It doesn't take much to find yourself in a world of trouble at Haulover Inlet. Let us know your thoughts on this one? Also, where is everyone watching from today? 🌎
Austin Texas
Opelika, Alabama. Roll Tide!!!
I'm not good enough to know how much was hull design and how much was the skipper knowing his job; but that Baglietto was just calmly telling Haulover to eff off.
That Capt should have watched your vids before trying that It amazes me to watch how ignorant some people are I am from New Orleans and have seen someone get thrown out a flat boat going through some flood gates during a strong tide they found his bod 2 weeks later I dont mess around in the water Peace to you
"Captain" (and I say that lightly) should be pulled over and arrested for lack of life jackets on young children. Period.
Don't you just love how the life jackets are strapped to the covers poles and not strapped onto the kids. Some people are just clueless.
Where is FWC at? Lol what a joke
And the KIDS get them and distribute them instead of the adults lmfao. They're smarter at 10 years old lol
People? Beasts disguised as Neanderthals.
I have 50+ years experience in boating and I have a Master’s License with the Coast Guard. And… I own a 28 ft. pontoon boat with a 350 hp Mercury Verado. Pontoon boats are not designed for open water, they do not belong there, they should only be in protected waters. The problem with pontoon boats is that they dive, the bow dives in turbulent waters and sometimes in perfectly calm waters if the boat is not loaded and handled correctly. One of the reasons they so easily dive is because they are notoriously under powered. Not enough weight and power on the stern. The 350 hp on my boat enables me to keep the bow up because of its power and weight. And the tilt of the motor must be adjusted properly to keep the bow up. I don’t have had a problem with my boat diving because of the reasons stated. This gives me a lot more flexibility in turbulent waters which gives onlookers who are having difficulty confused looks on their faces. I recently captained a boat for a group of 12 in an under powered pontoon boat the same size as mine in a coastal bay. The 15 knot winds out of the east practically turned that boat into a submarine. I can be in the same conditions with my boat and not have a problem because of more weight and power on the stern of the boat. My advice for those who want to be a little more adventurous, get a boat no less than 25’ in length or more, and put the biggest motor the boat is rated for. And stay out of open waters.
Captain Mark
350 on a pontoon - sounds Huge.
You seem like someone who could make a great RUclips channel to explain exactly what you wrote and show other tips/tricks and safety precautions. I'd be your first subscriber!
@@marty906
There was one pontoon that had 1000hp and could cruise at 100mph...
A pontoon boat isn't a boat, it's a pontoon/barge.
Hi những chiếc tàu rất đẹp như vô dụng trước sóng to đến đây nhìn tàu vietnam này
Hauliver is no place for a pontoon boat.
I would not even call this a boat, more like a motorized floating terrace. Crazy to even consider attempting to get out in the open water with this...
Many others feel the same way. Why do you think people keep bringing pontoons to haulover?
Most of what this captain error. A tritoon should be able to get through those waves
You know they’re amateurs when they leave the fenders hanging out! No life jackets for the kids is just plan stupid. That’s a Florida boater for ya!
There are pontoon boats and pontoon boats... this is the former and should be in someone's swimming pool.
That pontoon boat has no business being at Haulover Inlet and those kids should all have life jackets on!!! Bad on ya cap for putting your passengers in harms way.
Dad should be cited for child endangerment !!!!!!!!!!
and Mom
💯 this is just dumb. No child should be on a boat without a life jacket on.
Honestly, EVERY adult on board should be cited!
Afterall, how many irresponsible grownup's can you put on a 25' pontoon boat with children on it?
That Italian boat looks very similar to a WW2 PT boat. I LIKE IT !!!
YES!!!! I’m not much of a boater, and was trying to figure out why I thought that boat looked familiar. That’s it! A PT boat!! This is an absolutely fantastic looking boat.
They made the MV13 and the MV19 to celebrate the shipyard’s military heritage. The design recalls that of the MAS, fast torpedo boats used by the Italian Royal Navy during the two world wars.
And the skipper is matching his speed to the incoming waves (kind of surfing them). Kept the boat stable and safe. The best skipper of the bunch.
That thing was badass. Looked like it had a little pool/hot tub in the back that was covered.
Man.. In my state all children must have life jackets on at all times. Glad they made it out
In Florida, children under 6 must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved PFD on any boat under 26 feet. Should this captain face a fine, at least?
@@WavyBoats That rules is grossly inadequate. It means a child between 6 and 12 can wander freely on a vessel, without a PFD. Kids in that age group are no more capable of battling waves that big, than a 95 year old man. Who ever made the rules obviously doesn't have kids or brains.
@@WavyBoats Reckless endangerment, prison time, n redo boating school (ik, he never went in e first place). The one child was 3 or 4, screaming in terror bc he was left alone on e bow, no PFD: this captain is a moron at best, malicious at worst.
