touch us and bring back memories like few other songs do, but Elton/Bernie seemed to have a knack for doing it over and over, Someone Saved my Life, Funeral for a Friend, Levon....... He (they) gave us so much.

Elton John is a great music writer and singer I'm 59 years old and been listening to him since I was 10 years old he was a big part of my life I was TRULY blessed by his music. I saw a show where they gave him the instructions to a washing machine (True!!) then asked him to write a tune to the words writen. He did it on the spot and it was HILARIOUS but it was also GOOD. as a child...I was 8 or 9 when Elton came around, I could literally feel the passion and pain of some of his slow songs...That is what truly makes a an artist, our world is not set up to express as much as we would like to, so music has always been a special forum to let loose. I started listening to Elton John when I was 12 years old. My 16 year old neighbor introduced him to me. I love piano music and he played an album for me. I was hooked. This was a long time before people talked about gays. I didn't know it for a long time. He was once married to a woman so we didn't know. All we knew was his friend Bernie Taupin wrote words down, mailed them to Elton, Elton put music and melody to it and made beautiful songs!

This song takes me back to the 70s when I was in the hospital. My mom couldn't stay with me and couldn't go back and forth to California and back to Mexico. So, a nurse at the hospital offer to take care of me and I ended up staying with her and her family. They had a little girl around my age and she loved Elton John, That was my first time listening to his music, and I was hooked! Don't let the sun go down on me, followed me all the way to my teens, where I spend it in foster homes. I'm older now and no matter how many years has past, everytime I hear this song, my heart cries because it takes me back to a time where circumstances out of my control forced me to grow up fast and build a thick skin at young age, to protect myself.

Every time I hear this song, I think of seeing him in concert at Dodger Stadium in October 1975 (the Sunday show). He and the band did a very long version of this. It was still light when the song began, but by the time the song was ending, it was dark. As the last chord faded out, all the stadium lights came on. It was amazing, beautiful. Perfect.

I saw a show where they gave him the instructions to a washing machine (True!!) then asked him to write a tune to the words writen. He did it on the spot and it was HILARIOUS but it was also GOOD. As a teen in the 70s I was always filled with amazement over the incredible songs, powerhouse singing and over the top performances. We've been so gifted to have this in our world.
as a child...I was 8 or 9 when Elton came around, I could literally feel the passion and pain of some of his slow songs...That is what truly makes a an artist, our world is not set up to express as much as we would like to, so music has always been a special forum to let loose. I cried a lot with Elton and that's just plain ok :0).. As an adult I love all the quality music out there. God Bless.

Man where did the years go ? I was 19 when this song came out and having a ball living in North Charleston South Carolina. I just wish I was the man that I am today life would have been much more fun, and more full filling.

I started listening to Elton John when I was 12 years old. My 16 year old neighbor introduced him to me. I love piano music and he played an album for me. I was hooked. This was a long time before people talked about gays. I didn't know it for a long time. He was once married to a woman so we didn't know. All we knew was his friend Bernie Taupin wrote words down, mailed them to Elton, Elton put music and melody to it and made beautiful songs!

I remember listening to this song during some of my darkest days. Never thought I'd see the light at the end of the tunnel but things got better. Not perfect but I've salvaged some of the opportunities, and potential I never thought possible.
Archie Williams bought me here. He reintroduced a song I grew up with but now I see it in a different light. Funny how lyrics can take on new meanings as your life changes. God bless Archie and the many innocent Archies that sit in the dark.

This song takes me back to the 70s when I was in the hospital. My mom couldn't stay with me and couldn't go back and forth to California and back to Mexico. So, a nurse at the hospital offer to take care of me and I ended up staying with her and her family. They had a little girl around my age and she loved Elton John, That was my first time listening to his music, and I was hooked! Don't let the sun go down on me, followed me all the way to my teens, where I spend it in foster homes. I'm older now and no matter how many years has past, everytime I hear this song, my heart cries because it takes me back to a time where circumstances out of my control forced me to grow up fast and build a thick skin at young age, to protect myself.
