  • Former patients of a Utah gynecologist say their doctor shattered their trust. They say for decades Dr. Broadbent preyed upon young vulnerable members of the local Mormon community, subjecting them to painful and unnecessary examinations for his pleasure. In total, 94 women teamed up to sue Dr. Broadbent. But to their shock, the judge dismissed the lawsuit. Now, they are appealing the case. Dr. Broadbent has not been charged and denies all the allegations. However, while officials continue investigating, he has agreed to stop practicing. Inside Edition’s Lisa Guerrero has more.

Every exam I’ve had with a male doctor, a female nurse has always been present. I live in Michigan so I don’t know what the protocol is for everywhere else but I am 42 years old almost and I have never had a Pap smear performed by a male gynecologist without a female present, this is horrific.

After a male GP gave me a breast exam that didn’t seem particularly clinical (and he complimented me during it), I chose female doctors going forward. The doctor featured here isn’t the first to predate on Mormon women, so they should be especially cautious.
Edit: I want to add that I don’t fault any woman who has no choice in the matter NOR any woman who is SA’ed when she did. I’m just saying the risk of that happening is exponentially higher with a male.

Within LDS culture there's a popular notion that if a woman doesn't do something to stop her assault, if she doesn't cry out, then she bears some responsibility. Because of a rough OBGYN exam that left me bleeding & cramping, I have never gone back to a conventional medical doctor. I sought homeopaths. Now, I only go to a shaman.
If I absolutely had to go to a medical doctor because I was unconscious after a car accident or some such, of course I would have to.
Having military PTSD is difficult enough. I was diagnosed as having secondary PTSD from that rough & sadistic OBGYN "exam" which lasted twice as long as it was supposed to, left me scarred.
My shaman is so much better than that creep.
Sadly, this is more common that many people realize. It's such a pain filled violation of one of the worst sorts.