Father of the year
@@bradygerding3235seems like the average Florida dad to me
That Baglitetto is nice.. it looks like it's the perfect boat for Haulover.. Captian seemed to know what he was doing, it was the smoothest ride in the video!
The kids are smarter than the dad!
@1:17 based on this video as evidence, this kid frantically screaming with no vest should automatically get this guy fined and licensed revoked !!!
Maybe in Europe that would happen but not in USA
What license?
remember kids, when the water gets rough make sure your boat is wearing a life jacket even if its yours.
None of the young kids had a PFD on. That is just wreckless.
In Florida, children under 6 must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved PFD on any boat under 26 feet. Should this captain face a fine, at least?
It's criminal.
@@WavyBoats The "captain" needs a hurtful fine at least!
@@WavyBoats For my boat and for most powered/sailing vessels owners I know around here up near Lake Erie (open water), the general rule is everyone under 16 must be wearing at PFD. By law, In Ohio, Child PFD Requirements [ORC 1547.24]
No person shall operate or permit to be operated any vessel under 18 feet long with a child less than 10 years of age on board unless the child is wearing a PFD. The PFD must be:
U.S. Coast Guard approved Type I, II, III, or V;
in good and serviceable condition;
of appropriate size;
securely attached.
Water cop could have scored big time with that pontoon boat! Gives a new meaning to "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic"! LOL. Even with the Hatteras, people on board had to hold their drinks.
Hull flagged boat looked like a PT boat
Man that thing looks like a tank, pretty cool
I like it.
That Baglietto MV13 @ 4:33 is a sweet looking boat...kinda reminds me of an updated boat for McHale's Navy
It is actually based on Italian motor torpedo boats. I'm not normally a fan of "superyachts" (although this one is small, Baglietto is a SY builder) but this one is completely awesome on the exterior. They are also building (or have built) a 19-meter version.
@@jrcrawford4 my first thought was the Baglietto was based on a navy design. It handled the following seas beautifully, and the captain was in tune with the boat, knew exactly what he was doing.
Wrong boat in the wrong place with an incompetent captain and too many occupants. Scary.
Runnin’ with fenders out is at least one demerit 😂
One demerit for each fender
That Baglietto looks so cool. It reminds me of a PT Boat.
When I was a kid in the 1980's and we went on a boat ride with my grandparents, us kids always had to wear lifejackets 100% of the time, even if we didn't like the way they felt on us.
What is it that people do not understand about needing the weight off the bow and in the back of the boat? You don’t need to be a seasoned seafarer to figure it out.
Boat is overloaded. Amazing the amount of times I see people with a boat being careless and hazardous to their passengers and others.
Smartest object in that video was the lifejacket wearing pontoon boat!
The pontoon gave me Duck Tour vibes- death by negligence...
Pull down any side shades/screens and you've got yourself a perfect deathtrap.
The captain really should be cited...
Newbies taking a pontoon into the ocean reminds me of seals leaving the island while sharks are patrolling the beach just waiting for a meal
Seven kids? They’ll never miss a couple. No big deal.
Those kids should definitely wear the life jackets the whole time
Crazy how complete strangers often care more about a child's safety than their own parents.
I agree .. dude made it back fine .. bunch of narks
Pontoon: let me count the ways this driver (not captain) puts these kids in danger. Baglietto: grate looking boat.... this guy is a real captain. Nice and smooth.
On first video it's obvious the "captain" is not the sharpest knife in the kitchen...
The Baglietto ist the perfect A-Team-Tool, looks more like a Navy speed boat than a recreational yacht!
Answer to your captain question @ 2:20 = yes take the family to the park and toss a frisbee instead
Should be charged with criminal negligence, putting those kids lives at risk
That footage should be able to get the captain ticketed.
Here on the left coast, California, it's anyone under 13 years old is required to wear a PFD (life jacket). I like anyone under 16 years old, or anyone who isn't a strong swimmer. Anyone who asks for a PFD gets one. There's always a Type IV throwable PFD available. I operate in sheltered waters. Boating is supposed to be fun, not lethal.
Contrary to what out Wind-bag Governor says, there's not much policing that goes on here..
There is a ton of policing on boat safety regulations.... But the cops can't be everywhere, especially when there are a lot of boats out.
The Baglietos hull and deck look very similar to a WWII U.S. PT boat.
I just watched a stork with baby storks video…now it all makes sense when watching Haulover videos.
Baglietto MV13 looks like the Italian version of a boating world 'Humvee'.
Lovin’ me that “Killa Whala”!
the baglietto looks like a ww2 motor torpedo boat and seems to handle well lol
The Baglietto hull reminds me of a U-Boat design.
I know I must have mentioned this a bunch already but I love watching these vids. I used to go out here too often and it can be scary for even some seasoned captains.
