One people overlook is the 2006 - 2013 Lexus IS350. Cheap to buy, super reliable, cheaper insurance, refined, fun to drive and quick. Some of the earlier years (with the shorter gearing) do 0-60 in just under 5 seconds. It's alot of car for the money.

I think a Mercedes CLK 500 should be in this list. Reliable 5.0 V8 engine with 300 hp and a reliable transmission. Even a CL 500 just do a coil over swap and get rid of the ABC suspension great cars for less than 8k
Only thing I disagree with is the Subaru don’t get one unless u got 💰 another good 1st car is a the veloster N but a bit pricey I guess… Miata, fiesta st, and gti are at the top for sure
