There's something in George that has kept me from taking my own life after my son died. Nathaniel meant everything to me. But George's lyrics give me strength that I didn't know I had. I think I've listened to this song a 1000 times, and every time George sings "Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Elton John", I get the chills. Truly one of the best musical pairings of all time. When we lost George, we did indeed lose a legend. He was one of our best.

I was at this show, filmed in Chicago in October, 1991. Great memory right now.
It's SO POWERFUL watching this, so SO many times on You Tube over the years, and just now in a completely different light .. can't possibly express how sad I am (tears in my eyes) .. it must have been completely off the scale to have been there, in the room, as it unfolded, with all those people .. and for Elton to walk out on stage .. did you have any idea that was going to happen? Thanks for sharing. I do remember reading that this was filmed in Chicago. :-))) ... (To George .. so, SO sad .. love you forever ... )
No, I did not have any idea. In fact, my friend and I had tickets around the 30th row but when we got to our seats, they were blocked off with cameras and filming equipment. We told the usher standing right there that those were supposed to be our seats. He just smiled at us and told us to follow him as he walked us way up to about the 10th row where our new seats would be. We were pretty excited as you can imagine and asked him what was going on. He said they were "filming something special tonight." I will say this was one of the absolute loudest concerts I have ever attended and especially once George announced Elton, it was so deafeningly loud that honestly, we could not even hear what they were singing after that point. They must have really toned down the crowd noise substantially to make this video. Exact date was October 20, 1991.

I’ve seen Elton John twice here in Honolulu. Closest I’ve been to George Michael was wearing out TWO audio cassettes of album Faith while renovating my sailboat for 18 hrs a day, over three days! Yes--audio cassettes played on my Sony “boom box."

I snuck it into my house, 'cause if my mom had known I could play "I Want Your Sex" on my boombox, I would have been grounded for life. I played that cassette tape until it broke at 19.

Sorry for your loss as that must be tough. I actually live about 800 meters from where he used to live, people still come and bring flowers to the front of his house here in goring on thames.

Elton has said that nowadays, when he performs this song, a picture of George rolls down over the back wall of the stage to honor his memory. They were close friends, and he says that he misses him every day.

I was born in 1982. From the first time I laid eyes on George Michael, as a little girl, I was enamored. My mom said I used to carry his albums around everywhere and just talk to his picture.
There was something so beautiful about his voice, his smile....his eyes.
When he was forced to come out about his sexuality, it saddened me that he had to hide that part of himself for so long. I was 16 years old at the time. It didn't make me love him any less or think he was any less beautiful or have any less of a crush on him... If anything, it made me love him more❤
The visible respect between these two extremely talented people; oh it is really something.
We've lost Freddie, George, Bowie, for God's sake Elton hang around for a few more years the world needs you and your music!
They sang the hell out of this song, I never get tired of watching this, I get goosebumps each time, I'm glad I got the privilege of watching this.

One of the GREATEST performances of all time. Sadly George Michael is gone and he is missed by the world...I am sure Elton was hit by loosing a friend and another legend like MIchael.
If you haven't already, PLZ watch the movie Rocketman! It's fabulous, but a lot of sadness. I never knew how much he'd been through. I had his Goodbye Yellowbrick Road album. Listened to it many times in the late 70s and early 80s.
As a 26 year old mother of a 3 year old boy, I will try my best to make sure this kind of music stays alive and is never forgotten.

I am 64 and I didn't think the younger generation listened to 60s and 70s music but from what I've seen on you tube comments you do listening to it I am blessed that I was born in 1954 and experienced those times and music and I will never ever take it for granted but I say good on you and keep searching for all the old songs on RUclips
