Bob spoke to my very SOUL in this episode with that rant. I cannot empathize more! I HATE how impatient and entitled people are. Just… Just WAIT! GOD!!!
For real. This happens a lot in Arizona, too. Even if you're going 5 miles over the speed limit in some places, which is allowed. Like what in the hell do people need to get to so quickly that it's dire enough for you to be that much of a douchebag to EVERYONE?
I still live in Ohio and what I hate is when there's construction they give you enough time to say hey in 3 miles left lane closed merge right. Immediately I get over, but there are so many that wait until the last moment and try to cut you. Nope, I won't let you over because I can read and am not distracted or a douchebag. What I hate even more is sometimes the vehicle in front of me will let the douchebag go in front of them encouraging them to continue this behavior. As someone said to me they must be in a hurry to get to their grave. We also have the problem that you could be (and shouldn't be) going 80 in a 70 and I've noticed that's not good enough for people anymore, so they go around and hopefully into a speed trap.
I was driving a while back, and a guy pulled this. I said, "I hope you wreck." And then, about half a mile up the highway, guess who hit two vehicles trying to yank back into the flow of traffic?
Counterpoint: I hate when people just stand around in the way and don't even consider other people. They get what they want, you go back to browsing. It's not rocket science, but the amount of people who don't get that simple etiquette is truly disappointing.
RIGHT but you'll have two ladies with their carts diagonal blocking as much space as possible having a 45 minute tea session about the kid's school or something, or one person w/ diagonal cart blocking half the aisle and they're standing hesitating between 5 kinds of cereal on the other half. and god forbid you say 'excuse me' and try to get past, they glare like you're jiggling the handle after they already said 'occupied'
This happened like 2 days ago, and while not in the grocery store, that was my final destination. So I had to go to the ATM, to check the balance on my card (I currently can't log into the internet bank nor the app to check), and we have 2 that's side by side. One is occupied by a lady, and not even an arms length behind her is a group of 6 guys, I'd guess aged 18-25, just chatting and what looked like goofing around. I didn't want to go between them and the lady, and intrude in her space, so I went around them to get to the other ATM. Frankly it was unnerving, and I was uncomfortable with having them that close to me, even if I was done within 30 seconds. Here's the kicker, where those two ATM's are located, is right at a spot where a "hallway" with stores opens up into a larger area. Pretty much 90% of that area has nothing in it. The middle has a small train-ride thing for kids, and that's it. They could have stood anywhere except for right f-ing there. I came from the end of the hallway and none of them even looked at the ATM, so they weren't in line. And they were still there after the lady left, so they weren't with her.
I'd argue it could be Hold My Beer, it's the second most viewed vid on the channel by a HUGE margin and a fan favorite judging by the comments as well, mostly thanks to Marks parkour adventure and bunking attempt.
What really annoys me are people who decide to go around on a single lane, 2-way road, and I'm going the speed limit or 5 over. But one time I was behind a group of cyclists biking on the side, and at least one kept meandering too close to the road to comfortably pass, and there were oncoming cars on the other side. I was forced to slow down and a guy in a truck behind me starts blaring his horn, then speeds past me once there was a big enough gap in the oncoming cars. I admit, in that moment I had a little fantasy about slamming the breaks and catapulting the guy into my trunk (don't worry, no accidents happened).
The only time I've ever gone around someone is when they're going, like, ten under the speed limit. Where I am, we have a ton of old people, and old people around here are either snails or bullet trains
What pisses me off the most is when people use a turn lane or a lane that is fading into another lane that basically unless you’re turning or whatever you shouldn’t be in that lane whatsoever BUT PEOPLE USE THESE LANES TO SKIP A WHOLE LINE AND IT PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH- like all the rest of us are being patient and waiting in line LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING AND YET THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY’RE BETTER THAN THE REST OF US AND FUCKING USE THE OTHER LANES TO MERGE IN FRONT- every time this happens, which is mostly daily, I think to myself “Nobody fucking let them in everybody pass them come on-“ but mostly people are forgiving human beings apparently cuz they just LET THEM IN- I hate people ima be honest- also when they merge in front of you because you’re in the faster lane and you’re keeping like a car and a half length distance between you and the car in front of you because you gotta be ready if they do something stupid, and someone merges in front of you with barely any room between you and them, and they sometimes don’t even have a turn signal on! I hate people that would go around you and when they're in front of you, they put on their brakes so you would have to immediately slow down. Yeah the food shopping one confuses me a bit too. Maybe he's specifically referring to when the shop is busy? So the aisles are more crowded, I typically go food shopping in the evening so it's quieter. But let's say I'm in an aisle and there's like 4 other people with trolleys stopped looking at stuff on the shelves and I'm trying to walk through the aisle, I would just go around them since I'll just get in the way standing around. But if someone was coming towards me, I'd wait till they passed me before going around. So I think he may have been meaning that he gets annoyed with people in shops who try to go around someone who is stopped despite seeing there's already another person coming towards them.

