This looks great and I like your review, but there seems to be virtually the same devices on Aliexpress for around £150. I'm not trying to knock this product but I'd like to know what's different about this one that justifies another £300?
Great review. Loved all the discussion/commentary from a practical use standpoint about how it overcomes so many previously existing road blocks of convenient use vs current nav "solutions". I have a 2012 Honda ST 1300 & I am pretty certain I'm going to purchase a Chigee. I just need to figure out how/where to mount the screen. I have no accessibile round mounting bar & handlebars are not round either to fit the Chigee mount attachment that is provided in the kit. I'm going to have to come up with an entirely bike-specific inventive mounting solution. Currently I just use my phone for music/nav in a Ram mount that is attached (with extended Ram screws) in the bolt holes that hold the clutch lever/brake fluid reservoir bracket onto my handlebar. In theory I could mount the Chigee screen there but it would be quite exposed from a potential theft standpoint. Any solutions from fellow Honda ST1300 riders would be appreciated. Thx
tough one indeed! some bikes are great for mounting things and others arent, although i did see a post on facebook some time ago that someone mounted theirs on the dash using a quadlock mount to the dash and a ram mount for angling it in the right place and a quadlock mount to the rear of the unit. might be worth a shot.
the unit works on any bike. the canbus adapter has either an 8 pin or 4 pin version so check with your local BMW dealer to see if the RDC unit is on your bike and can take the connection, otherwise the wireless remote is an awesome addition as does the same thing although without the whizz wheel
I love using CarPlay on tour in my car but can not change or set new route without data available to my phone so I rely on an actual gps in those situations, I assume the Chigee gps dongle is only to provide coordinates for the camera, does it help in the “no data available” situation I described above?
Will have to try with the data off and see what happens but the gps seems to provide the location for the apps. So in scenic and tomtom having downloaded the maps it should work but will test :)
It looks like you can use the wonderwheel to move around within apps, e.g. play/pause/select playlist in Spotify. How do you then get back to the main Apple CarPlay screen, using the wheel only and not touching the screen, for example to then go back to your navigation app of choice? I’m so close to buying one of these but need to make sure I can flick between Scenic and Spotify and choose menu options in both apps without touching the screen.
With the whizz wheel to move from screen to screen, I.e you press to the left and hold for a couple of seconds to move from CarPlay to the main menu. If you are in a screen such as apple carplay you press the which wheel right or left briefly and it moves from icon to icon and then you press in the indicator button (as if to cancel an indicator) to select a different icon etc. doesn’t effect your indicator or if you are indicating and selecting I think the indicator takes presidence hope this helps
@@RiderCamTV thanks. It was the one thing that none of the reviews covered. I’ve seen other devices with a remote instead of the wheel control, but they’re all limited to answer/hang up on calls or pause/resume music. I like the idea of being able to use the wheel to do things in Scenic like skip waypoint, which is something I can currently do using a combination of Scenic/WunderLINQ and an old iPhone mounted as a nav device on a Quadlock wireless charging mount. The drawback of that setup is the screen in the sun. It’s not too bad as I did 2,000 miles in Spanish sun in two weeks, but I think the Chigee screen would be better.
Did you also test the Chigee with Android Auto? Because Voice Control does NOT work with AA while using a bluetooth headset. ( Chigee says they are working on it though)

This looks really interesting! Do you happen to know if r1200rs is listed as a bike that will work with this unit? I use calimoto app on my phone via quadlock... but an option to operate navigation etc via bmw wheel... is really tempting!
the unit will work on any bike, you might have to ask Chigee themselves if the canbus add in will work but they do offer an 8 pin or 4 pin adapter for the canbus so may work. cant see any reason why not as the RDC unit or plug i guess is the same, but i would check with your local BMW dealer to make sure first. Built in TFT go out of date, either completely or companies like good old BMW charge a fortune to upgrade software/firmware. Makes the price of this device more realistic and prices will come down. And it would be good if OEMs quit the TFTs, concentrated on the bike and charged lower prices.
BMW kit version is around £625, unit, mount, camera mount, BMW canbus adaptor, wireless controller, screen saver with no TPSM, £9 postage, so around £780-800 with import tax/duty and vat. I'm a bit suss after reading their shipping notes on their website about import duty taxes and what they do to mitigate them, I.e. lie about the actual cost of the items sent on the custom forms... Don't get me wrong, it looks and seems to be a great bit of kit if you want an all-in-one bundle.
although seems a lot, the capabilities of the unit with the canbus adapter, TPSM, Cameras and Blind Spot Detection, as well as sat nav with the choice to use any app you want that is compatible i think makes it a great cost effective choice :) Import taxes might be a factor but hey ho..... :(
Spoken vavigation through carplay is done through the carplay device - so how do you get turn-by-turn instructions through your headset when using this device?
