The footage from THIS video has been taken from that documentary. The doc is in scope widescreen format though, not 16:9.
Running in lane 1 probably cost him 0.3 seconds. If you can find a slo-mo clip of the race, you can see how much of the cinders his shoes were kicking up.
Who writes this copy? Do a little more research. Anton Geesink “an unexpected winner surprised the hosts?” Geesink was the World Champion and favorite going in, hardly unexpected or a surprise.
We need to see such episodes for every Olympics starting from 1896. It would be great.