Everybody needs to just calm down. Safety over speed, broken bones and damaged cars cost a lot more than 5 seconds of gas.
I sympathize with Bob soo much. Here in NC, it seems like everyone drives 15-20mph faster than whatever the posted speed limit is, no matter where I go. 60mph on the interstate? People fly past me in the right lane going 75-80mph. I work late nights and by the time I am heading home, it's close to 11:30pm. I live on some backwoods rural 2 lane roads that are either farmlands or forests the entire way. No posted speed limit signs (except for the yellow caution signs that suggest speeds to take up-coming curves at). During the day, I take the roads at 55mph but at night, I drop to 45mph because there are soo many deer and bear that will run out in front of you. And no matter what time of day it is, I always have people speeding past me...some even passing me in no passing zones. I'm half expecting one night to have some asshole in a squatted POS truck with blinding headlights to speed past me otw home only for me to get around the next corner and see the truck totaled in a ditch due to a deer or bear.
Ngl, I feel this one. In my city a road into our downtown is a one lane because they're doing construction on it, and people do this all the time... and then expect people to just let them in at the merge lane. Screw you I'm not letting you in, there are big ass signs that say "merge" and "one lane ahead" and you wait till the very last second then expect us to just let you in? I don't think so.
I know Bob lives in the bay area and as somebody who grew up in the Bay Area, this is the most Bay Area thing ever. Either be patient and use your signal or I’ll send you to San Francisco instead of Emeryville.
I live in California and some people drive so impatiently. Like, did overtaking me to get in front of me because I was going 2 mph less than you wanted really gaining you much? Such an impatient mindset while driving. Another similar thing is that I wish more people just committed to a lane/"get in line" if they're going to get in two or one lane that goes on a freeway exit, instead of using the lane to the left of the exit lane(s) to "speed up" and "get ahead" of the other cars queued up that already committed to the exit lane.
Going off of what Bob said I feel like the problem is that the majority of people are just too impatient nowadays, set the cruise control and just chill it makes driving simple for everyone.
On the road is one thing sure, but people who just walk so EXTREMELY slowly through grocery stores or just constantly stop and start are the bane of my existence
My favorite are the people that live 2 blocks apart, meet in the grocery aisles coming opposite ways, and decide to take up the whole aisle to talk for 10 minutes as if the haven't seen each other in 20 years.
Thank you bob as a truck driver I got it a little worse it’s respectful to stay to the right I often do but my biggest problem is roundabouts I need to be in half of both lanes most truckers do traffic behind me has issue with this as they constantly try to cut me off and it ended up in a accident and the other driver was at fault I had both rearview and front view cam corders and I did nothing wrong just doing my job but the driver who hit me had a luxurious bmw argued because his car was so expensive that he should be exempted from having to be accountable for damages that’s no excuse you get a expensive car dose not make you privileged!
Thankfully where I live most folks behave when driving unless its at a crosswalk. For some reason folks act up so much at the crosswalks that its just safer to cross the road elsewhere.
bob's "go around and cut back in story" made me so unbelievably angry 😂, i live in this town that leading out one way is totally normal. but if you want to leave the other way, for i don't know. a close job, go to the closest grocery stores, fast food places. you have to cross these bridges, which is no problem. they got riddled with pot holes and eventually the city was like "now that it is literally impossible to leave this side of the town without completely destorying any and all car tires, we will begrudgingly close the bridges down and rebuild these nearly 100 year old bridges that also got completely submurged in a flood forever ago" and they said that they would tear down and fix one side before closing the other one and doing that while letting us drive on the new side. then after closing one side for 2 months and doing nothing, they started tearing it down and 2 weeks later they closed off both and started tearing them both down. for about 2-3 months now if you wanted to leave that side, you are at the mercy of a gigantic 16 rail wide train yard (that does slim down to a reasonable 12 😂 when it moves over to the industral side by the bridges) that has 2-3 rails covering every exit road. last week i sat down there for nearly 40 minutes because 1 train went by and before the railroad crossing signs even stopped dinging another train was ready to block the road again 🤬🤬
I have a good story about this! 😂 So I'm from New Orleans, and after Hurricane Katrina my mom would take me to school, and we had to drive right by where the 17th Street Canal wall failed(which caused a lot of flooding) , so that whole area was a dystopian wasteland. Anyway, one time the main road was randomly closed, so we were like... Uh... I guess we go through this neighborhood to get back on it? We started driving and it's bad. It's basically the Upside Down. There's cars suspended up in the air between houses that have fallen together, the street suddenly ends bc there's just a freaking house surrealy sitting in the middle of it. It's not great. Then this guy in another car zips up behind us. We can't go forward so we turn around in what used to be a lawn and turn on the next street... AND THERE'S A GIANT SINKHOLE THAT COULD EAT A BUS. Naturally, we stop the car, and this idiot in the other car is so impatient he tries to "go around" us, and he almost goes straight into the pit! 😂 He didn't and everyone was fine. But it was like, REALLY, DUDE? Like was he not looking around and did he not think there could possibly be good reasons to drive slowly or STOP? 😂
If I could ever find an opportunity for it, I'd find two other cars in opposite lanes that are going the same speed as me and pull up right between them so that nobody can ever get around me.