Just a word of warning to those looking to buy the Chigee AIO-5. While it has a touchscreen it doesn't respond to gloves. I tried it with 3 different pairs of gloves. None of them work with the unit. REALLY disappointing. You can operate the unit via the buttons across the top but given their spacing and size that too is difficult to do when riding. Other than that, the unit seems to be OK. Took me about an hour to fit to my V-Strom 1050XT.
@@RiderCamTV and that's what other reviewers have said. Thing is, the gloves do work fine with my Garmin Zumo XT. One guy asked if my gloves had a touch pad on them. I'll have to look again. I was wondering if the screen isn't sensitive enough compared to the Zumo. There aren't any settings that I can find, but then I haven't fully explored the AIO's capabilities. And I'll try an update.
it is impressive, although not cheap, adding up the individual costs of buying all the capabilities in separate devices certainly makes this a cheaper and easier option ;)
@@RiderCamTV You say that but....... I spent a lot of money on the INNOVV K2 when it came out as jsut wanted something 'that worked'. It was easily the worse on board cam I've ever used. Sometimes it wouldn't start up, then if I used the high beam the unit would crash. Fitting Ferrite rings to the power supply cable helped but never fixed it. Whereas my £100 VSYSTO setup has been perfect over the last 3 years. TPMS I have a £25 solar powered unit from Ali. So I've got all I 'need' for £130. The Ottocast would make more sense for me but it needs to be 100% reliable and it's super difficult to tell that from YT reviews.
I can see this would be good for some, but I’d prefer to keep navigation and phone independent. That way you have a backup device if one of them goes down.
seems a lot, although if you factor in all of the capabilities it has and that it eliminates seperate devices all into one, its comaprable to buying them all and even cheaper, but depends what you want on the bike i guess :)
@@RiderCamTV well the system doesnt really do anything on its own. Almost all features are activated by a smartphone. That makes this pretty much an OS-less tablet. It doesnt even have integrated maps, so if my phone dies, my navigation dies with it. So to pay €700 bucks for a basic front/back camera system that wont do anything else on its own without the brains and lungs from a phone is just crazy expensive. A Garmin Zumo XT2 costs 100 bucks less than that and will take you around the world including off-road maps without any smartphone connected to it. Plus it will connect with other XT2 users so that if anything happens you can always find each other. Now thats value. €700 bucks for an android auto/carplay is crazy...for the same money i buy a couple of good smartphones as backups that will have a ton more features and integrated maps into them...
Beware Android Auto will not work with Huawei and Vivo phones. Just bought and installed but I now have to buy a new phone as the system is not compatible with a huawei p30 pro. The phone will connect but not android auto
I generally know where I'm going, just a quick look at a map. Anything that occurs along the way is entertainment. Don't need to overcomplicate it. Just saying.
£660 with mount,Tom etc, sun glare? Can't remove ( I know it's wired but BMW sat navs getting cut). No support/update. Start up crowd fund. I got cheat sat nav Car play, use phone iPod,cheap one etc Phone ,need to keep my mind on the road. Sorry not for me
When you factor the price as to what you have all in one unit it’s cheaper than buying all the devices separately. They have good support and are releasing updates all the time and are shipping their units as many people have already got them and happy so not sure what the issue it to be hinest
depends which way you look at it, and of course the budget available. but for the capabilities all in one unit like sat nav from the app you prefer, BSD, Cameras, TPMS and the ability to use CarPlay or Android Auto certainly makes it a cheaper option if you were to buy all the devices individually :)
Thanks for the reply, its a great piece of kit don't get me wrong. I would struggle to justify that spend for my time in the saddle. It would be great for all year round riders and for gentlemen like yourselves who are on the bikes for tours and work. Keep up the good work lads.@@RiderCamTV

@@RiderCamTVit’s far too expensive, if it was around the £250 mark then perhaps
Where did you get the RDC splitter cable?
For the chiggee unit we got it from them. Comes in the box with the whizz wheel controller module
@@RiderCamTV Tyvm. I ordered one and the dongle. This is something I’ve been looking for.
