Cipriana, my dear - until today I said I would never let my hair grow long because it's just too too thick. But your crown is inspiring me to go to new lengths. I'm glad I found you two. I'm looking forward to more wonderful videos. I like the vibe on this channel. Blessings...

I am so happy I found you two! I love how you recount your hair practices! It has been extremely helpful for me. I especially love Cipriana talking about her hair because I have finally found someone on RUclips with hair like mine! Yea!! My hair is also extremely fine(like baby fine - the finest strands you can find!!) and dense, so detangling has been an issue for me and dry detangling works! Thnxs Cipriana! If my hair is wet these strands gonna snap right off when I detangle! Thnx for videos!!

I am so glad you posted this. Cipriana, I can relate to my hair snapping right back to where it was when I detangle wet. So, I'm going to try and stretch my hair more and try to dry detangle my hair from now on because I am experiencing so much breakage (short hairs). This is very helpful, can't wait to see more videos. :) Thanks

I love you ladies...thanks so much for keeping it real. I think I just had a paradigm shift. My hair is 4b-4c with over 50% shrinkage. When stretched, it is shoulder length. After washing & conditioning is when I detangle. But some areas mat like a rug no matter what I do and I end up with a pile of broken hair on the counter. Most advice I've seen is to detangle curly hair while wet so I thought something was wrong with me. I'm definitely going to try dry detangling this week. Thanks so much!

Thank you so much! I think people get confused when they hear "dry detangling", "dry" does not mean sans any type of oils. Goodness gracious, my hair would break in the process, I need some type of slip. Water naturally makes hair weaker just through water weight within the strands so I found my hair is easier to detangle dry but with plenty of oils for slip, especially since I have extra fine strand, detangling is easier dry :)

Oh wow! Well good to hear you were able to get through all the tangles!!! Thank you so much but goodness gracious I do not detangle every week, as my hair has gotten longer I detangle every 3-4 weeks but take my hair down from the updo just to separate the twists, moisturize and clean my scalp :D

@godsflame2 Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I actually only finger detangle. Finger detangling takes more work but for me produces a lot less breakage which mean fuller and longer hair. Everyone's hair is different but I am just sharing what works for me. We are going to do a video where it will actually show how I finger detangle. In the mean time if your hair is easier to detangle while wet how about....(completion of comment below)

  • @UrbanBushBabes

@godsflame2 it depends on the type of texture, shrinkage and porosity. I know some women have practically no shrinkage at all and have very little difficulties in wet detangling. I just find since not only am I in the 4 range, I do not have uniformed coily curls which some 4 range textures have, plus with shrinkage and my length it is easier to dry detangle. I would NEVER attempt to dry detangle without some type of oil but as I mentioned your favorite conditioner can be ...(continued below)

Cipriana, I like your method of only using your fingers to dentangle, because even though tools like the denman and tangle teezer makes it a little easier and quicker, I think they cause unexplained broken hairs in the long run. Especially with type 4 hair. I've been noticed short sprigs of hair at my crown, and small broken peices. My ends seem to always need dusting no matter how well I trim or seal. I"m going to try this fingers only method for the rest of the yr, and see how my hair does.

@godsflame2 using conditioner on your strands when you minor finger detangle. I dry finger detangle but always place oil on my hair before I attempt to finger detangle. Since I am not using water I would never attempt to finger detangle without some form of lubrication. Since your hair is easier to detangle while wet you might like to use conditioner on your strands before you attempt to finger detangle. Hope this helps :)

This video is really helpful. I had to cut my hair recently because after getting twists I wasnt careful and broke of some hair in the back (worst area, hard to reach with my huge head!). Anyway this video is teaching me what to do to prevent that again in the future. Thanks!

Yep, this is my problem Cipriana. My hair is 4a and up till last week I thought i was detangling my hair perfectly. THEN, i notice i wasn't being thorough and detangling all the way too the ROOTS. As you can imagine i had a horrific detangle last week. This week (and from now on) I will make use of my fingers for sure because that was the only way too get through it. Instead of racking a comb through it. Very informative vid, I was def. surprised you get 140 twists detangling every week. lol

No joke we love when people reach out so thank you and I am truly happy that you are finding methods that work for you because it took me years to really understand my hair and what would work. I am still discovering till this day but have a healthy regimen I am finally satisfied with. Us fine haired sistas really have to help one another because our hair is the most fragile so I am truly excited when a method works for others! Thank you again. -Cipriana

@godsflame2 Yes I can relate my 4 range hair is extremely tightly curled. My hair is very kinky (kinky but beautiful, lol) plus coupled with major shrinkage and by major I mean anywhere from 50-70%. Wet detangling literally makes it impossible because my curls just shrink back up and curl around each other literally just tangling again right before my eyes. I know some women who are in the 4 range love wet detangling but I do believe (continued below :)

u are so right, finger detangling is the way to go...grease my bad boys up and i detangle, its easier.... its so good i no longer break my hair...i can detangle anytime...even between styles..i make sure that every 3 or so day i remove shed hair....which really cute down on the tangles...

  • @godsflame2
    @godsflame2 13 лет назад

I am really loving these videos? When will you do more, Cipriana, I would love to see how you handle all of your hair! I have 4a/4b hair and I do a minor finger detangle on my dry hair. but don't put in twists prior to co-washing. I mostly detangle my hair while it's wet because its easier to get through, but I do believe I am suffering more breakage because of this. Do you ever use a comb at any point? I feel I need something like the denman or shower comb to help pull out the shed hairs?

@urbanbushbabes Loved the video! I have a question. When you dry detangle with your fingers do you spray water on your hair first than detangle or do you detangle without any added moisture to the hair? I have the 4b type hair about 4 to 5 inches long and I attempted finger detangling on dry hair before washing my hair and my fingers would snag my hair which would hurt! I currently finger detangle on wet hair during washing and I don't catch any snags anymore.

was natural for almost a year before i got a texturizer, which i now hate. at first it was fun but no longer. i suggest for finger detangling to not have excessively long nails or those stray dry cuticles. many times i would find hair tangled around a cuticle i hadn't even noticed before detangling. :( ...just a thought.

@UrbanBushBabes To be honest, I've never really tried to finger dentangle all of my hair dry. I think I always believed it should be a wet? But, that you should just really be careful because it is in a weak state. But I watched a girls video on here(Reneicetv) showing how she completely dry detangles before water even touches her hair and I guess I didn't think it was possible. My hair is really thick and I have tight coils and kinks. I'm going try it with coconut oil( completed comment above)
