Exceptionally talented athlete from 100 meters to 800 meters, and it would have been an unbelievable double at that olympics if she won the 400 as well. But silver at 400 and gold at 800 at the same games is still a great achievement.
The 64’ Olympics was filmed by a Japanese director, the committee hated it, being to “arts” but her race was played complete, it is a pleasure to see her, thank you
I remember that race like it was yesterday I was so happy at the time when she won it might be some 50 years later but if I ever saw her I would pat her on the back and say well done.
Very impressive finish..so fast in last 150 m that under a more even pace she could have been first under 2 minutes. She lost 400m to Betty Cuthbert from Australia, who stepped up from 100 and 200 metres when worlds best in 1956 Olympics.
I was lucky enough to be at school with Anne, back in our Wallingford days. Blast that Brightwell fella, she could have had me instead any day...... Oh well, there's always Francoise Hardy ......
The women running in the 2012 Olympic 800m. final (bar the winner) should have studied Ann before convincing themselves that the race was only 400m. Still slim and very pretty and clearly going strong.
Milkha Singh,, the Indian athlete who finished 4th in the 400m finals, encouraged her in the lift before the race and that gave her confidence as she says.
pourquoi appelle-t-elle Marievonne Dupureur 'The french girl"? Je n'aime pas ça. Colette Besson n'a jamais appellé Lilian Board l'anglaise. why does she call Marievonne Dupureur 'The french girl'? I don't like that. Colette Besson never called Lillian Board the English girl but simply LiLLan.
How could you give
This a thumbs down. She's delightful.
What a rare beauty. And of course, a world class athlete. Congrats again Ms. Packer. 🥇
she was a beauty. still is

Anne still raced in the early 80's. A 10 mile run in North Staffordshire ! Very nice lady and a great champion when there was no money in athletics.

They wanted Riefenstahl and Ichikawa gave them a human scale art document sometimes focusing on losers and groundskeepers. Ha! Fires on the Plain
"Good memories". Lots of feelings and emotions in just two words. I died there. Love her!
What a wonderful moment in track and field history. Will never forget David Coleman's commentary 😊
Even now she is beautiful
What a stunner! There would have been a poster of her on every billboard in Britain if she was around in 2012🤣
Beautiful then and beautiful now, what a performance.
What a delightful lady I enjoyed watching this
Her on the awards stand...starting crying for some reason...the English...something special there!

Still my favourite olympic moment. Followed by Bob Beamons long jump. She is way prettier too.
Followed by Rebecca Adlington touching out the US red hot favourite in Beijing. It still defies the laws of physics
Great to see Robbie peased for her too; might not have been in that time.

What a sweetheart.
I love her.....
It took a legend like Betty Cuthbert to beat her (in the 400)
Brits seem to produce some good runners.
When they are all over the British empire.
Maaaaaaaaaaaan she is pretty yes!!!!!!!!!
I think she lives near me in Cheshire!
Very nice video
Great sports woman, I wonder why she retired at only 22 after such a brilliant win.
Britain was stricter than most when it came to the amateur rules. A lot of great athletes retired too soon.
Children. Several top female athletes retired in their early 20s to start a family. It was the British culture at the time.
She got married.
An English rose!
Was the golfer she mentioned Vijay Singh?
wogznwogz jeev milkha singh, the son of former indian 400m runner milkha singh
Milkha Singh. His son is the golfer she talks of. He's Jeev Milkha Singh.

Fantastic! And all they could say was " What a consolation for Robbie Brightwell". Typical.
