  • A discussion about how Splash Mountain was built, and what it took to get the attraction completed. We also get some sweet animatronic shots, though they’re from 2002 so the movement is a bit slow. Still cool footage though, hope you enjoy!

Best ride ever created, the team did a phenomenal job on the story board, it really feels like a re telling of song of the south. 90s Disney imagineering were the best

1:25 "You'll be glad when it's over." No we won't Disney. No we won't.

I like how they described the ride as a "3D Movie" cuz it really does feel that way. I really want to get a timelapse of the ride's constitution someday.......

The work and creativity that went into this beautiful attraction just makes me appreciate it even more. The Imagineers did an incredible job, definitely one of their greatest achievements. It breaks my heart to know that this will all be ruined soon. Thanks Disney. 🙃

Loved those few seconds of animatronic close-ups at the start (and throughout the whole video too)

Disney has went downhill for more than a decade! I for one love both Splash Mountains, but prefer the original DL Splash due to having more unique music, an extra song, more animatronics, and a larger grander finale! WDW Splash has more detailed set pieces, better animatronics, great country-style music, and more capacity!

Song of the South is an important part of the Disney family and history. Walt Disney himself said that the black people in the movie are not slaves, even though the movie didn't say that they weren't either. It's setting takes place after the Civil War and the slaves were free. I'm glad the slaves were set free and slavery is over. Let me tell you a fact I learn from my mom, even though the African American slaves were now free, some still couldn't afford any homes or money, so some chose to stay with their former slave owners so they could still have a place to live and work and get paid, but the former slave owners would not be treating them like slaves anymore. I think that's what was really going on in the movie. Brer Rabbit is one of my favorite Disney characters. According to Floyd Norman, an African American who loves Song of the South and used to be a Disney Animator, the Tar Baby was never meant to be a metaphor for a black person. I think it's only called the Tar Baby because it's a decoy made out of Tar. But as we know, the name "Tar Baby" is usually a racist and insulting name for a black person. Oh, by the way, Song of the South is now available for streaming on a faith-friendly legal streaming service ReDiscover Television on Roku for anyone who does want to watch it, and may have yet to be on Disney+. In my Disney magazine for the Celebration of animation, Song of the South was included in the Magazine with some other Disney animated movies. So this may indicate that Disney isn't pretending that it doesn't exist. So I think Disney knows that the controversial movie is important to the Disney history, but they're just putting it away into the Disney Vault because they're trying to avoid offending people. I will always love Brer Rabbit and I don't think he's racist at all. I like people no matter what color they are or what country they're from, just as long as that person isn't evil. I even wonder what it would be like if Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox & Brer Bear do appear in the Kingdom Hearts series and having Sora learn about the happy term "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah".

I love them both equally! In terms of ride experience, I prefer WDW Splash. I love DL Splash for its music and finale/lp animatronics, though!

@@TheSplashMountainChannel I agree. WDW is longer and the music suit the environment well (as it has more of a country and bluegrass feel), but I do prefer DL's music more, as I think it has the best overall rhythm in its music. It has more of a big jazz band feel and I think it stands out more, especially cuz new orleans square is so close. However, I think one's preference on the ride depends on what u grew up with. For me, I like DL's splash mtn more cuz I grew up with it.
