A wake in a no wake zone sounds wrong to me.
It is definitely wrong...if there is damage to the stalled vessel or the bridge, the yacht caption is responsible .
I always thought that a boat's captain was liable for any damage that their vessel's wake caused. In this case if that was a no wake zone and the disabled boat was able to get the boats name then whoever handles law enforcement at that location should have been called. with that being said, the disabled vessel's occupants should have been wearing their PFD's
Didn't see him or didn't care . Not my prob & im really late wherever the Hell im going, mentality . Not that in a expert , I only pushed a wooden 29' Ketch on a 13' Whaler from the mouth of the River to Nutis Marine Yard because it's motor gave out .
There is a sign right there reading, Manatee zone-idle speed- no wake. Captain of larger boat is responsible for any damage caused by his wake!
Haulover Inlet seems to be a magnet for incompetent captains/ boat owners
If no USCG license than they are just the boat operator in my opinion

Loss of power = immediate drop of anchor. One of the first things I learnt as a rookie captain at the age of 10!
LOL many a boat are on the bottom because the anchor is wedged in deep on a fast incoming tide pull's the bow right under you don't anchor in a place like Haulover or Boca Grande pass in SW Florida, it's easy being an arm-chair captain
That sounds right to me but I don’t think you can anchor in the inlet, even though the boat is disabled.

Yeah I noticed that from the drone footage from another video. I was wondering why the sea was so green at Haulover. Looking it up, apparently it's because of microscopic algae.

This video showed power boaters that are inconsiderate, rude, unhelpful, selfish, ignorant and arrogant. Then the reckless bunch. But the water by the bridge is beautiful.

The vessel was slowing down you can clearly see him come off plane at the bridge which is where the no wake zone starts. Also he prob thought the small boat was fishing around the bridge. I’ve been to haulover and many small boats fish near the bridge. The Capt of the fishing boat made very littte indication he was in distress. Did he sound his horn or stand on the bow and wave his arms back and forth…nope.

I was there 3 hrs ago..... When you go out the sign on the entrance to the under bridge channel states - RESUME safe or normal OPERATION.... But obviously if cap of the yacht saw the boat in distress - shall slow down ...

The engine may be broken in that first clip, but you know what's not? The anchor that's on the bow of his boat.
If your vessel looses power especially in a pass the absolute first thing you do is toss the hook

Absolutely unacceptable not to slow down. The wake was a major contributor. The other captain should have offered assistance.

Inexperienced captain always learning here. If he were to drop his anker would he be at risk of capsizing or something? Why would he just anker in after realizing where he was without power?
By the time the anchor took hold, the boat would likely been in the pilings anyway. The best option would have been to throw out the fenders just saying. PS mount a couple inboard per side and deploy when necessary...

I guess the owner of the boat with engine problems doesn`t have an anchor.
Two things: 1) why is it that only responsible Captains slow down under a bridge? BTW he did slow-down after he cleared the bridge but, as we all know, the wake you experience now was created 100 yds earlier. 2) why wasn't he aware that the boat was not under way (actually dead in the water) and he should have rendered assistance? I hope he sees this and realizes he should have done things a bit differently.

Having 18 people on a 28’ boat (half of them intoxicated-especially the one at the helm) isn’t exactly conducive to safe boating.

Yes the other boat should ha v e probably slowed, but the other boat was not using his horn or signaling he was in distress. He also did not put out a anchor.

The Captain on the bigger boat should have paid more attention and possibly helped. Hitting the side walls or bridge supports is no good but without power you're in real trouble there. And, you don't let anyone on the bow in that kind of water. What's wrong w/people? Nevermind!!

If you can’t notice there is a boat having trouble at a sensitive location and a fellow captain signaling you shouldn’t be on the water .

It appears there is a problem with the engine in the first video; or the Captain would have pushed the throttle forward to avoid the pilings? On my Baja, I have two fenders permanently mounted per side that can be thrown outboard immediately at the correct height to protect the widest portion of the hull; which also provides for quick launches, recoveries or emergencies. PS Watching your videos two things stand out. There is a lot of money in FL and an egregious lack of boating skills on the part of many especially the jet ski crowd...

The vessel under way has the right of way, The disabled vessel being less than twelve meters was not required to display any signals but, if disagreeing with the underway vessels actions should signal with five short horn blast. If radio equipped the disabled vessel should have broadcast its situation.
I could have sworn I saw someone wearing a lifejacket, but then I watched it again...🙄