The Baglietto MV13 @ 4:33 shows the lineage of Italian boat design stretches way way back...
you know, to Roman times....
and that particular boat appears to have great sea keeping abilities
as well as looking "military" cool....
It really does have that military look to it, especially with the dark green colouring
That gray boat captain knew how to ride the waves instead of fighting them.
He is not a captain! He is just someone driving the boat! Stop calling these people captains! It takes years of training and documentation to become a certified USCG Captain!
Last time I checked, even pontoon boats have trim. Wow.
800 horsepower doesn't seem like enough in the Baglietto, it looks like it could handle double that. Anyway, that thing has a serious PT boat look to it, pretty cool.
Fenders hanging off the side of the boat while running is always the first sign
As always thank you 🫡🤩
His most serious mistake was getting that ridiculous pontoon boat :DDD
4:50 - looks like a baby PT boat, and the captain handles it well. Surf don’t stuff!
Authodox massive stepping out in the pontoon. Respect, crewed like a well oiled machine. Although a tad fool hardy they pulled it back, hats, head scarfs and floating people carrier all intact. Happy days
The Captain ? Glad the pontoon boat returned to where they came from
This Larson Escape is actually coastal rated...but that means intracoastal, lagoons, bays... not rough passes. It also assumes you know what you're doing.
Very lucky it was a calm day
Whaler captain knew what he was doing
I always click "like" before I even watch the video. And I've never been disappointed!
Where was the life jacket for that little one?
The main theme in every video... dont underestimate Haulover inlet. 😊
The Hatteras is the best hull design in this video… if you want to stay high and dry in larger swells. That foredeck doesn’t even get misted with water!!!! That’s a classic hull design meant for these inlet conditions. Slow and boring, but sturdy and strong.
Boating reminds ne of racing motocross.. its about timing and rhythm.....
That’s crazy in Arkansas the law is anyone under 16 on a boat has to have a life jacket on at all times or you get a big ticket
when the baby is smarter than the parents..........
Pontoon boats have no business at haulover except for on the calm points during the day.
Why these videos are so addictive?
Love the Hatteras.... Classic beauty !
Italian boat looks like some military boat, love it!
Need to make people go through a real boat safety course when buying a boat, not the bullshit capt course online.
In nj you have to attend an 8 hour in person class. But no telling where Captain Ron here is from
No parent should put their children in a boat without a life jacket. How could they have saved the 7 children if they had taken on enough water to sink the boat? Impossible!! 😱
The amount of people without life jackets is insane
1:22
Parents: 7 children are too much. Let’s do some boating in the Haulover with the kids 😄
in the UK , we have a saying Mutton dressed up as lamb ref boat one
That Baglietto reminds me of a US WWII PT Boat.
I nominate this captain for a Darwin Award
The fact that this is my principal is crazy
What dis you do on Sunday?
I took the family out to the water and scared the crap out of them😂
Italian boat look like a PT boat 👍🏻
At least the boat itself will be safe because it is wearing 6 life jackets😔
Wow that was scary.
I’m always amazed that when people are in some type of difficulty boats like this boat, sinking or fires or plane crashes they’re more worried about cell phones, purses, and water bottles then saving their lives
I’m guessing , they’re hanging out at the Haulover sand bar, and the kids are like” hey Dad, let’s head out the inlet and get on Wavyboats” and Dad’s like, “ Ok, we’ll just do a U-turn when we get out there.
glad they made it ok. the best intentioned family thing, somebody should have told them.
Nice
great video boats
Pontoon boat should have a warning about large swell at the helm... No matter how many times you see it , they don't seem to learn
A buddy is a commercial diver near there. He make $20,000 to $30,000 a year for the 1 or 2 times he is called to recover bodies from that area. Its nice side hustle for only a few hours or work.
Is very dangerous life jacket helped me a lot on a boat crash
Baglietto looks reminiscent of the WW2 pt boat hull
Pontoon captain probably thought with the reasonably calm waters he'd be fine but just goes to show even calm conditions at this inlet is too much for a pontoon to handle.
That one boat just looked like a recommissioned PT boat.
Darwin award contender videos
A salty mariner always has fenders out while underway in rough waters. When the boat sinks fenders and coolers will be the only flotation available.
What was he thinking even trying to bring that boat out as a minimum.
Treat these conditions like a jet ski - life jackets ON.
Maroons driving with fenders out. Mark of a dip stick !
Hi những chiếc tàu rất đẹp như vô dụng trước sóng to đến đây nhìn tàu vietnam này hihi
1:57 What the need to do is right there in the name of the boat.
The 1st clip is an easy answer, trim the motor out to raise the bow.
Outta the way son, outta the way.
I really wish law-enforcement would hand out tickets to these people based on these videos
