Personally, I prefer the vintage warm look of the Tudor Black Bay 58.
Only wish it came with a micro-adjustment bracelet and then it would be perfect.
And drilled lugs... I love drilled lugs!
I know Rolex is more desirable and more expensive but the Tudor Black Bay just looks better.
I know... I’m just worried people are starting to realize and but the time I save $4,000 a new one will cost $10k...

Obviously the Rolex is superior, but I really enjoy owning the BB58 more. I love the proportions, coin edge bezel, matte finishing, and snowflake hands.

Thats the reason it has kept me from buying a sub, have met many a d bag that was wearing one. However as my taste for watches has been changing and after owning an Explorer 1 and BB58, I've been thinking about selling both and just have a no date sub.
@@xekret Exact same sentiment for the no date sub as well. Only I would be selling the Heritage BB and an Omega Sea Master ref 2254, probably go for it on the grey market or Chrono24.
The bb58 is indeed perfect. The design is so clean, the size is perfect for almost any wrist. The submariner is flashier for sure, but that's exactly why the 58 looks nicer.

@@BrandonMenancio both are definitely very nice, the submariner is an icon. But something about the dial, the hands, the bezel just works for me on the bb58. I love the vintage look. My favorite watch in my collection at the moment is the seiko spb149, it's also a vintage inspired piece, and i absolutely love it. I guess i have a thing for that style of watches. But i can't argue that the submariner is nice. I think the two tone sub, with a blue dial looks absolutely amazing. I would prefer it without the date.

Another thing worth mentioning is the second hand price differences between the two. I picked up my Bb58 &for $2,500 but a two year old sub might set me back $12,000, which is massive!
Sub is a more timeless design, but smaller size and less flash makes Bb58 an awesome watch in its own right!

I just purchased the BB58 in blue as my first really nice watch, & it is indeed an excellent watch! I heard that the new Ranger’s bracelet fits the BB58, & I may explore this option. It addresses where the BB58 bracelet seems to come up short.
If you are willing to go the extra mile, you can polish the sides of the ranger bracelet and have it looking as if it were OEM for the 58 which is exactly how the black bay should have been from the very beginning, absolutely amazing.
If Tudor didn't intentionally exclude the quick-adjust clasp from the blue/black 58, it would be selling out SO much that it's other variants would barely be moving. Slightly infuriating, really but I'm lucky that the bracelet fits well on my wrist as is.
What a great video man! Something about Tudor that I love is it's one of those watches that if you know you know. Simple as that. Tudor being the poor man's Rolex is so outplayed and just no longer true!

I think having the BB58 and Sub Date would be good for the collection. BB58 as a daily and Sub for casual and events and it’s nice feel to have a piece with date and a piece with no date.

I'm in the same boat. For the longest time I maintained that the aluminum bezels had an attractive retro look and aged in a cool way. But after experiencing both Rolex ceramic and Omega liquid metal ceramic I had to reconsider. It is shiny and different. Bit it grew on me to the point where I prefer it.
EXACTLY what happened to me. Thank goodness I'm not the only one. The Sub felt way too shiny at first. Almost like fancy jewelry. Then...as I showed in the video lol...I saw myself in the mirror with it on and it was a wrap. It looked great! I definitely still love the BB58 though.
I’ve personally owned three submariners with three differed ref numbers and I always love rocking the Tudor for what ever reason.
I have both, the no date sub and the bb58, the clasp on rolex is better but I like the bb58 bracelet better. The thickness: the 58 fits so much better, the rolex is 300m and the back pushes out and just doesn't feel as good as the 58. You could wear the 58 all day and not even notice it was on but after a long day the rolex is just to much. The 58 is just better fit.. its that simple..
I do enjoy your style. Very entertaining. Subscribed. I tried Big Bro. He's a helluva guy. But he was too big and heavy and shiny for my taste. I decided to stick with Little Bro. He's the way Big Bro used to be before he grew up and got all pumped up in shiny designer clothes. I prefer the old school cool of Little Bro. But they're both perfect in their own way.
I personally just like the look of the BB58 more. The Submariner doesn’t do much for me. The fact that the BB58 is thousands less than a Sub or an Omega Seamaster makes it all the more compelling. If I were offered a free Sub or BB58, I’d choose the BB58 (barring the ability to resell, then I’d take the Sub and sell it.)
So glad you started with the clasp, the lack of a toolless microadjustment on the BB58 is my lone issue with it. Wish Tudor would update already and charge a bit more.
I wish they would too, but I doubt it. They’ll probably keep those cool features for big bro Rolex.

Thank you for this review. I honestly think the Tudor is a better watch, more elegant and more refined. Rolex owners may disagree but Tudor has dented the famous crown with this beautiful retro watch.
Nope, the clasp looks bad, the snowflake hand and faux rivets look bad. The only good thing about the Tudor is the size, apart from that it's a very boring watch.
I own both and love them. The Tudor Is more interesting to look at but like the Chanel owner said, catch your self in the mirror with the sub and it just fits so nice on the wrist.