As your headset is connected to your phone and your phone connected to the chigee the turn by turn instructions goes straight to your headset
What size is screen
All the details are on the video or on their website. Link in the description of the video buddy
Try Sygic It takes GPX files
Thanks for the info
Great vid you doing an install vid
we might be able to although the install is really simple (well, once you find a place to install it) ... will see what we can do
Does the ball mount still fit a RAM mount?
The ball mount is smaller that a ram mount but may fit it
Can you install and used bmw connected motorrad app?
Unfortunately not as it’s not CarPlay compatible
I'll wait for the Mk2 version.
Wait for the mk3
Might not make it past the press give aways
its already shipping to some early supporters
where is possible to by i´m in Portugal and i have RT1200LC like that
Not sure buddy. But they probably ship to you from their website
i got one off Ali Express, Certainly not the same quality but does the same thing for £400 less
Minus the cameras and radar and tyre pressures 🤣
Just a word of warning to those looking to buy the Chigee AIO-5. While it has a touchscreen it doesn't respond to gloves. I tried it with 3 different pairs of gloves. None of them work with the unit.
REALLY disappointing.
You can operate the unit via the buttons across the top but given their spacing and size that too is difficult to do when riding.
Other than that, the unit seems to be OK. Took me about an hour to fit to my V-Strom 1050XT.
Thanks buddy. Haven’t had any problems with gloves so far
Doesn’t work with my gloves either
Google says thank you for sharing your motor life with them.
If you have a phone you share it with them anyway, that’s how they know a road is congested 🤣
That’s very impressive 😎 not cheap though!
it is impressive, although not cheap, adding up the individual costs of buying all the capabilities in separate devices certainly makes this a cheaper and easier option ;)
That way you have a backup device if one of them goes down.
very true, although you could also take a spare sat nav just in case. not had a problem as yet but i guess you never know
Liquid child diving faces ❤ 🎵
Its nearly £500 think i will just use my phone on connected cradle
Sorry, you can get it for £303, so with front and rear camera and all the functionality together is not a bad deal, I guess…
@@marcio_de_oliveira Plus import duty/tax/vat and customs charge from Parcelforce on top. so around £400 for just the base unit and no mounts
You can get copycat ones for under £180
@@marcio_de_oliveira plus import duties/tax and vat so looking at £425, without any other accessories, such as mounts, canbus adaptor etc.
@@marcio_de_oliveira so does it actually incluse cameras
Very interesting 🤓😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻
And why don’t they just sell unit without cameras
Probably as it part of their product and why not have them as well. You of course diner have to fit them
Too dear , over $1000 in Australian dollars with the remote and TPMS.
Seems good though
seems a lot, although if you factor in all of the capabilities it has and that it eliminates seperate devices all into one, its comaprable to buying them all and even cheaper, but depends what you want on the bike i guess :)
The concept is nice but the price is insane
Depends if you want all the features this provides it not actually that pricy to be fair
Thanks for the tip
You gave away your location with GPS coordinates. 😂
On the video from the dashcam yeah but was on a ride so no worries there ;)
Please can I have one? This is a game changer me thinks…
I generally know where I'm going, just a quick look at a map. Anything that occurs along the way is entertainment. Don't need to overcomplicate it. Just saying.
Very true indeed. Love that you now have more options other than TomTom and garmin though
£660 with mount,Tom etc, sun glare?
Can't remove ( I know it's wired but BMW sat navs getting cut).
No support/update.
Start up crowd fund.
I got cheat sat nav
Car play, use phone iPod,cheap one etc
Phone ,need to keep my mind on the road.
Sorry not for me
TPM not Tom
When you factor the price as to what you have all in one unit it’s cheaper than buying all the devices separately. They have good support and are releasing updates all the time and are shipping their units as many people have already got them and happy so not sure what the issue it to be hinest
Far too much money for that
depends which way you look at it, and of course the budget available. but for the capabilities all in one unit like sat nav from the app you prefer, BSD, Cameras, TPMS and the ability to use CarPlay or Android Auto certainly makes it a cheaper option if you were to buy all the devices individually :)
Thanks for the reply, its a great piece of kit don't get me wrong. I would struggle to justify that spend for my time in the saddle. It would be great for all year round riders and for gentlemen like yourselves who are on the bikes for tours and work. Keep up the good work lads.@@RiderCamTV
How did you fit it to the RT please
With the lossless mount to the sat prep
