- Chigee sent me their Smart Navigation to review/test. Part 1 was the installation process onto my BMW R1250GS.
Part 2, is where I take the unit out for road testing. It mirrors your iPhone or Android phone with CarPlay or Android Auto onto the display, giving you all the usability of the applications that your phone has, ie navigation etc.

Appreciate the mention. Your video production has come on along way. 👌
Thanks. I will put a link in the description to your website😁
A great second review, so much more detailed than anyone else.
Thanks, appreciate it. Great bit of kit.
Great video Paul. Our lives continue to cross, I also went to D-Day beaches in another solo trip on Monday to Wednesday. Weather on Monday afternoon was showery but glorious for Tue and Wed! Hope to catch up soon.
We came back on Monday. Great trip. 6 of us. Let me know if you ever want to have a cuppa out n about 👍
Great review of the Chigee and I'm sold. Will be getting one shortly. Question... Can you manually record from the from and rear cameras simultaneously?
The cameras are recording all the time and only switch off when you go into the camera menu to adjust something.
Hi Great review, question which I'm not sure you can answer, if carrying a pillion both on cardo HD can the pillion hear the chigee sat nav instructions etc. I have a tomtom 550 and sat nag can't hear sat nav, not sure if its a cardo thing or tomtom issue. Cheers Robert.
far better than the Capuride for me, like the cameras & detection, just need it to be removable with a BMW dedicated bracket like Capuride. Slightly larger screen would be good too.
Great review , I have one fitted to my kawaski z1000sx,I cant seem to figure out how to set the L&H tyre 'safety limits' on the TPMS as the front and rear tyres have differnt values of course!,
#
Hi. I believe you can only set one limit L and H which covers both tyres.
Very nice video. On my S1000XR I'm currently using a Zumo XT2 which I don't like, and a quadlock phone with wireless charger head+dampener (pfew). Too many screens (TFT, XT2, phone). An AIO-5 Play with compatibility with BMW's nav prep is in the works for late summer 2024, that's what I'm looking at.
I'm a bit worried that since the phone stays in the pocket, it doesn't get power during the ride, but still works hard to get you music, sat nav, etc. so, my question: how is the iPhone's battery holding when in Carplay ? What does an hour ride with music and navigation mean for the phone's battery ? Thanks !!!
Thanks , to be honest an hours ride will have little effect on the phone . I would run a cable into your pocket as a backup, just keep an eye on the battery level on the device and at the next coffee / toilet stop before you move away plug the cable in for the next part of the ride and when the phon e is charged unplug at the next toilet stop if your over a certain age!!!!
I've read some reports of issues with the EZ-Can and the Chigee wizzy wheel. Have you had any issues? Do your lights get dim or bright from the wizzy wheel when you're trying to control the Chigee?
All good , no issues .
I see you have tested this and the Carpuride W702. I'm torn between the 2 as the W702 is cheaper, has a bigger screen and can fit on the original BMW cradle. But the Chigee seems better built and can use the wonder wheel. How do you compare the 2 (for an Android user)?
Permanent fit, if you have the money go with Chigee. Convenience and don't want the cameras, or multiple bikes then Carpuride or even the Chigee Play.
I will be waiting for the Chigee that will be removable. They have announced that one on their website. Or the Innovv N1.
Yes, I saw that today, thats why I made mention of it in the video.
If we install the 4-PIN CAN Bus connector on R1250 to enable the BMW wonder wheel to work with the AIO 5, will the BMW wonder wheel still work with the BMW TFT?
Thanks
Yes it will.
How do you switch between the TFT and Chigee with the Wonderwheel?
hi . you don’t . the wonder wheel is always active so you just use it normally.
What I don't understand is how the indicator button works as a confirm? What if you want to cancel the indicators?
If you have a screen open and have something highlighted then the indicator cancelling will confirm the selection, which possibly you didn't want!! Kind of thing you get use to, but the bmw has self cancelling ones......
@@gsd32i Yes but they are not very accurate I would say so I just have a habit to cancel them. I guess there is always sth highlighted when in the CarPlay screen, right?
@@maciejmotochannel I would just let them cancel by themselves and if you manually cancel them its not the end of the world
Off topic but is the warning light on your dash caused by the SOS system? Mine has been on for about 3 weeks now!
Yes, bloody thing. Year 2 service due very soon so they can reset it then or whatever it is that they do🙈
@@gsd32i someone on a forum suggested it was caused by 3G being switched off. Sounds plausible but then again the first rule of the internet is never believe what you see on the internet 😂
I have one fitted to my 2020 R1250gs, I love it, but I'm having problem with voice control, I'm using Google, is there a better one to use? I have a Samsung S22
I take it that you have only got the phone connected via bluetooth to the unit and the headset only connected to the phone?
Yes, I used your installation guide. Brilliant
@@andrewburnley7050 if its still not functioning as it should ,can you try it with a friends phone and see if it is the phone? Does the phone have the latest software?
Hi, android 14, I'll try a different phone and let you know. Cheers
I'm having the same issues. I don't think this unit works as well on Android auto as it does with apple car play
Lean angle meter?
Nope.🙈
I’m sure it’s very good but not for me. I’m probably one of the few still working with the Nav VI had it about six or seven years and never had any issues. I don’t need CarPlay as I wouldn’t use any of the functions, although most of the functions I can have through the Nav or the TFT but as I don’t listen to music, don’t take or make phone calls and as you say the BMW already has tyre pressures.
Glad you have had success with the Nav 6. 👍
For me it's the size that matters, it's too small. The cameras also have poor parameters and I don't like them visually.
Alright. You want to watch RUclips or Netflix when riding? It’s a motorcycle not a car? WTH do you need a large screen for and the camera parameters are perfect actually. I don’t know what you are on about.
Hi, If you wear reading glasses, you will understand that size matters.
not so good as it looks like , it jams now to times this chinees product ,not easy to get you money back to.