Between the BB58 and the Submariner, my choice would be the Explorer (1). Can't afford that, so I'll stick with the Tudor for now 😁

Another stellar video, keep up the great work. Now that you have reviewed both the Bond Omega and the new Submariner. Which one would you buy? This is the question I am trying to answer for myself, but I guess the fact that the masses can't really hold of the Sub, there might not really be a choice.
Thanks Alan! I really like the Bond watch, but I think the fauxtina puts it below the Sub imo. Both are great watches. The Bond watch is way more comfortable though. But as you said, you might not have much of a choice in the matter lol
Nice review!! At this point I would still go with little brother or an older version of the big brother specifically the 5-digit version. The issue I have with the new Rolex is that it makes a spinner toy noise and it is 41mm which is out of my sweet spot. The 58 is better on multiple straps and far more versatile on straps and occasions.

Without a doubt. Yes, a buddy of mine let me borrow his because I have the 5 digit from 97. He actually told me about the spinner noise and I shook it around the wrist and heard the noise he mentioned. I think it has something to do with the new movement. My 5 digit doesn’t make that sound and it is a 40mm and rides low on the wrist. Actually does a better job on straps than the new one but it just isn’t a strap monster dare I say like the 58. Keep up the awesome work!!
The Rolex “a little harder to find” haha. For the the masses, easy to find but not at all easy to buy. Two great watches with a different feel. But....love the videos though. Can’t wait for more content 🍻

A glidelock on my bb58 would push it very close to perfect. I don’t like merc hands on the sub. Oh & my bb58 is running at 0.25 spd +.

Got the big bro a year a go, and tudor in august 20, you know what, i sold the rolex after 2 month pwning the bb58 and im still in honeymoon period with the bb58 until now (4mo) bought a lot strap for this strap wh*re, such a lovely watch!

Hey how is the difference in terms of quality and material between the two besides the Ceramic bezel? Can you tell the difference between Rolex 904l steal and the Tudor regular 316l steal? Nice video, I just subscribed.
I couldn’t tell the difference between the feel of the steel. I’d tell you about the look, but I don’t have the sub anymore.
I have both a heritage BB and a Sub. The steel feels the same, slightly different color on the 904L. The Tudor is built just as solid as the Rolex.

Get the Submariner and then the BB58 in Blue, perfect 2 watch collection.
I bought the little brother this week. It is very nice. And a european reality check: you can’t buy the new submariner from an AD. You just can’t. Impossible. Unless you’re a celebrity. Even then… and grey market prices are absurd.
Or, you can also try Black Bay Steel 79730. It has no gilt dial, equipped with a cyclop-less date (5612 movement as in Pelagos) and single red line text (just like Sub single red 1680). Using it with black RubberB strap, it’s my perfect daily wear

I do think the submariner is a perfect watch in many respects and is still king of the divers. I like the Seamaster as an alternative but the modern version is too large and thick and has lost the wearability factor (it's also a bit douchey like the sub) - so I chose the BB58 blue as my diver. Really enjoyed finding your channel this year, enjoy the holidays and I look forward to watching more great content next year.

Please tell me your wife was behind the camera for the wig shots! I agree with you on the bracelet/clasp. Perfection. It's so good I can't believe people would ever want to swap it out. Black Bays and Black Bay 58's are thick looking, but Submariner's have a bubbled caseback, so overall thicknesses are darn close. I'm really hoping to get a look at a 126610 in person soon, one of the guys in the BWSG managed to land one. Exceptional work as usual!
Chris! Thanks man! Dude, I couldn’t ask her too. I was too embarrassed lol. I could only do it in front of my tripod. That’s one thing I noticed about the sub...the thick bubble back. It sort of hides the thickness even though they’re probably similar to the original BB’s.

For a wrist of 6,1 inches what size do you recomend?
Depends on the watch and your preferences. Some people like chunky watches and some prefer something a little more svelte.
Of course the sub is better, apples and oranges. Can’t really compare something that is over double the price and I still prefer my bb58 to the sub.
The BB58 is awesome! Nothing wrong with comparing it to a sub though. Is the sub worth 3x the price of the BB58? That’s the neat comparison. Some say it is and some say they much prefer the BB58.

I love that when you see a black bay 58 it’s not in your face. It’s more of a if you know you know watch. You also know the black bay 58 is real. I mean who wears a fake black bay 58. Is that even a thing?
As a former Black Bay owner, the bracelet/clasp is for sure its weak point. Which is why I switched to the Pelagos, its bracelet blows the BBs out of the water. Obviously the sub does too.
I love the Pelagos. I wish they made it a tiny bit smaller though.
