    Above the tracks you have the two pointer boxes - left one is usually just the mouse pointer, but then I choose a different one on the right (in this case I chose 'Fade Tool). Now that I've selected Fade Tool, to enable it, hold the Command key and start dragging just like he does in the video. It's very easy to do!

      @@Wipeout2806 So, to use the Fade Tool the track you want to use it on *must* be an Audio Track; that's important because it will not work on a Software Track. So, bounce in place your Software Tracks, and then the Fade Tool will work. Once the track is an Audio Track, your mouse will change to let you know that you can employ the Fade Tool to then make fades!
      Now, if you don't want to bounce your Software Tracks, just simply go into the Piano Roll for the region with the MIDI Data and then click on " Show/Hide Automation" to show your Automations and then apply a MIDI Volume fade by selecting MIDI Volume. Its a tad tedious, but that'll work if you don't want to bounce the MIDI in the software tracks.

    The key to this video is understanding the two pointers to the left of the Snap pop-up menu which is preset at Smart. The right tool is defaulted to the markee. It is the cross-hairs that allow one to select along the track [inside the waveform the cross-hairs appear and make the tool functional to drag over a section that then is highlighted] and from there you can go to that markee menu item and click on it to see what other tools are available [both menus are dupes of one another].
    The fade-in/fade-out is using the fade tool under either the left or right pre-selected menu item]. You don't need to select with the markee to draw over a section. The fade tool is both the markee and snap line to allow for the default linear slope fade. It naturally goes up from the beginning of a section or down from a section to the end point you want to fade out on.
    How it is determined is by markee a section and make it independent from the original waveform.
    Then you can fade-in/fade-out at your leisure.
    The double arrow with a vertical divide icon appears at the top strip signifying you can now click-drag on the track pad/mouse and generate a curve up or curve down sloped parabolic line.
    It took me a bit to figure it out myself after a couple of weeks in on this new DAW. It's worth the effort. Of course I learned quickly that reading the manual is up to snuff and worth diving into.

  • @patsfan2078

    easy. If you notice he goes to the very left of the screen {using an arrow, not a circle) then clicks on the drop down arrows and it exposes the fade in/ fade out, reverb, a bunch of others. it defaults to the built in ones as opposed to the after market plug ins that you would use near the bottom. choose what you want then on the audio file left click and hold and drag the corners

    You probably figured it out by now but for everyone else, it looks like he had already started that fade with the 'fade' tool. It looks like the > symbol in the command click menu, up near the two cursor tool types, once you select that as your secondary tool it's fairly easy to figure it out...cheers.

      if you already have an EQ inserted on the track, click "A" to enter automation mode and select the drop down menu on the track shown @ 3:39. The EQ should show up, select it and then the hi pass filter. Personally I found that inserting a filter plug in on the track sounds better and smoothes the frequency changes better :)

    When editing automation on a soloed MIDI region (when it turns yellow), why does it get unselected as soon as I touch the automation? Really frustrating when trying to edit automation on Multi-Timbral while using the solo... And I can't use the other solo next to the mute button, because then all of the Multi-Timbral tracks get soloed. What to do? would be glad for response :-)

  • @pepperot
    @pepperot 10 лет назад

    To anyone who's wondering, as far as I know, you cannot fade a software instrument (MIDI recorded). You need first to bounce the track (making it an audio track, as shown in the video) then you can do fades, slow downs etc. This makes these adjustments one of the last things you want to do, since you should generally bounce at the end of the recording session.

    It would be better if you showed the whole process including what tools to use and how, right from the start, you're assuming people know what you're talking about when you show what you're doing half way through. It doesn't work for me at all and just adds to the frustration. I'm not a novice with music creation software and yet I find Logic Pro X, which I thought would be worth the money thanks to people talking favourably about it (shame you can't try a demo and see if YOU like it!!!) just about the most UNintuitive, UNuser-friendly software I have ever had the misfortune to waste money on! It's full of totally concealed menus and is anything but Logical! Big FAIL Apple as far as I'm concerned! Music creators want to create music, not be spending hours and hours trying to figure out what should be the most easy and obvious things!

    • @ParaguaneroSwag
      @ParaguaneroSwag 10 лет назад +1

      Logic Pro X is honestly the best music software for MIDI composition (like making a beat). Protools is the best for mixing and editing which is what this dude is doing. If you use your DAW for mixing, editing or recording get protools. If you use it to make beats, get Logic Pro X. If you do both (like myself), get both. If you have any questions please email me paraguaneroswag@icloud.com I'll be glad to help you with this. And yes I agree this dude isn't explaining very well. But trust me Logic Pro is one of the best out there. Definitely the best for making beats.

    • @bahbhudson1068
      @bahbhudson1068 10 лет назад +1

      I completely agree with Louisa. Logic is anything BUT logical. Hidden things in every corner. So far I've spent a couple days (whole days) learning how to fade things only to find that you can't do that on instruments - only on audio tracks. Would have hurt to put that disclaimer on the fade tool?

    • @ParaguaneroSwag
      @ParaguaneroSwag 10 лет назад +2

      Bähb Hudson You can't fade on any DAW with MIDI tracks. Because the "MIDI language" doesn't read fades. You have to turn your MIDI tracks to audio tracks which isn't hard to do either, and then fade the tracks. Logic is an advanced DAW and it's complicated because its powerful. Not because it's "unlogical". If it was simple and everyone could use it, it wouldn't be an advanced DAW. Honestly if you're having this much trouble with Logic, then start with a simpler thing like Garage Band. They don't do as much but are easier to learn

    • @bahbhudson1068
      @bahbhudson1068 10 лет назад +1

      I'm NOT having this much trouble with Logic. It's that nobody has ever explained that. They show you how to make fades but they never say they only work on Audio Tracks. Yes. I can convert my tracks to Audio - it's just that nobody told me I had to do that. Now that I know, I'll just do that.
