@@andrewdyson4255 yes in hindsight I wish I could have given him this for a month but all last minute rush. I’ll rethink the format in the future though.
Brilliant review, done something similar on a trip to France last week I got MRA which i use to do a route then transfer to TomTom rider 550 works great , so i went by car and used my phone to use the app in the car info screen, basically used them in tandem both brilliant but the TomTom had the edge still as it re-routed me because of a 58 minute delay on M6 in England and NO phone signal no map .
In fairness I don’t know if Andy got a chance to go through the instructions before setting up, might have seen the wiz wheel setting. How many of us really do read the instructions. Love the direction the this episode went in, really great to have someone else opinion particularly when they are so use to one system. I’d imagine a week on Andy’s bike, understanding the setup he would have a slightly better impression. Brilliant video well done Andy and Dave of course
@@TheGrandTourer24 yeah I suppose it was a very real experience as this took two of us to get it up and running and we still missed the simple things.🤣🤣
Nice review, I have a feeling I will be getting one of this very soon, I personally find the Garmin very limited in what you can do to it and the CHIGEE connects easer to android and headsets etc. I like can use other apps with it as well, such as other maps apps like Sygic and Waze. Really like it fits straight into the cradle.
I have been using mine on a month long trip in Europe on my 2016 GSA. The only problem I had was with the connection in the cradle one time. You need to be deliberate when plugging to the cradle or the wiz wheel will not work even though I was still getting some data from the bike. I disconnected and carefully reconnected to the cradle making sure I gave the unit a firm push and all was back to normal with full function.
First thoughts Dave you could have used your WiFi hotspot on your phone to set it up I say this because some of us don't have internet/WiFi but we do have phones 👍👍👍
Interesting🤔 It’s amazing how most of us miss the simple things when starting to use a new piece of equipment for the first time. It’s a bit like looking for,”any key” when setting up a new computer. 😅
Hot spot to your phone???? How did it connect to your internet straight away..no network password? So did it get internet connection through your phone via bluetooth? Erm...RTFM?...jus' sayin'....🤘🏍🏴☠
I live in a very hot climate. I have found only the Garmin Zumo XT series to not shut off in the summer heat of direct sunlight.. Will this stay turned on in the hot direct sun like we have in Arizona?
I have a different question, please: at home i saw that the unit was connected to a USB type C to turn on - if i dont have a bmw but i do have battery wired usb and a mount bar for navigator, does the unit will run? Dont care about the bimmer wheel
@@Erezmeir yes it runs on any bike. You have to hard wire it to the battery with a live switch. It comes with all the wiring and is very easy to do. Loads of vids on RUclips about it.👌
Connected my new Chinese to my GS this weekend but having problems with audio on maps and Spotify music being sent to my Cardo headset. I get it all working but when I stop for petrol and need to turn off the ignition, the chigee audio won’t connect to my headset. What am I doing wrong?
@@WheelieGoodTV You need to change from TFT to NAV with having a long (3 sec.) press on the MENU button UP (and to go back to wonder wheel operation on the TFT, you press 3 sec. DOWN).
Hello. So I have bought one of these.Really happy with it but there is no info on the battery and how to manage the battery. I leave the unit on my bike in the cradle. I don't ride every day. When I do ride and the Chigee starts up it says "low battery". Not really a problem yet because it is new but won't there be a deterioration issue with the battery if I keep doing this. There is no info/instructions on this. Should the unit be removed from the bike when not riding?
@@getyourmotorrunning... I never remove mine but I have a live switch within the wiring so when the bike is powered off, there is no power at all going to the unit.
Just bought one of these. Very disappointed. It takes an age to connect to my phone and constantly drops out. Requested a full refund and will return the unit. A shame I thought it was going to be a great item. All software up to date on both phone and nav. The search for a decent set up continues……
So strange… I just bought one a few days ago and my experience is quite the opposite. I clicked it into the cradle on my K1600 and it immediately started up, requesting an activation and software update. Using the hotspot on my phone it went through in about 2 minutes, after which I tried to connect it to my iPhone again. I just needed to accept connection via Bluetooth and within 4 minutes (including the software update!), I had a fully working CarPlay system on my bike! And every time I power up the bike it automatically connects within a few seconds… 🤷🏻♂️
