As Alexandra said, the inmates do it. Most jails have a “trustee” system. When she shouts for the person to clean the cell she actually shouts “trustee clean this cell” (which is annoying because they have a name but hey ho 🤷♀️)

But we cannot have it both ways. We cannot say that those with mental illnesses have the right to refuse being institutionalized (even for a short time), and then say that they should be getting help. The help some need is long term care, whether they like it or not. Someone did a study that many homeless people are mentally ill and would rather be on the streets than being helped in a hospital or outpatient setting. In other words, in a free society you cannot force people to get care, even drug addicts, unless they commit a crime and are jailed.

Having been in jail I’ll give you some useful advice. Don’t cause anymore trouble, if you sit there and mind your own business most judges and magistrates are going to try to get you home. See they don’t want you rotting in there if you’re a contributing member of society. I got nailed for a bunch of charges, magistrate realized she instigated it and instead of asking for 25,000 bail on a 250,000 case he asked for 2500 on one 50,000 charge. They dumped me in there around 7:30 pm and I was walking out the sally port by 10:30 pm. Longest 3 hours of my life and still triggers PTSD
My ex wife was banging her married divorce attorney. Good chance she was screwing the states attorney as well. Got me thrown in jail a couple times over “claims” of garbage.