yeah theres a huge difference between trying to pass someone who's stopped or slowed for a sec for things like a pedestrian (like described in the video, which is bullshit) and someone whos consistently been going 40 on a 70mph road (a reasonable time to pass so long as you arent getting in anyones way) Grocery stores though, most people only go there to get what they need and get out, the average person doesnt necessarily *enjoy* the store (the only exception ive noticed is older women, since thats one of the only places they run into people they know besides idk. church or something). but you wont have to worry about people trying to pass you at least in my local walmart because the isles are narrower every time i go and youre lucky if two carts can even fit side by side without scraping the shelves at this point lol

I uhhhh. I’m guilty of this all the time. My reasoning for it is simply time. If others are stopping for something it may not be something *i’d* stop for. For example. A pedestrian *jaywalking*. If they aren’t directly in front of my car I’ll go past them. I have places to be and shit to do. I don’t slow down for anything if I can help it.
Is this like an American thing? In Canada, I've personal never seen it happen, typically everyone stops when the person infront stops, also the only thing that's even like this, is MAYBE when construction exists but that's it.
It really depends. Like, if you're moseying around at five or ten MPH under the speed limit, getting mad at people for going around you is completely unreasonable. If the speed limit is 40, and you decide to go 30 the whole way, people are going to go around you, and it's completely fair for them to do that. But if you're driving at the speed limit or a little bit over, then yeah, it's really annoying when someone goes around you. I dunno what kind of driver Bob is, so I can't really judge if this is warranted indignation or not. It's funny, but I dunno if it's fair.

As someone who lives in California, yes, yes I am one of those people why try to go around others who I deem to be too slow on the road but not on a freeway. Sorry but when traffic is this bad especially in LA you gotta find ways to beat the herd and save time hence why I mostly avoid the highways here. Right now Boise, Idaho; is having a simliar problem. I'd be driving like right at the speed limit and all those behind are like "What the hell, why u drive at the speed limit." So of course they go around. Only half the time its a two lane road. So they go around through the lane of on coming trafic. And sometime there's not enught space/time. Ngl, I feel this one. In my city a road into our downtown is a one lane because they're doing construction on it, and people do this all the time... and then expect people to just let them in at the merge lane. Screw you I'm not letting you in, there are big ass signs that say "merge" and "one lane ahead" and you wait till the very last second then expect us to just let you in? I don't think so.
I know Bob lives in the bay area and as somebody who grew up in the Bay Area, this is the most Bay Area thing ever. Either be patient and use your signal or I’ll send you to San Francisco instead of Emeryville.
I live in California and some people drive so impatiently. Like, did overtaking me to get in front of me because I was going 2 mph less than you wanted really gaining you much? Such an impatient mindset while driving. Another similar thing is that I wish more people just committed to a lane/"get in line" if they're going to get in two or one lane that goes on a freeway exit, instead of using the lane to the left of the exit lane(s) to "speed up" and "get ahead" of the other cars queued up that already committed to the exit lane.

Going off of what Bob said I feel like the problem is that the majority of people are just too impatient nowadays, set the cruise control and just chill it makes driving simple for everyone.
On the road is one thing sure, but people who just walk so EXTREMELY slowly through grocery stores or just constantly stop and start are the bane of my existence
My favorite are the people that live 2 blocks apart, meet in the grocery aisles coming opposite ways, and decide to take up the whole aisle to talk for 10 minutes as if the haven't seen each other in 20 years.
Thank you bob as a truck driver I got it a little worse it’s respectful to stay to the right I often do but my biggest problem is roundabouts I need to be in half of both lanes most truckers do traffic behind me has issue with this as they constantly try to cut me off and it ended up in a accident and the other driver was at fault I had both rearview and front view cam corders and I did nothing wrong just doing my job but the driver who hit me had a luxurious bmw argued because his car was so expensive that he should be exempted from having to be accountable for damages that’s no excuse you get a expensive car dose not make you privileged!

