    So for a bmw it’s more than 500 pounds. Next to that you always have to power your cellphone because all data comes from your phone and this will drain the battery. That’s a lot but it does look good.

      If I'd spent £400+ on something like this, I'd expect it to be perfect and last for many years. My concern with this brand is they will disappear in a years time meaning we'd be left with a unit that can't be upgraded so won't work with newer phones.

      We get asked this question all the time. We have turned down so many bits of equipment that the producers have asked us for a ‘positive’ review. We only give honest reviews good or bad and we don’t let the producers see the video before it goes out. On equipment we have been given and that can be passed on we do so at our RiderCamTV ride out. Last year we gave away over £3k in equipment at the end of the ride in our raffle. We are sick of RUclipsrs who bend to their (manufacture’s) will…

    In your intial video introducing this system you made a passing comment along the lines of 'this won't have random disconnects like other CarPlay systems'. You've previously reviewed the Ottocast unit, giving it a glowing review but is the Ottocast one of those units where you experienced random disconnects? I absolutely love tech like this but it needs to work evertime otherwise it's an expesive frustration that I end up not using.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  4 месяца назад +1

      Ottocast was good and didn’t have disconnects and worked well but this system has it all and is much faster and connects every time. I’ve used it for a month daily and it’s worked flawlessly. The best bit is that the headset connects to the phone and phone to the unit itself, while the ottocast connected to both at the same time so more to go wrong I guess

    I took mine out for the first time today. The thing that I am not liking so far is the turn signal cancellation switch being used as a selector switch. Whenever you use your turn signal and need to cancel, you end up initiating something else when you push the cancellation button. Depending on what item was highlighted in the menu, sometimes it would stop or skip a song or initiate some kind of Apple CarPlay app that was highlighted. They need to change that.

    Only downside that I can think of is that your phone is now in your pocket, not charging, and being drained by the connection (airplay, music, etc) to the Chigee unit. Do you charge your phone while it is in your jacket? Otherwise, when you get to your destination, your all important phone is not fully charged.... I guess you could keep the phone on the bars and charge it at the same time but that sort of defeats the purpose of carplay and protecting your phone.

    • @RiderCamTV
      @RiderCamTV  4 месяца назад

      I thought the same but haven’t really noticed a huge drain on battery at all to be honest. Have been testing it for over a month now and this hasn’t changed. If I’m on your my battery sometimes drains a little and then I make sure all apps like the camera is totally shut down so it limits the amount of drain when riding, although I have always got an external battery with me or a lead to plug in and charge the phone.

Chigee can aslo sell it double the price if they give assistance and make it available also in amazon, but 3 - 4 times more, now you are exaggerating! You can of course get the wireless controller as shown in the videos that will work directly with the unit so will work with any bike. The Bluetooth is really easy to connect and as it has an only one connection from the phone it works every time. Not had any disconnects in over 2 months of daily riding and testing
