This time I recorded the very rare Fisker Karma. A 100% electric car with 2 x 150 kW, which produce 403hp! The car costs €93.500,00 excl. taxes.
The sound is not how the electric Tesla Roadster sounds, but it is more like spaceship from the planet Mars!
What do you think of electric cars? And what do you think about the Fisker Karma?

damn how good that DB7 sounds
I've said it once, I've said it twice, and I'll say it again: I love that sound.
I can tell you first hand that the design is absolutely gorgeous. Saw one in the car park when I was leaving dinner last night (Saturday, January 21). Wish I had seen and heard it in action. Excellent way to follow-up on my weekend. Thanks as always for the video, Jorrik. :-)

@kvnXelvn It is actually not louder than a Veyron..
That sounds is actually a speaker it goes on when the car is at a low speed so pedestrians are able to hear it for safety reasons. And its a sexy car no doubt.

Walden Schmidt drives one of those... I actually like it a bit but only a bit. The Tesla looks like it's more fun...
@Bristolthunder It's an electric with a range extender, so it's still not a pure electric (or 100% electric as said in the video)
@JoeCfb It isn't useless at all. 6.5s 0-60 is pretty good for such a big hybrid. 32miles fulfills your city-cruising for a day. Stealth mode= you save power. Sport mode = unleashes all it's powers and makes it do 0-60 in 5.9s while using petrol(that also powers a generator). The genius behind this car is the very same genius behind the DB9 therefore this car is something between a Tesla Roadster and an Aston Martin DB9.

I read something about a musician being employed to artificially recreate a sound because it would be near silent otherwise and a potential road hazard. It could have been another car.
Good point hun but no. Oil prices will drop dramatically compared to what they are now. When the consumer needs something, you can charge high prices. When that something is either new or unwanted, you decrease value in order to make it appealing to the market. Hope that helps.

@fireblotter I didn't say you want them, you need them in the future. Our benzine cars will disappear or will be too expensive for the big public.
@blahblop123 Only hydrogen is hard to separate from oxygen (H2O is the basis) and it doesn't generate more power than it costs to make it. You still have the carbon dioxide emissions from the separation of hydrogen, plus the building of the fuel cells.

it isn't a 100% electric vehicle. It also has a gasoline engine in the front that recharges the battery when you are in sport mode or in stealth after the battery runs out.

A Tesla Model S Signature Performance will go 0-60 in 4.4 and will travel 300 miles. All electric. For around $100,000.
I love the idea of electric cars but it isn't useable today since there aren't much loadpoints for them and the range is not that big..

Everybody who says the Fisker Karma is useless, but it maybe won't in 10 years, is wrong. You have to start somewhere. If electric cars weren't made today, we will not have them in 2022...
its not about liking electric cars or not, its the future... and be damn sure that electric engines will become more powerfull than internal combustion based

So if the big public all drove on electricity now, dont you think gas prices would raise even more because they wouldnt earn enaugh money with the current pricelevel?
its not 100% electric.
i think its a nice car, electrical engines have great potential thanks to their huge torque and higher effectiveness. too bad that most electrical cars, like this one, have a little overweight.
biggest problem for the normal customer is the range ofcourse. The concept with an electrical engine and a diesel / petrol powered back up engine is great though. most trips people take are shorter than 32 miles and while youre at work you can recharge it for the drive back home.

Cars with a gas tank can only exist as long as there's enough oil. Without electric cars we won't get to know what a 2030 Ferrari V12 sounds like.
Well what about all those little videos where the electric car beats the Ferrari by half a drag strip? What did we just see right there at the end of THIS video? Not so impressive, performance wise, when it has things like a radio and body work on the electric car, is it?
@sootyferrari65 WTF they are making electric cars that do 100+ miles on a single charge. I dont drive 100 miles a day. So and electric car would be perfect for me.

Well, if petrol here in Holland becomes to expensive, ill move to the belguim/german border.
For the people who dont know, nowhere in the world petrol is as expensive in Holland if i'm correct.

Electric cars don't work, sure they sound cool and don't give off gasses but with so little range and high prices, it's not worth it