Thankfully where I live most folks behave when driving unless its at a crosswalk. For some reason folks act up so much at the crosswalks that its just safer to cross the road elsewhere.
bob's "go around and cut back in story" made me so unbelievably angry 😂, i live in this town that leading out one way is totally normal. but if you want to leave the other way, for i don't know. a close job, go to the closest grocery stores, fast food places. you have to cross these bridges, which is no problem. they got riddled with pot holes and eventually the city was like "now that it is literally impossible to leave this side of the town without completely destorying any and all car tires, we will begrudgingly close the bridges down and rebuild these nearly 100 year old bridges that also got completely submurged in a flood forever ago" and they said that they would tear down and fix one side before closing the other one and doing that while letting us drive on the new side. then after closing one side for 2 months and doing nothing, they started tearing it down and 2 weeks later they closed off both and started tearing them both down. for about 2-3 months now if you wanted to leave that side, you are at the mercy of a gigantic 16 rail wide train yard (that does slim down to a reasonable 12 😂 when it moves over to the industral side by the bridges) that has 2-3 rails covering every exit road. last week i sat down there for nearly 40 minutes because 1 train went by and before the railroad crossing signs even stopped dinging another train was ready to block the road again 🤬🤬
I'm with Bob on this one, fully. It's why I can't wait for self driving cars to become the standard and eliminate so many of these human error issues.

So I'm from New Orleans, and after Hurricane Katrina my mom would take me to school, and we had to drive right by where the 17th Street Canal wall failed(which caused a lot of flooding) , so that whole area was a dystopian wasteland. Anyway, one time the main road was randomly closed, so we were like... Uh... I guess we go through this neighborhood to get back on it?
We started driving and it's bad. It's basically the Upside Down. There's cars suspended up in the air between houses that have fallen together, the street suddenly ends bc there's just a freaking house surrealy sitting in the middle of it. It's not great. Then this guy in another car zips up behind us. We can't go forward so we turn around in what used to be a lawn and turn on the next street... AND THERE'S A GIANT SINKHOLE THAT COULD EAT A BUS. Naturally, we stop the car, and this idiot in the other car is so impatient he tries to "go around" us, and he almost goes straight into the pit! 😂 He didn't and everyone was fine. But it was like, REALLY, DUDE? Like was he not looking around and did he not think there could possibly be good reasons to drive slowly or STOP? 😂
Man, the look on his face when he backed up. After that he was pretty meek about following us as we slowly tried to get out of there! 😂

yeah theres a huge difference between trying to pass someone who's stopped or slowed for a sec for things like a pedestrian (like described in the video, which is bullshit) and someone whos consistently been going 40 on a 70mph road (a reasonable time to pass so long as you arent getting in anyones way)
Grocery stores though, most people only go there to get what they need and get out, the average person doesnt necessarily *enjoy* the store (the only exception ive noticed is older women, since thats one of the only places they run into people they know besides idk. church or something). but you wont have to worry about people trying to pass you at least in my local walmart because the isles are narrower every time i go and youre lucky if two carts can even fit side by side without scraping the shelves at this point lol

My reasoning for it is simply time. If others are stopping for something it may not be something *i’d* stop for. For example. A pedestrian *jaywalking*. If they aren’t directly in front of my car I’ll go past them. I have places to be and shit to do. I don’t slow down for anything if I can help it.

Is this like an American thing? In Canada, I've personal never seen it happen, typically everyone stops when the person infront stops, also the only thing that's even like this, is MAYBE when construction exists but that's it.
It really depends. Like, if you're moseying around at five or ten MPH under the speed limit, getting mad at people for going around you is completely unreasonable. If the speed limit is 40, and you decide to go 30 the whole way, people are going to go around you, and it's completely fair for them to do that. But if you're driving at the speed limit or a little bit over, then yeah, it's really annoying when someone goes around you. I dunno what kind of driver Bob is, so I can't really judge if this is warranted indignation or not. It's funny, but I dunno if it's fair.

As someone who lives in California, yes, yes I am one of those people why try to go around others who I deem to be too slow on the road but not on a freeway. Sorry but when traffic is this bad especially in LA you gotta find ways to beat the herd and save time hence why I mostly avoid the highways here. On reg roads most times they are being slow bc they're slow... If I lean to the side a bit I can see ahead of the car in front of me and 90% of the time it's clear open road. So fuck em I'm passing! Right now Boise, Idaho; is having a simliar problem. I'd be driving like right at the speed limit and all those behind are like "What the hell, why u drive at the speed limit." So of course they go around. Only half the time its a two lane road. So they go around through the lane of on coming trafic. And sometime there's not enught space/time. So their play this game of chicken; all while honking at me for not getting out of their F-ing way. 😡🖕 why the hell do I need to movie, like come on!
